Del Mar for Wednesday 25 August 2010
Handicappers Corner
Day starts with a beatable favorite in the 1st.
Recommended pick 3 part wheel for the day starts in race 6. (Sunday our recommended pick 3 play where we played against 3 vulnerable morning line favorites made us a profit of just shy of 600%.Â

6th race pick 3:    2,3,5,12 with 1,2,3,5 with 2,5,8 Â
Â
race 1Â Â Â average clarity
4 Darling Discovery  displayed decent pace in her MC debut....3 nice drills since since and a small but reassuring rise in claiming price
2 Darling Ciana  broke poorly and rushed up a little and went wide from a difficult post for a 1st timer....the learning experience and a better post should help her get the trip today
5 Chaturunga  good 2nd place MC debut and a useful 4F drill since....should move forward
Â
race 2Â Â Â below average clarity
4 Sufi Dancer  plenty of speed in this affair seemingly sets things up for a closer....Bejarano might be licking his chops coming for home
3 Straightomidnight  overdo drop for this colt who needs to earn a few bucks and get his balance sheet a little closer to even
1 Self Made  deep closer should get the aforementioned strong pace to aid his late run
Â
race 3Â Â Â average clarity
3 Acaffella  R Mandella is all business withthis 2 year old 1st timer going a route of ground on the turf......easily the best foundation (preparation) for a baby to have the endurance to last.....his series of 3 7F drills would be impressive for a 3 year old 1ster little lone a 2 year old
7 Lagoon Of Diamonds  good sprint tune-up and stellar breeding to go long and handle the sod....and then of course there is that Baffert guy
6 Extra Fifty  this 1st timer trains as if he has early speed and bred to handle the distance and the surface
Â
race 4Â Â Â average clarity
6 Mind The Minister  has only run twice around two turns on the AW and those two races are impressive...O Garcia smartly keeps him in a two turn affair and retains P Val
2 Skellytown  keeps dropping and running strong efforts but has yet to win for Mitchell...down we drop again
10 Fiery Trippi  all his races on the AW going back to Nov of 2009 fit at today's level
4 Bandreira Union   speed horse took back and rated off the pace to win in a sprint and earned a decent fig...give a route race race a try and I think he might fire again if he takes back again
Â
race 5Â Â Â average clarity
2 Sugar Spike  good early speed versus this group and the abbreviated 5F distance looks like a good fit
7 Neeko  showed ample promise a year ago with 2 solid races....long layoff but improving work pattern finishing with 2 solid grass drills says....ready ready ready
3 Cactus Flower  nice filly is trouble if ready but I have mixed signals if she is or not
5 Can't Topper  solid late runner seemingly needs more pace than anticipated to put in a winning close
Â
race 6Â Â Â average clarity
5 Entabeni  only 10 starts in 2 years so why not drop way down especially with Fairplex up next....by the way I absolutely loved Fpx last year....so if you need a break you might want to choose some other time of year
12 Warren's Ruby  race lacks speed and this filly has some and my favorite speed rider on the grounds is up....Mr Pat Valenzuela
2 Really Elegant  here is the other horse that should be on or near what looks like a workable paceÂ
3 Mary Strong  logical drop and tactical speed make her a factor in this affair
Â
race 7Â Â Â average clarity
3 Massone  very very strong late kick....he is better than he appears on paper......McAnally just won the prestigious Beverly D at AP so he is in that confident mode...often important for trainers and horse players
2 Oil Man  strong races last Summer....hidden rebound in last is somewhat hidden with a bad trip
1 Sky Cape  very sharp drills out of nowhere hints that a big rebound in form is likely to occur today....Mulhall is quietly having a strong Del Mar meet
5 Cayambe  terrific job by V Garcia since he snatched this gelding for only 25K......keeps out running his odds
Â
race 8Â Â Â above average clarity
2 Excellent Point  bred to be a precocious 2 year old and training as if she will live up to that in her maiden claiming debut
5 Warren's Idol  earned a par like fig for today's level losing 5 or 6 lengths of trip trouble...blinkers on to help smooth the kinks out...and...barn is better 2nd time out of the box
8 Table For One  3 of her 4 lifetime races fit fine....Bejarano sticks with the young fillyÂ
3 Fil'slastscore  probably needed her debut last and should show more today
1 Sly Kitty  same as scenario as our 4th selection
