Hollywood for Saturday 20 Nov 2010

[private]

Rain in the forecast. Believe they will be off the turf but I studied for both surfaces just in case.  Hope we get a fair surface with the rain falling a good portion of the day.

race 1    slightly above average clarity

2  Sweet And Jazzy    exits a fast heat.....appreciates the Hollywood synthetic.....very likely to be on or near the lead thru-out

6  Los Veinte   another exiting a fast race for the given level.......can range up from the outside in a nice stalking position

4  Binky's Sister   filly appears to be on the right end of the learning curve.....trainer has a solid record 3rd out after a layoff

race 2    slightly above average clarity

7  Big Son Of A Gun    earned a significant fig with a very wide journey in last and it was his 1st ever at a route.......trainer is terrific 1st after the claim....trainer/rider are red hot as a team

4  Tak Gamo    ran off with a young inexperienced jock in last...switch to Espinoza can relax this colt and make him a front running threat to win this

3  Big Kiss   very bad trip in last hides a decent move forward

race 3 selections for the main track   average clarity

(If the race stays on the turf picks are  2-6-7-4 )

2  Gold Star Status    poor trip sprinting in last hides the improvement Cavara put into this horse...the one to beat turf or AW

1  Equiparado   the only races the impress me for this ARG gelding are his efforts around 2 turns on the main track....has the speed in him to possible be dangerously loose here

7  El Merito   strong move forward 2nd out after the extended layoff last year....same scenario today...does have to prove he get handle the AW surface

4  Booyah   best set of drills from the Fanning barn in many a moon...Nakatani is red hot....sure hope he stays that way...the more top echelon riders at the S Cal circuit the better

race 4    average clarity

8  Thirtyfirststreet   solid 2nd in MSW debut running on a suspect rail and getting blocked a little on the turn....that effort with a better trip or a move forward with a similar trip would make him tough to beat here

3  Husband's Folly   decent MSW debut at Fpx and he went off 23 to 1 which leaves me to believe he wasn't all that cranked up for his debut and that we'll see more horse today

2  Titian   bet hard in MSW debut and showed good speed and then tired....Machowsky since then has smartly put some endurance work into this gelding...good likelihood to have the staying power to stick around when it counts

7  Kalyra   another Puype charge that looks as if his debut was a bit of a tune-up to be full throttle in his 2nd lifetime start

race 5    slightly below average clarity

2  Mr. Monkey Jones    stellar recent drills for this consistent horse that leads me to believe that Hollendorfer knew what he was doing with this gelding when he claimed him

5  Nikki'sgoldensteed   solid close in last into little pace...earned a decent hard earned fig

1  Galleta Monstruo   o for 6 on the turf....3 for 4 on the AW......barn finally has it figured out they don't have a turf runner but an improving AW runner

race 6    average clarity

7  Shane Daniel   all 3 races runs at 6F of less would handle this group.....logical drop after no wins in 5 MSW affairs

2  Gregor   decent debut and a positive rider switch...should see more today

10  Spud Spivens   showed life in both races on the AW....aggressive work series should have ready fresh

5  Brite Red Ransom   not much of a 1st start trainer but the works have gotten progressively better.....might be ready at 1st asking

race 7  selections for the main track  average clarity

(If the race stays on the turf the picks are 3-2-7-8)

8  Hot Affair   very impressive stretch run in winning MSW race...can nicely range up from the outside

7  Stunning Aly   on the right end of the learning curve....also can range up from the outside and get a good chase / stalk position

6  Salty Sarah   strange that Baff claimed a cheap horse but he won easy at 1st asking on the step up and up he goes once again....very strong 4F bullet drill suggests she may be up to the new challenge

3  Pink Diamond   powerful sprint turf figs.......fits solidly if she can run close to those figures today on the AW

race 8    slightly above average clarity

5  Premier Pegasus   most impressive small Stakes win in last breaking a little slow and showing strong pace...bred fine to get the extended sprint distance

4  High Level Jeff   private purchase from Crc sure ran big on the dirt....major factor if he can do the same on the synthetic

2  Industry Leader   pounded at the windows in career 1st start and didn't disappoint.....impressive 5/8ths near bullet drill since....fits fine here

race 9   slightly above average clarity

9  Lutess   all 3 races run at 6 furlongs for this horse will take this unless she gets one heck of a bad trip

8  Miss Addy Kiss   both races run fit at this level....will need to move forward to beat our top choice if she is the same animal

11  Dubai Macau Girl   runs OK fresh like today.....again will need to move forward to upset our top pick

6  Meadow Lake Queen

12  Warren's Grandslam
