Handicappers Corner
Welcome to our one week old website that is here to stay for a very long time. We are excited to announce that we now own Top Turf Today which we have been using for the past 3 years for our source for superior figures and trip notes on California grass races. Our handicapper does the figure making for Top Turf Today so obviously his knowledge of it's use is at the highest level. Quite a plus for The Racing Digest members.
If anyone has interest in purchasing Top Turf Today it can be purchased at 1/2 the regular price if you are a current or fairly recent "Digest" member.
Top Turf Today is only useful to folks who have at least an average level of handicapping ability. It is not a selection service like this publication.
We would appreciate it if any of you know any trainers, owners, or handicappers to please let them know about Top Turf Today. We feel strongly it would help them immensely. And it is a bargain compared to similar products that are out there.
O.K. card today if the rain overnight night doesn't mess with the track too much.
recommended pick 3 part wheel that starts in race 4Â Â Â Â 1, 8 with 1, 3, 6, 7 with 1, 4, 6, 8
Card was cancelled
Â
Race 1Â Â average clarity
6Â Initial Impression two better than they look races on the turf....nice works since...bred to handle the AW just fine
5Â Verbicaro bred to be a dent sprinter and training like one as well....could have raced at GG but brothers to ship in for this
3Â Flying Suances usually tough to judge when a Vienna 1ster is ready to run because he always trains them lightly and mostly on the training track.......Gomez is up so maybe ready?
Â
Race 2Â Â Â above average clarity
7Â Humble Maggie Go decent maiden claiming debut.....should be able to sit very close to the lead in this spot.....barn is solid with 2nd time starter
1Â Simply Put only the 4th career race over 2 1/4 years so Sadler wisely drops to the bottom to greatly enhance the chances of this physically troubled horse...simply put it sure would take guts to claim him
3Â Skylights race 2 back her maiden debut was a par like effort for this level and today's jock was aboard today....should be closing late
Â
Race 3Â Â average clarity
6Â Laser Point strong move forward in last and Gomez sticks around.....needs to avoid a speed duel.....has rated when necessary in the past
3 One Shot seems like the speed of the speed.....tough guy to pass late sometimes.....digs in....has a shot especially if the precipitation firms up the inside
5Â Shelter Island deep closer gets of plenty of speed to run at late and a new higher win percentage jock aboard
Race 4Â Â Â average clarity
SELECTIONS ARE FOR THE TURF OR THE MAIN TRACK
8Â Dana Dynamo very competitive sort in all 4 lifetime runs....bred for the grass (doubt it will stay on the grass) but I like him even more if they move the race o the AW.......giant work series hints this gelding is even better at four years of age
1Â One Man's Delight unless one of the two 1st timers have speed this gelding has the speed to get away and maybe never look back
4Â Dontmesaroundwitjim long layoff but another who has proved himself and is working as if all set to roll after the long hiatus from the track
2Â Cee's Closing Time ever since the blinkers and fronts were removed this horse has shown some life
Race 5Â Â average clarity
7Â Marquet Rebel solid fig for this level in last.......barn has 9 2nd's in 27 starts & no wins......drops to get one and end the jinx
3Â Phantom Strike many sprint numbers fit fine......Walsh has sharp in the morning......the route endeavor is the ? mark
6Â Country Tough back to the AW & back to Mr Gomez....only route race on the AW was a winner and with today's jock in the saddle
1Â Pacific Halo shockingly decent run at 64 to 1.......that was sprinting.....flashed big two turn pace at Fpx last Summer......wire to wire attempt with a good speed rider up
Race 6Â Â Â average clarity
4Â Shine'n Time Smith seems to be a good fit with this horse....works are better than ever...believe can fire best ever and handle the class rise
6Â Seedless probably needed last somewhat and a strong 6F drill since....should be very tough on the anticipated move forward
8Â Euro Gal very competitive since the blinkers were added....stout rider/trainer team...only win on the SA Pro-ride
1Â Phoenician Star has done nothing wrong in 2 lifetime starts....Walsh barn has really been getting it done lately
Race 7Â Â below average clarity
SELECTIONS ARE FOR THE TURF OE THE MAIN TRACK
2Â Mind The Minister last 2 races run on the grass then the AW fit well in this spot.....T C Baze knows this animal well
9Â Storm Brave earned a very strong (bad trip) fig sprinting in last at 40 to 1 in what I think was a tune-up for today's route run....entered last for 22.5K to get weight break but enters for 25K this time which says to me that the horse kind of surprised the barn a bit in his last
7Â Changing horse has run well in the past back in a couple of weeks rest......believe he'll fire back in only 8 days rest as well...solid rider/trainer team
3Â Cavanal drop drop drop....maybe gets it done before it's too late
Race 8Â Â below average clarity
5Â Setsuko 2 very impressive races since Mandella added blinkers to his colt......proven at the distance is always a big plus for these early 3 year old Graded races...and this fellow is
4 Outlaw Man big move forward in last at 1 1/8 miles...race was on the sod but if McPeek / Gomez think the Pro-ride fits  that's good enough for me
2Â Kettle River on the improve with every start and the sharp work tab says that the trend should continue....runs as if the extra 1/16 of a mile won't be a problem
9Â Alphie's Bet furious stretch run into ry slow pace was most impressive....blinkers on to sit closer.....continues to train sharply
Â
Race 9Â Â Â Above average clarity
1Â Krakow Queen strong fractions in her maiden debut last....good gate jock and only 5F to run says wires if breaks
3Â Dos Veinte 1ster is training up to snuff and gets a good speed rider in Valdez.....hinting of speed in his morning work
7Â R. C. Storm blinkers on for a filly who has already flashed some decent speed....5F fits this filly who is usually gassed just after 5+ furlongs....very big price most likely
5Â Binky's Sister barns awakening and this is the only mount of the day for Flores....long time to stick around for a gimme...works aren't showing much but?
9Â Excessive Chatter showing some ability but has a tough post for a 5F race....chances enhance if he gets a couple of scratches inside of him
