Del Mar for Wednesday 18 August 2010

Handicappers Corner

Looks like a decent looking Weds. card with some quality. At first glance Thurs. looks good as well.

5th race pick 4 part wheels that look worth the investment

[private]

4 / 3 / 2,4,6,7 / 3,4,5,8,10

4 / 5,6,8 / 7 / 3,4,5,8,10

1,2,5 / 3 / 7 / 3,4,5,8,10    50 total wagers

race 1    average clarity

3  Hi Ho Yodeler    sure appeared to appreciate the Dmr synthetic in her latest with a nice forward move.....barn's horse's have been firing better than their record indicates

5  Cathy's Crunches   has done little wrong in winning both lifetime races....will need a small move forward but her recent solid work indicates she will

race 2    average clarity

3  Lutess   last is fine but what we really want is her debut run 2 back which would make her difficult to beat here

2  Miss Picaboo   2 strong extremely strong effort/figs for today's level...somewhat due to tail off but "bingo" if she doesn't

1  Grand Mischief   solid work series series says Sadler hs this filly all set to roll in her Maiden claiming debut

race 3    average clarity

2  Full On   very good speed in a race seemingly set for front runners and P Val is aboard...great combination

4  Cajun Gent    broke bad / climbing  / restrained..........now drops.....mmmmmm

6  De Car Guy   Likes Dmr and showed it in a wake up last run....will need more pace than anticipated to show his best

7  Conga Rock   may have needed last...if so....fits fine on the drop in claiming price

race 4    average clarity

1  Winning Desire   good looking work series that finished strong at the end says this gelding is peaking for his debut into the world of racing

7  American Wildcat   will try to get away from the field and wire using his best asset...his strong early speed

6  Real Heart   last looks like the gimme in a MSW affair to leg up...drop....and go in today's maiden claimer

4  No Afillyation   solid 6F work to finish his work tab and it was only 5 days ago...good indication off feeling good right now when it counts

race 5    above average clarity

4  North Fork   3 for 4 at the distance and 3 for 3 at Dmr...no reason not to think we won't see another solid Dmr run today

1  Cee's Prime   best speed in the race and inside position.....will try to make it 2 for 2 lifetime most likely with a front or near front end score

5  Quillotano   very very positive rider switch especially for a horse that likes to do his best running late

2  Sammy's A Runnin'   improved efforts with the blinkers on in last 2 sprints....1st at a route...barn is decent 1st time running long

race 6    above average clarity

3  California Flag   one of the best turf sprinters in the world...only a nasty nasty speed duel can stop him

6  My Summer Slew   improving horse in 4 straight grass efforts according to my Top Turf Today file......may get a nice mid pack ground saving position behind a speed duel or at least a very lively pace

5  Cost Of Freedom   1st class sprinter on the AW has good turf breeding and a good grass drill with the "dogs up" reinforces that...needs to avoid a speed duel with our top pick

8  Stoneside   closer will fly if the pacesetters set suicidile early fractions

race 7    slightly above average clarity

7  Crisis Of Spirit   2 consecutive grass mile runs should leg this quality AW filly sprinter up nicely.....last 2 Grade 3 runs are better than they look on paper

2  Pincelada   hot barn takes over this filly and it looks like they have improved her according to her morning work...also looks like she should on or near the pace in what maybe a reasonable pace up front

4  Softly Swinging   last two races back in 3 weeks rest were solid efforts and that is the rest scenario for today

6  Fund Raiser   very consistent sort should sit close and put in another competitive effort

race 8    slightly above average clarity

10  Tribal Nation  not the easiest of posts but a positive rider switch...good finisher late and many in here may not be

8  Sammartino   1st ever at a turf route but showed good speed in a grass sprint and with P Val up that sprint speed as a great shot at going a long way

5  Marino's Star   had his prep and in it he showed plenty of life...1st long and 1st on the sod but pedigree suggests he will handle 1 mile on the grass

4  Mediterrano   steps up after a decent AW sprint maiden claiming debut....bred to possibly prefer the grass....also bred t appreciate two turns

3  Minister D'oro   bit short on figs but somewhat makes up for it with smooth intelligent trips...and that Bejarano guy helps some too
