About Us
Martin Dermer was the track handicapper-linemaker at Arlington International Racecourse for over 25 years. On August 12, 2003, Marty sadly passed away from complications from cancer. The Racing Digest has been published every race day WITHOUT EXCEPTION for the past 25 years and its history and success will continue long into the future. We promise that Marty’s memory will be kept alive.
For those of you that don’t know already, it’s time to introduce our primary handicapper for the last 31 months (since December 2007) and hopefully for years to come, Rich Santucci. Rich is a lifelong handicapper. In the past he has bred and raced thoroughbreds including a few that he owned with a former owner of this publication. In the 1990′s he appeared as the guest television handicapper for Arlington International Racecourse on numerous occasions. He has been the author and publisher of past performance racing data for the Chicago, New York, Kentucky, and Florida racing circuits and currently does the California figures for Top Turf Today. He is thrilled to be covering California racing and from what he’s accomplished in only 31 months the best is yet to come for The Racing Digest.
Our secondary handicapper is David Gordon. David is a lifelong handicapper and also an actuary so dealing with facts and figures has always been right up his alley. David, like Rich, has been the co-owner of racehorses in the past winning the Sixty Sails Handicap, the richest female dirt race in Chicago, with a horse named Balotra. Through the years it has been uncanny how close the analysis of a given race is whenever Santucci and Gordon study separately and then compare their notes afterwards. No wonder they both like using Top Turf Today to aid in handicapping a given grass race.
