Handicappers Corner
Welcome to our new website that is here to stay for a very long time. We are excited to announce that we now own Top Turf Today which we have been using for the past 3 years for our source for superior figures and trip notes on California grass races. Our handicapper does the figure making for Top Turf Today so obviously his knowledge of it's use is at the highest level. Quite a plus for The Racing Digest members.
If anyone has interest in purchasing Top Turf Today it can be purchased at 1/2 the regular price if you are a current or fairly recent "Digest" member.
Top Turf Today is only useful to folks who have at least an average level of handicapping ability. It is not a selection service like this publication.
We would appreciate it if any of you know any trainers, owners, or handicappers to please let them know about Top Turf Today. We feel strongly it would help them immensely. And it is a bargain compared to similar products that are out there.
Recommended pick 3 part wheel starts in race number 5    2, 3, 5, 8 with 4, 5, 7 with 2, 3      24 bets
Â
race 1Â Â Â slightly below average clarity
4 Glory Pride  all 4 lifetime grass efforts fit decently in this spot...has caught some solid fields
5 Fifie's Fantasy  strong maiden claiming debut winner now switches to route turf and is bred to like it......has plenty of early speed to get good position into turn 1
3 Full Mandate  plenty of rest since eased in USA debut 4 months ago......ran 2nd twice to quite a bit better last Summer/Fall in Great Britain
Â
race 2Â Â Â slightly below average clarity
6 Sunny Peace  claimed...rested....and training great for new barn....can get a nice chase position.....barn might be waking up
2 Hot 'n Lacey  looks loose here with a solid speed rider aboard
1 Gula Girl  back with very short rest off of a much improved effort...big shot if this mare can handle being wheeled back in 6 days
Â
Â
race 3Â Â Â average clarity
7 Squallcreek  love when Mitchell snatches a sharp grass horse which he has done here......should be on or near the lead
5 Pleasure To Ride  positive turf rider switch....jock should be able to get a nice chase position.....something the horse responses to
1 Fire Break  last looks like a grass sprint tune-up.....solid (bad trip) effort 2 back fits and it was at today's distance of 1 mile
Â
race 4Â Â Â slightly below average clarity
7 Blackman Bay  on the right end of the learning curve and now we get a positive rider switch to Gomez
2 Afleet Cowboy  tightly spaced prolonged work series strongly suggests that this 1ster is fit and ready to roll in his maiden debut
1 Country Impact  on the improve with every start....needs the trend to continue
5 Caracas  2 for 2 lifetime in the bad trip department....blinks on to help focus.....Espinoza sticks with the horse
Â
race 5Â Â Â average clarity
2 Enriched  believe this gelding is best on the turf....has run a nice 2nd to a very tough foe in his last two grass runs...best when chases
5 Hyades  impressive win for this GB shippers 1st U S of A race.....repeat of that effort competes well here
3 Riviera Cocktail  strong late runner runs all day so the 1 1/8 suites him well
8 Gothic Samurai  looks to clear and slow things down up front...not a lot of speed in here
Â
race 6Â Â Â average clarity
7 Ishmael  race seemingly sets up for his closing style....excellent history at today's distance
4 Buyer's Remose  seems to cherish time off between races and gets it.....strong recent 6F work has sharp....mid pack running style fits the pace scenarioÂ
5 Joyful Success  has been facing better.....needs to avoid a speed duel
Â
race 7Â Â Â slightly above average clarity
2 Mr Gruff  wow 3 for 4 on the hill and the rest of the field combined have only 3 starts (0 wins) on the hill.....long layoff but has a terrific work series
3 Prairie City Road  highly competitive horse in all 8 lifetime starts.....dangerous barn ships in from GG and gets Talamo to ride who sure handles horses well on the hill course
7 Kelly Lark  quality laid up animal handles the turf, the dirt, the AW so he has a good chance to adjust well to the SA hill of sod
1  Papa Bear  owns some nice grass sprint efforts in New York......24 to 1 in last suggests that was a tune-up for today
Â
race 8Â Â Â slightly above average clarity
7  Lady Adelle  an absolute ton in here if her health has remained intact
1 Pay For Play  drops out of MSW just like the 7 horse but with a lesser resume
4 Sweet And Jazzy  good enough work series to consider that she is mean and ready for her racing debut
5 R. C. Storm  big wake up in last chasing a decent pace 3 wide....turn back of 1/2 furlong should help this filly
6 Youvegotthatright  21 to 1 in her 6 horse field maiden debut says that race was needed and that we can expect more from her today
