race 4    18 Feb 18

5  Colosi   ultra impressive in his 1st run down the SA hill grass course breaking 2 lengths slow and losing about 2 lengths by running a bit wide.....yet......he finished very fast and then galloped out very well.......believe this gelding loves the turf

1  Hemp Hemp Hemp   colt is a very nice grass horse and from a barn that knows how to win grass races........only rated as 2nd selection because Espinoza is dynamite on the dirt but not so hot on the grass especially considering the quality of the mounts that he gets.......he is only 9 for his last 155 on the grass

2  Pubilius   like our 2nd choice he has very little to prove on the turf.......but he has been in turf routes and he might not get enough pace up front to get up in time

race 2   15 Feb 18   3 WON

2  Clearly Gone   connections appear to have this filly ready fresh off of the bench as she is not eligible to be claimed today and she ran one very strong race in her lone start way back on 4 Sept 2016 for today's level and distance

1  Her Royalness  DECLARED A NON STARTER  another returning off of a long layoff and like our top selection appears meant and ready off of a nice set of drills.......and.......the fact that Mike Smith is riding a maiden claimer supports the notion (he also rode in her debut which was a MSW affair).......Bruce Headley has good stats both MSW to MC and off of prolonged layoffs

3  Del Mar Diva   believe fires best to date because of these three changes:  major league rider upgrade - 1st time blinkers to help focus her early speed - and cuts back 1/2 furlong which should be a plus......good rider/trainer combo over the years.......not out of the win picture by any means

race 3   10 Feb 18   1-4 exacta 56.60

4  Malibu Music   steadily improving with only a few hick-ups now and then and his latest move forward on 21 Jan. is disguised by an early bump of 2 lengths and a pace factor of about 2 1/2 lengths......add that together to his real fig and you get a colt who ran better than par for today's level.......seems likely to get good mid pack position saving ground

1  Maestro Dearte   fairly smooth runner in both lifetime starts and both were route grass races like today.........nice recent speed drill......sat closer in his last and likely will be even closer up today......good post.......good rider......hard not to like

3  Temple Keys   gelding woke up some in last and did so at a distance where he has yet to win........cuts back 1/8th today to a distance where he owns his only two lifetime wins.......gate work on 3 Feb. is interesting.......it hints Baltas wants him to sit closer which appears to be a plus here.......and I like that Desormeaux stays put

5  Lymebyrd

9  Rigoletto

6  Broken Up

race 7    4 Feb 18   7-4 exacta paid $80.40

4  All Net   Mullins is very dangerous dropping from MSW to low-level maiden claiming......1st on the dirt but she is training on it as if it fits her more than the turf.......trainer seems overdue to start heating things up......maybe he lights the pilot light here

7  Tapitha Bonita   nice improvement 1st time racing at a route in last.....gets the 7 lbs bug boy Ceballos today which should make her speed very dangerous.........as if she gets loose..............she...........................might............................go...........................all..............................the............................way

6  Taylorealswift   two of her last three races fit well fig/effort wise.......she is mainly placed as the 3rd selection because I doubt another 1/16th to run this afternoon is a positive as she has been flattening out some at one mile

9  Mischievous Lass

5  Venice

3  Artistic Ministery

race 2   3 Feb 18  1-5 exacta paid $25.20

1  Curly's Rocket   handled today's one post quite nicely in his 2nd lifetime start dueling thru-out and just missed the winners circle by a nose......two sharp 4F drills since......back in short........another forward move seems likely

6  Core Beliefs   solid MSW debut for this Peter Eurton three-year old cold getting bumped 2 or 3 lengths early and showing plenty of life after that.......1st time on Lasix for his 2nd start......and..... with a sharp speed 4F drill since his 13 Jan debut......and thru the years Eurton is much more dangerous with 2nd time starters although not as much so of late

5  Once On Whiskey   prolonged work regiment for this Bob Baffert MSW 1st time starter (Bob also trains our top selection) and with both speed and endurance building works put in......dangerous sort
