Del Mar for Friday 30 July 2010

[private]

Handicappers Corner

Best looking card so far at Del Mar. Seemingly very few horses to be concerned about outside of the selections we made.

Race 1    above average clarity

2  Connagher   solid pace and final time in his 2nd lifetime race.....repeat of that effort would be tough for anyone but our 2nd choie to beat

6  Oak Kye Why   powerful maiden debut breaking a little tardy....chasing.....and finishing well.....can get the same chase position here

3  Sammy's A Runnin'   in good form and appreciates the Dmr synthetic surface.....has a shot at upsetting the top 2 if they duel

race 2    average clarity

11  Winter Camp    might have the most early speed of any horse on the grounds....so 5F should be right up his alley if he handles the sod...possesses average turf breeding

4  Unionize   consistent runs in all his lifetime sprint races on the turf or dirt....good shot to get a good mid pack position and make his move in the stretch

3  Raetodandty   a 5 furlong turf sprint seems like a good fit for this gelding who flattens out a little at 6F

1  Wildcat Nation   last looks like the gimme to be full throttle today in his 1st run on the grass....good turf breeding

race 3    average clarity

3  Sparrow   very impressive work series in Kentucky for this 1ster and W Ward is outstanding with maiden claiming 1sters

11  Lucky Sis   vast improvement in last with the blinks on....positive rider switch....I am concerned about 7 races run for a 2 year old thru mid July....ought to be a law

5  Missilette   just missed only time in Maiden claiming......should be prominent from the get go

9  Darling Disarray   solid work series for Hollendorfer at Pln....worked 34 furlongs in 1 month.....seems like a healthy fit filly

race 4    average clarity

3  Dee Dee's Legacy   only 9 races in 4 years for this fellow but he seems to fire every time and his limited history back 5 or 6 weeks is solid....should be prominent thru-out

7  One Vote   sure like the sharpest work in some time (and at Dmr) for this gelding especially coming off of a win

5  Candy Coated   owns some decent speed in a race that lacks it......race 2 back is solid

4  Taxi Fleet   O'Neal gave this horse a five week break and has put a couple of sharp works in him....might fire a much better effort today

race 5    average clarity

1  Cee's Pryme   excellent works for a CA 1ster who looks like he has been pointed for the prestigious Dmr meet for some time...Gaines barn is finally heating up

3  Full Effect   solid wake up in last for Santiago Reyes who seems to get the best out of this animal

8  Absoluitelypositivly   off 1/3 of a year but is training very sharply.....same scenario last year when he ran 2nd at Dmr on 29 July

6  Armenian Star   good work tab for a small but capable trainer who is a good judge of young horses

race 6    above average clarity

7  Warren's Jitterbug   right there versus much better on the turf or AW.....laid up but the drills say ready

4  Catie's Secret   on the right end of the learning curve.....best works yet.......and top connections...highly likely sitting on a good race

6  Road To Reason   seems to run much better taken back a little and I believe that will be the strategy today.....very sharp drills for this

1  Ashee   nice layoff turf sprint in her last and was snatched at the claiming box by the ever dangerous 1st after the claim Mullins

race 7    average clarity

3  Unusual Suspect   earned an excellent grass fig in last and won this Grade 3 race off of a turf effort  in 2009 which wasn't nearly as good

5  Richard's Kid  confindence builder today running in a Grade 3 and attempting to get that winning feeling again

6  Temple City   on or near the lead in what looks like a slow pace up front....barn has woken up.........very dangerous

race 8    average clarity

2  No Stadium  has run creditably versus much tougher in route affairs...tuned up in last and ready to roll

10  Casa O   impressive 1st run at a route and it was at 1 1/8 miles....should have plenty in the tank at 1 1/16 and many in here won't

3  Royal Drum   drops out of MSW racing......race fig (on the sod) 2 races back fits in this field

7  Dave's Ruler   last was the tune-up versus way better to drop and be full throttle today..... barn has a stellar history dropping out of MSW races

5  Body Builder   rounding into form and Canani is starting to awaken after a long drought as far as winners is concerned
