Santa Anita for Wednesday 24 Feb 2010

Handicappers Corner

Slightly above average card today especially considering it's a Wednesday.

A couple of recommended plays   5th race let's try to get a price shot to run with a favorite     exacta part wheels 8, 10 with 2, 7 and another 2, 7 with 8, 10  (double your wagering amount on the 2nd given exacta part wheel)  and then in the 6th race let's go with this pick 3 part wheel    1, 2, 3, 7, 8 with 1, 4 with 1, 4, 9    30 bets

Race 1    above average clarity

2  Kiss'em For Me   solid race only time back in 2 weeks like today....1st at a route but breeding says that won't be a problem

1  Miss Seamless   1st after the claim and O'Neal must like what he sees because he steps this filly up a notch and brings her back quickly

Race 2    average clarity

5  Tiger Blitz   solid rebound in last and takes a significant drop....barns been in win mode for an extended period

6  Sovereign Lord   consistent sort fits solidly at this level in most of his career races....the trouble is he tends to hang....barn tries blinkers off and weight off to overcome his hanging tendency

4  Exile   for the 2nd straight race O'Nealsends out a horse 1st time running a route of ground....OK route breeding....colt did move forward a couple of lengths in last

Race 3    average clarity

9  Broken Silent   Hollendorfer takes over this maiden who has caught multiple stout fields on the synthetic...training great fresh off the bench...good grass breeding

5  Susan's Wildcat   Sadler sure believes he can get this filly over the hump because she continues to run in MSW affairs......decent races on the hill and should last  longer into deep stretch coming off a route race

3  Rachelle's Joy   positive rider switch and a good shot to move forward 2nd out after the layoff...can be prominent from the get go

4  Fantasy Dancer   showed life with good early speed in a route grass last Spring at CD...beat 7 horses that day....training as if ready off of the layoff for her new outfit

Race 4    above average clarity

6  Stevie's Afleet   shows decent speed when draws outside on the AW....good chance to get a nice outside chase position and run the the fave in the stretch

2  Underground   would have been top pick if the 1 horse hadn't scratched....must break smartly from the difficult breaking 1 hole at 6 1/2 F...the one to beat if he does

Race 5    average clarity

7  Silent Stalk   last win was on the 50% drop in claiming price....the same scenario as today...not too concerned about health issue because he just worked a very strong breeze 3 days ago

10  Lovely Lolly   only got beat in a strange move up to 20K claiming in last....earned a strong fig for the level and seems well meant in this spot......jock has a dismal record but doesn't get many horses of any ability to ride...best show his merit today

2  Ultra Awesome   filly knows how to win winning 4 of her last 6 racing endeavors and 3 of those were today's jock aboard...good chance to get the same winning stalking trip as she did in her last

8  Kelley's Kitchen   race 2 back at today's distance fits fine with this group....much better work for this gal suggests a rebound will occur

Race 6    average clarity

8  Luckiest Man   excellent work tab for this laid up runner....1st time out for the Miller barn with blinkers on, a fresh horse,  and solid works all say ready to roll

3  Tribal Justice   needed his last especially considering the stout group he caught in his return to the race wars....only grass race was better than it looks on paper closing fast into a favorable pace for the front runners

2  Wolgan Valley   surprizingly strong effort in this geldings run off of the prolonged layoff.....barn is significantly better 2nd after the layoff and sure has shown a consistency to fire on the grass

7  Hidden Blessing   not sure why this speed horse horse was taken back in his last but whatever the reason it did not work.....should be prominent from the get go and try to stick around today

Race 7    average clarity

1  Alpha Kitten   3 powerful sprint races (times and quality of the fields) in 3 sprint attempts....all those efforts were with today's jock aboard....everything about the work series says full throttle 1st out off of the long hiatus from the track

4  Emmy Darling   blocked in latest or would have been right there at the wire.....last win came 3rd out after the layoff like today.....Sadler switches jocks to one of his "go to" guys

5  Heartless Vixen   got to like the fact that this undefeated filly won both her races on the SA Pro-ride synthetic surface....long layoff but the works say ready

Race 8    average clarity

4  Bettingonthefly   low % barn but I believe they have this 3 year old sharp for this race.....strong layoff run 1st time on lasix followed by 2 reassuring 5/8th works....and drops a small notch.....Talamo smartly  sticks with the horse

9  Fermelia  I like his last...... improved pace and final time is usually a strong sign of a horse getting better and that's what we have here

1  Kim's Leading Man   this youngster is on the right end of the learning curve...blocked in stretch in latest or would have had a decent chance at the winners circle

6  Caracas   broke very poorly and ran wide in maiden debut so getting beat by 6 1/2 is hardly an embarrassing effort....hot riding Espinoza sticks around and will be out to make amends

7  Edenise   horrid start in his debut into the racing world....blinkers on to help his focus and break at the gate
