Santa Anita for Sunday 9 Jan 2011
Don't want to jinx things but I'm starting to feel locked in as far as the new racing surface at SA is concerned.
Take note of the nice morning line for our top pick in the above average rated 5th race.

race 1Â Â Â slightly above average clarity
1 Spectacular Sky  broke tardy in last and chased a decent pace.....same effort with an OK trip and should with if she holds form
3 Hard To Resist  exits a fast heat where she was 16 to 1 in her MSW debut and she only got beat by 3 3/4 lengths.....solid drill since...very likely to move forward....jock is cold...good time to capture a win and jump start his meet
Â
race 2Â Â Â average clarity
6 Holy Flapper  filly seemingly is at her best fresh off of the bench like today and the strong morning work supports this conclusion
1 Rainbow Luck  easily fired her best ever on the main track in latest.......and I believe she is a better horse on the sod....good shot for a top effort from a good post with a good rider
2 Siberian Heat  responses to short rest and responses to Espinoza in the saddle...that's what we have for her today
7 Bellini Bliss  didn't beat much in last but Gaines is very tough coming off a winning effort
Â
race 3Â Â Â average clarity
4 May Day Rose   on the improve with every start.....white hot Bob Baffert.....learned how to chase in last and that can come in handy here
3 Zazu   I believe both the 2 and the 5 will go hard after the lead which will help sets things up for this Sadler mid pack runner who had a wide trip in her last or would have been much closer....tandem of Talamo/Sadler has been red hot of late
Â
race 4Â Â Â average clarity
3 Capture The Call  last race back in short rest was a solid effort...back quick today and looks loose with the weight off for the app and entering for 2K less than the 20K tag
1 Marquet Rebel  positive rider switch and back to a level he can handle....can get a nice ground saving mid pack position
2 Bello Purse  0 for 7 off the board on the AW.....3 for 4 on the dirt in BRZ in the win column.....AW figs aren't too bad...so...might see a much more competitive run today on the dirt-a-rooo
Â
race 5Â Â Â above average clarity
4 Le' Heat  definitely on the right end of the learning cure......very sharp recent bullet drill...and a major switch in riders for the turf...bred to run all day so the 1 1/8 distance can help.....rather sure we see best ever today
6 Excelling  race lacks speed and this colt seems to have the most.....wire to wire shot
5 Cantona  bred to show even more at 1 1/8 and this deep closer has Gomez up who excels with deep closers on the lawn
2 Absolutlypositivly  consistent sort needs to get over flattening out in late stretch when the real turf running begins....is in very good form
Â
race 6   average clarity
2 Nitro Active   seemingly not in the best of health but this significant drop down looks like the controlling speed and can dominate thru-out if he is still up to the task
4 Bad Boy  continues to run monster efforts at the bottom level no matter who takes over the reigns...will need another because he is a closer in a seemingly paceless affair
3 Self Insured  good in last in a dirt surface with lots of moisture in it....race 2 back is a very big number...fast dirt today
6 Proud Cardenal  last was decent and can sit close up which as I said looks like an advantageous position here
Â
race 7Â Â Â average clarity
3 Money Lover wrong positionrelative to the pace in only 2 lifetime grass races hide those decent efforts...Bejarano can get it right today
5 Russian River  on the improve and a very strong work series for a guy like Mitchell suggest another forward move might occur
1 Speeler  overseas invader needed last and a good likelihood moves forward....same difficult 1 post on the hill again
8 Catchy Tune  definitely on the right end of the learning curve and just popped a very strong 5F drill last week...feeling gooooood
Â
race 8Â Â Â average clarity
6 C Tizz Run  2 strong efforts in 2 lifetime starts and can be prominent from the get go...working fine on the SA new surface
1 He's A Dance Star lone dirt race which was at Fpx was most impressive for a MSW 1ster both visually and time wise
5 No Grande  last 4 of 6 races fit well and this is his 3rd after a layoff which is a strong stat for trainer Zamora
8 Hot Damon  only lifetime main track sprint race (albeit on the AW) was a bad trip powerful fig......long layoff but training as if he is ready
Â
race 9Â Â Â average clarity
6 Fairway Road  very consistent since the blinkers were added...just claimed by a hot barn...both sprints on the grass are good...only ? mark for me is 1st on the hill
8 Nothing To Fear  solid stretch run in only grass race (a sprint) closing into a lack of pace set up front....low % jock up that day and today we have Rosario
9 Glory Pride  needed last....whole career on the sod fig wise fits fine here...biggest ? mark appears to be 1st in a turf sprint and 1st on the hill
1 Moon Stone Madness  big score for us 2 back at 24 to 1.....then tossed a clunker.....surely can rebound if he breaks well from a difficult post on the hill...likes contact to the front end of things
2 Seeking The Queen  appears to be on the lead here and will need a soft pace as she sure isn't crazy about running past 6 furlongs in a race
