Santa Anita for Monday 17 February 2020

So so card to finish off 4 straight days of racing.

Best of luck as always!

race 1   below  average clarity

6  Clockstrikestwelve   tepid top choice seems to be screaming out for longer and gets her 1st shot as running as far of 9 furlongs this afternoon..........and I like that Mike Smith stays with her despite this being a cheap conditioned claiming turf race

7  Dulverton Darling   both lifetime races at 9F on the grass stand out as her two best efforts to date......comes from the clouds but she should encounter very little traffic with only six foes in the race

4  Mongolian Window   should be on the lead Assael Espinoza can slow things down she just might go all the way racing at the lowest level of her career

5  Tig Tog

race 2    below average clarity

5  Imagineiamfatest   five year old has won his last 3 of 4 racing on fast rated dirt and SA seems like his favorite surface.......that and he just won at one mile in his 1st endeavor at the last race he should get a nice stalk position

2  Fast as Cass   by far at his best racing at today's one mile dirt distance (8 2 2 2 ) & (12 0 1 5) elsewhere.......trainer Lorenzo Ruiz is dynamite with getting claimers to go back to back wins as in 32% with his last 47

4  Conquest Cobra   elder statesman seems better suited to sprint racing these days but he owns some one mile back numbers that would crush today's competition......and he gets Prat coming off of a 4 bagger yesterday

race 3     below average clarity

2  Out of Balance   four year old filly does her best running at today's nine furlong turf distance and she gets one significant rider upgrade to Joel Rosario.........and when Hofmans uses a top echelon rider his horses are almost always "live"

5  Kynance   subtle points of trouble in her latest hides a decent effort at 44 to 1..........that and this mare should like the extra furlong to cover as she is bred to run all day long.........and she gets 5 lbs off with bug boy Velez up.........such a deal

1  Pretty Point   tough call here in that was it the good turf (ran well on good turf in May as well) that helped this filly run 3rd in her last in a Grade 1 or did she just improve........only lifetime win was at GG vs a soft I said - tough call

4  Sapphire Kid

race 4    above average clarity

1  Ce Ce   powerful efforts in both of her lifetime sprints run last Spring.......considering one of them was her MSW debut you would think Michael McCarthy would have her ready fresh off of the bench today.........she will be tough to beat if he does have her ready

3  Rather Nosy   made quite a rebound in form in her dirt race run two back and the strength of the effort is disguised by racing wide up on a solid set of fractions........last race was OK on the turf which isn't her best surface........turf to dirt angle today......Carava runner should make a good account of herself

2  Ava's Charm   solid MSW win in this girl's last and yet Baffert sees fit to remove the blinkers for today.......normally I hate an equipment change following a good race but not for Baffert........ because........ when he takes the blinkers off after a seemingly strong race his runners often run even better their next start......dangerous sort

race 5    average clarity

3  Morgan S.   rather sure this six year needs to run fresh to fire his best and Mullins who takes over the training duties of this gelding realizes this........Ruben Fuentes should put him in the mix from the get go........should be a price

7  Castle   very suspicious drop but if this gelding has a race left in him he should have been top pick.......hate these flip a coin types

2  Tigerbeach   ultra consistent in abbreviated turf sprints (7 4 2 1)........ran 2nd in the 12 January version of this race despite getting much pace up front to aid his late run......might get more "pace" today

8  Via Egnatia

1  Blackout

race 6    average clarity

1  Big Hoof Dynamite   private deal lands this colt in the Truman barn for the 1st time.........that is a dangerous proposition for the opposition as the trainer has won 3 of his last 7 taking over a training duties on a new addition to his barn......that and Cedillo should get good position on or near the lead

5  Govenor Cinch   very good history on the dirt outside of Lrc (4 2 1 1) so effort on the grass in latest but the race might have muscled him up........race 3 back at one mile on the dirt is strong and if he finds that race today he will be tough

2  Knifes Edge   likely will need his best to date but he might be up for it as he likes the one mile dirt distance and gets a rider upgrade to Flavien Prat........and.........the only time the trainer legged up Prat over the last 2 months they won as team

race 7    average clarity

3  Kentan Road   Velez has an excellent history riding this Sadler mare and he should be able to get what this mare needs as in a loose lead.........five year old mare is (3 2 1 0) at SA on the grass sprinting with a loose lead........recent works are improved.......hard not to put on top

4  Tonahutu   powerful late kick for this Dan Blacker five year old mare.......small field to negotiate should lead to a clean trip from the back of the pack.........and a stout grass jock in Rispoli in the irons

2  Apache Princess   seems likely to get a nice mid pack position and get 1st crack at the two speed horses in 3 & 5..........jock won 4 yesterday........nice 47:2 drill put in preparing for today and for a trainer in Desormeaux who doesn't push them too hard in the a.m.

race 8    average clarity

1  Cimarron   sprint-sprint-route maneuver for this Dean Pederson filly who is better suited to route racing........trainer is as hot as I can ever remember........don't stop now Dean

4  Atina   six year old mare just popped what might be her best effort at GG and she seems at her very best on conventional logic suggests she has a shot at her lifetime best this afternoon.........if she is she will be one tough cookie

7  Meso   Rosario might have gotten off a couple of others to ride this Sadler significant drop down........if that is so this filly is likely in decent physical condition and should be very dangerous racing at level she fits solidly

2  Ruby Bradley

9  Reds Sacred Appeal
