Handicappers Corner
Welcome to our new website that is here to stay for a very long time. We are excited to announce that we now own Top Turf Today which we have been using for the past 3 years for our source for superior figures and trip notes on California grass races. Our handicapper does the figure making for Top Turf Today so obviously his knowledge of it's use is at the highest level. Quite a plus for The Racing Digest members.
If anyone has interest in purchasing Top Turf Today it can be purchased at 1/2 the regular price if you are a current or fairly recent "Digest" member.
Top Turf Today is only useful to folks who have at least an average level of handicapping ability. It is not a selection service like this publication.
We would appreciate it if any of you know any trainers, owners, or handicappers to please let them know about Top Turf Today. We feel strongly it would help them immensely. And it is a bargain compared to similar products that are out there.
Recommended play (Another hit yesterday in the only play that went because the other play was scratched out on a day with far too many scratches....that pick 3 part wheel hit and made us over 4 to 1 on our investment)    7th race double part wheel   2, 5, 7 with 5, 8
Â
Race 1Â Â average clarity
4 Recess  very likely that this consistent filly gets a perfect chase position and will ponce on turn 2 or the stretch.....responses well for T C Baze
2 Twoformeoneforyou  impossible post in last....sat last in a paceless race......will sit much closer today and the small field should help her put in a clean closing trip
Â
Race 2Â Â Â average clarity
5 Willie The Fox  improving with every start....works are very impressive for this level....shipper can range up nicely from the outside
4 Really Uptown  also on the improve and has a good running line history back with shorter rest...today's scenario
Â
Race 3Â Â Â average clarity
5 Ms Margaritaville   barn is starting to heat and drops this filly to get to the promised land.....hot rider/trainer combo
3 Maddyaboutyou  57 to 1 for Ron Ellis says gimme city in MSW turf tightening run down the hill....drops fitter and ready.....Ellis is due to bust out of a mini-slumpÂ
4 Thriving Ivory  low % trainer has this filly training as if ready and well meant for her debut into the racing world
Â
Race 4Â Â Â above average clarity
5 Lucks Mine  looks loose in this spot and with Mike Smith aboard he will be mighty difficult to catch
6 Tribal Face  wide trip in last on the AW and still only beat by 4 1/2.....1st on the grass but bred for it......T C Baze will be going after the chase position...a good position to be in in this paceless looking affair
2 Siberian Heart  solid 1st run on the turf and it was on the hill....will need more pace than anticipated and if she gets it she may run by them all
Â
Race 5Â Â average clarity
5  Prince Of Gotham  only one big name trainer in this race and he has as good an animal of anybody in the race...and oh ya...that Bejarano guy is aboard
2 Gobler's Knob  barn loves to tune-up with a sprint before running long....that's the scenario here......impressive recent work too
3 Warren's Kong  horrid record for Hall Of Fame trainer but he sure got this colt to turn things around with the blinkers off...3 year old versus older but a 10 lb break
Â
Race 6Â Â Â average clarity
5 First Settler  very solid MW debut run on the sod especially considering it was run at today's 1 mile distance...should show plenty of improvement in 2nd lifetime start
8 I'mneverwrong  only race run that was impressive was her race run at today's distance...positive rider switch
3 Pulpit Magic  here your wire to wire attempt and with a good front running jockey aboard
4 Indiara  nice work series appears to have this 1st time on the grass Harty charge ready for her first grass run....pretty decent turf pedigree...only mount of the day for Gomez seems significant
Â
Race 7Â Â Â average clarity
5 Heavenly N' Free  bad trip in last hides this one's ability....keeps training most impressively and gets a big positive rider change
7 A Clever Ten  sharper drills for this unlucky (not the best of trips) filly who retains the services of hot riding Bejarano
2Â Bran Jammas very reliable trainer when he shows powerful works like this one has......long long layoff but I believe she's ready
Â
Race 8Â Â Â above average clarity
8 Holladay Road  long hiatus from the track but work series says all set to roll off of the layoff...has faced better and earned some very big figs on Top Turf Today albeit on the grass Â
5 Big Jay  chased a fast pace in last and rightfully tired late.....back with shorter rest for a hot barn says much more today...can be prominent thru-out
10 Devil On The Road  takes an awfully big drop out of MSW but barn is in need of a win or two...a big factor if the same horse?
4 Silverado Gold  needed last and should show more today
9 Jade Ruler  OK run in last his 1st at a route....stronger work since suggests we will see more today
