OK race card to start the new week of racing at Santa Anita

Best of luck as always!

race 1    below average clarity

6  Over Attached   Carla Gaines has had a nice rebound year and she has been more dangerous than her 15% win record would suggest as she has had more than her fair share of bad racing luck.......three year old filly invader from France has fired 3 of 4 lifetime races that fit well here and it has only been 3 months since her last race overseas.......adequate works.......believe she will give a good account of herself 1st out in the USA

3  Shines Her Light   best race in Ireland was in a one mile turf race.......both 5 1/2 furlong grass races at SA since arriving from Ireland show that she can be formidable at today's level of racing especially her 2nd race where she would have been a winner if she was given a better trip by V. Espinoza........who........should be out to make amends with his only mount on the card

5  Affianced   owns some dangerous speed in this spot and Flavien Prat is back up for the 3rd straight time........and if this filly doesn't get the lead she seems capable of preforming well without it......top gun up with options......you have to like that

race 2    average clarity

2  Big Mel   Baffert put Diaz up for this expensive MSW colt in his 1st start suggesting he wasn't all out to win with this well bred colt........3 drills since his 15 May debut.......nice pedigree for a mile.......and the connections didn't shell out the big bucks to have themselves a sprinter

5  Uncle Addouma   trainer Mike McCarthy has been very chilly since the reopening but might snatch his 2nd win here with this colt making his 2nd start.........sprint debut should be useful as should the the 4 works since his MSW debut which was at OP.......trainer is solid 1st at a route & 2nd career race.......and Prat stays put

1  Uncle Chuck  decent spot for a MSW 1st time starter as this appears to be an overly hustled race by the RC office to make the race go.....and considering Baffert is the conditioner this $250K purchase likely doesn't have to be that special to be a major player here

race 3    average clarity

8  Going to Vegas   three year old filly is (7 2 4 1) when up for a tag which she is today.......and her last in a protected alw race might have been nothing more than a dirty up her form gimme to put some doubts in the minds of the claiming vultures lurking......that and Prat/Miller are an unreal 9 for their last 16 over the last 2 months

6  Lovely Lilia   ignoring this girl's only turf race as it was her maiden debut and she didn't wear blinkers ......they have been on since with 2 wins and a 2nd in 5 races on the dirt.......bred well for the sod......1st time blinkers on turf........she should be in the vanguard early.......dangerous sort

3  A Thousand Dreams   talk about dead on the board.........60 to 1 for this O'Neill filly......and her effort appeared to be nothing more than a turf sprint tune-up.......won her only one mile grass race last summer and did so sprint to route......and it seems like a positive sign the Abel Cedillo rides back

2  Madame Bourbon

7  White Velvet

race 4    average clarity

1  Camino de Estrella   might be an awfully good claim by Knapp and company as they see fit to step up their newbie 2 levels following a strong layoff effort by the six year old where he popped a number that is better than par for today's higher level.......believe he doing great but racing as far as 9F is a ? mark

2  Conquest Cobra   elder statesman (as in an 8 year old) should be forwardly placed saving ground and with the meets leading rider at the controls.......that and the gelding takes a logical drop of one level as he isn't getting any younger

4  Incredible Luck   finally takes an overdue drop into claiming to help his chances of success........as an owner you often fall in love with the ones you own but eventually they need to earn their keep

race 5    average clarity

7  Unusually Handsome   four year old gets a full cut back of one furlong which should help his endurance in this one mile turf race.....also he goes from two consecutive open company MSW races to one restricted to Cal-breds........also he gets 1st time Prat and as mentioned in race 2 Prat/Miller are an unreal 9 for their last 16 over the last 2 months.

3  Rawhide Rawlins   very bad trip in this colt's debut in a MSW affair at 5 1/2 furlongs on the turf......did awfully well to close fast into a soft set of fractions and finish 3rd......turf route for start number two and his pedigree hints that he will handle the added distance and the two turns

6  Summer Fun   away since his 2nd start which was in October but Gaines has him training as if he is ready fresh off of the bench with a prolonged work tab......and his workout times/regiment hint he has improved with the time off........should go off a nice price

9  Tropical Terror

5  Foothill

race 6    average clarity

1  Go for a Ride   inside speed has done super for most of 2020 at the one mile distance on the dirt at Santa Anita.......and considering Maldonado is up it would be a shocker if he didn't put pedal to the metal early to open up a lead

6  All I Can Say  vaulted forward in his latest in a 6F sprint......and the effort was somewhat verified when the horse that beat him by a head for 2nd came back to win by many lengths last weekend

2  Abusive Gary  training great but takes a rather suspicious multiple level drop.......maybe his last drill was too fast and took it's toll so they drop to lose him.......but maybe not........especially with the "voided" claim protection these days

5  Knifes Edge

race 7   above  average clarity

4  Great Return   all six lifetime turf races are rather good (6 2 1 2 1) with not only solid final times but with solid fractions in her last three......away since October but she shows a nice tightly spaced series of drills some of which suggest she hasn't lost her speed.......believe Van Dyke only has our 2nd choice to deal with as far as the lead is concerned and this gal seems faster

5  Sold It   seems better in a turf sprint than a turf route.......believe this filly will attempt to stalk our top selection with the hopes she comes up a little short in the stretch coming off of a layoff......jock could use a win as he is only 5% win since the reopening

3  Querelle   mare is a very strong finisher in these 5 1/2 furlong grass races........so if our top two selections press each other some this lady might fly by both in late stretch

race 8    above average clarity

7  Csaba Momma   bad trip for this filly which included a brutal quarter and a runaway winner which did her in in her latest..........and if she needed the race off of the 3 1/2 month layoff she can be a dangerous individual in this 6 1/2 furlong bottom level maiden claiming race

2  Kirsch Truffle   four year old filly from the Peter Miller barn is improving and seems to be better sprinting than routing.......last fits fine and if she improves again she might be rated too low

6  Elemental   solid early speed in her latest but weakened in the stretch.........so you have to appreciate a 5F drill followed by a 6F drill since the 15 May race........those works might be just what the Dr. ordered to get this filly to hang in there throughout the 6 1/2F affair

8  Suezaaana

13  Daddys Real Diva
