Handicappers Corner

Closing day at Santa Anita. Hollywood opens on Wednesday. After a great card yesterday today's lacks quality.

1st race pick 4 recommendation  2/3,4/4.6.7/1,2,3,6,7,9  36 bets

race 1    average clarity

2  Eze Does It   long layoff but Miller has this one sharp in the morning and the gelding takes a meaningful drop in class

3  Pride Of Wilshire   useful debut and the barn is much better with 2nd time starters

4  Stick To The Plan   low % 1st timer outfit but trainer as if this colt may break the mold

race 2    average clarity

4  Full Mandate   acted up in the gate in lat....blinkers on.....works are much improved....a ton if settles down today

3  Hard Way Ten   solid 2 lifetime efforts on the AW.....dad's a hot new turf sire....Bejaranosticks around

race 3   average clarity

6  So Hottie   strong works series says ignore the long layoff...ready to pop....Bejarano thinks so

7  Sister Lucy   mare has a real solid history at 5 1/2 F or less....love the way Pedroza has been riding in sprints

4  Gotham Spirit   useful return to the races after a year break in the action in her last....good likelihood this filly mov4es forward today

race 4    slightly below average clarity

2  De Cool Cat   works are good enough for this 1ster and his breeding suggest speed......Vadlez is good from the gate and will try to get the jump on the field

6  My Secret Life   race 2 back at today's distance will be tough if the 1sters in here aren't much

1  Willycan   the Mandella family doesn't send many ready to run maiden claimers ready to win but this one is training well and the competition seems soft

7  Mister Jazz   another 1ster that may be ready....rider and trainer teamed up for a win yesterday

race 5    average clarity

8  Indy Ride   smart placement by his new stout barn...horse likes to sprint and has had too few opportunities to do so....sharp drills suggest new barn has improved horse

9  Don't Answer   competitive sort in all 6 lifetime starts....very hot rider/trainer combo

6  Impregnable   big wake up both in pace and final time....here's your wire to wire repeat attempt

1  Warrens A P Strike   last was the gimme to be full throttle for today's drop and go go go

race 6    average clarity

4  Silk Street   finally on the grass...only grass race was a solid second in GB and at was his maiden debut....blinkers on and a best of 31 bullet just 5 days ago...positive rider switch too

7  Tweebster   last run was an impressive 2 year effort on the grass last August....training as if Baff wants to win fresh off of the bench

12  Preamble   exits a fast heat in his MSW debut which was on the AW....good grass pedigree and a trainer who gets it done 1st on the sod....would have been rated higher but for a difficult 12 post

6  King Red   another with a good shot at the winners circle......decent 2nd down the hill in last and a positive rider switch...barn has a shot at their lone win of the meet on the last day of the meet

race 7    average clarity

2  Wells Fargo   both lifetime sprints on the AW fit well for the level...sprint today...two decent recent reassuring drills

14  Greeley's Ghost   Gaines has this one ready off of the long hiatus from the track...she's due to break out of a slump

11  Royally Smart   off a little tardy and then ran evenly in a 5F tune-up.....can sit much closer with a good break....big price

10  Steel Blue   nice wake up with the blinkers on......2 months off since but training OK to maybe be ready to fire again

race 8    slightly below average clarity

4  Squallcreek   back quick off of a route this speed horse appears to have enough speed to get loose in reasonable pace in his 1st ever hill race and with Smith in the irons

1  Cadillac   last time this gelding ran back with less than a month off he fired a solid fig..that's the case today and Bejarano wants the mount...a good sign

3  Giganticus  dropped in last and won and drops again....coin toss on whether his health has remained intact

2  Incurable Lou   almost 2 years off but owns some big grass figs.....tough to tell if this one is ready but Avila sure is capable with these kind

race 9    slightly above average clarity

3  Street Car   you think this one is ready fresh?    worked 22 furlongs in the last 21 days including 2 impressive bullets...owns good early speed......wire to wire attempt

2  Mr. Hot Stuff   simply put...very big figs for this level but seems to find a way not to win......might be a hanger

6  Roar Of Applause   Mitchell has had a nice week to finish the meeting...this gelding seems to prefer the AW and gets it in 2nd time out under Mitchell's tutelage

race 10    above average clarity

10  Bourbon Bay   one of the most  impressive S Cal marathon specialists in at least a 1/2 a decade...in the right barn too

4  Falcon Rock   big 1st in the USA run in last.......bred to run forever so the extra 1/4 is a plus

2  Romp   continues to prove he appreciates running long, very long

9  Tap It Light   big Grade 3 win in a marathon on the AW was impressive...will try to duplicate that race on the sod today

3  Yodelen Dan   bred to prefer 5 furlongs not 14 but sure doesn't run like it
