Santa Anita for Sunday 23 Jan 2011
[private]
Carry-over......decent card.....but more importantly for Chicagoans it is the NFC Championship and it is against arguably the best rivalry in all of sports Bears-Packers......hoping for a great day in more ways than one....besides there isn't any horse racing and few customers in cheeseland
Â
GO BEARS
Â
Â
race 1Â Â Â average clarity
3 Bertran Hill  improved work tab and Rosario sticks around....decent opportunity to sit behind two speed types duking it out in a nice stalk position
2 Elusive Moment very consistent runner since the blinkers were added ...handle "real" dirt in only race on it run over at Fpx
6 Mark Of A Warrior  consistent sort sure ran well 1st ever on the conventional SA dirt surface....smartly steps up...a good sign he exited his last feeling good
Â
race 2Â Â Â slightly above average clarity
6 Ten Devils  impressive late runner in both lifetime starts on the sod....small field to cope with will make it a fairly easy task to negotiate traffic from off of it
4 Ronin Dax  way better than appears on paper with multiple brutal trips on the turf and main track...blinkers on and worked extremely well suggesting they may have cured him of his poor starts out of the gate.....P Val should help as well
2 Dominator  positive rider switch may aid in getting this gelding to fire his effort 2 back that fits here
Â
race 3Â Â Â average clarity
5 Lucky Timing  broke 4 slow and ran 4 wide in a lousy trip mc debut 3 weeks ago.....Blanc is riding hot albeit mostly on the turf (Le' Heat Sat at $24.20 on our top selection) ...2 reassuring drills since last
4 Toscanova  takes the ever dangerous drop out of MSW....1st on the main track but has consistently trained up a storm at Slr...never showed speed in 2 turf races but trains like he has it and P Val is upÂ
1 Harborton  blinkers off after blinkers on in last may have caused a clunker 1st time in the Gary Stute barn....recent drill is solid and trainer is solid 2nd time off under his guidance
Â
race 4Â Â Â average clarity
2 Jax El  trainer is hot....rider has experience on the horse....works suggest he couldn't feel better.....definitely better than appearance on paper will lead most to believe
5 Meltarib  decent debut and should have more animal today...training is having a good start to the SA Meeting...1st on the turf is a ? mark
3 Unknown Heat  blinkers on in last helped this mare's speed and now she cuts back in distance 1 1/2 furlongs...can be prominent from the get go...tends to hang
4 Team Builder so so debut way back in March but decent grass pedigree and Gaines is a dangerous trainer
Â
race 5Â Â Â slightly below average clarity
4 Skylights  long hiatus from the racetrack but training as if ready and well placed to win
7 Sunny Peace  won her 1st run ever on "real" dirt in last.....so so fig...race 2 back is stronger
8 Argenta  very positive rider switch and Mulhall wins at a very high % 1st out after a claim
3 Sky Brite Mesa  3 wins in a row since switched from sprinting to routing....claimed...and steps up for new barn
Â
race 6Â Â Â average clarity
5 Lead Blocker   bombs away if we get this geldings debut race (effort) 2 back.....would take this affair even with a so so trip
8 Wild Hombre  positive rider switch especially on a late runner...good shot to move forward 2nd out after the layoff
6 Secret Jackpot  multiple bad trips in a row...due a good one...maybe appropriately named if with get a good one today
2 Member Ofthe Tribe  long layoff off of one weak lifetime start.....new barn....training like a much improved animal
Â
race 7Â Â Â slightly above average clarity
11 Nextdoorneighbor  kept catching some of the best 3 year olds around S Cal all of 2010..when he didn't he crushed the field by 4....no Sidneys Candy...Alcindors...Alphies Bet....Indian Firewater's here
9 Hot Damon  excellent 1st run on the "real dirt" in last and it was off a 11 month layoff.....good chance to get a nice mid pack position with Rosario up
3 Streakin Mohican  owns significant early speed....P Val will try to wire and can if the 10 horse doesn't put enough heat early
6 Korban  last was a Martin Jones tune-up to be at full throttle today 2nd out after the long hiatus from the racetrack
Â
race 8Â Â Â slightly above average clarity
3 Lilly Fa Pootz  powerful figs on Top Turf Today run back in mid Summer and they both came off relatively short rest......short rest today
1 Southern Fireball  can get a good chase position behind the 2 horse....loves to have someone in front of him to chase...big factor if the pace set is reasonable
5 It Tiz  take a look at this ones record in non Graded races...always a factor on the turf or the main track
Â
race 9Â Â Â average clarity
6 Dave's Pacemaker  training great and proven fresh under the auspicious of today's conditioner
2 The Whammer  really appreciates conventional dirt...all three lifetime races on it fit and good shot moves forward 2nd after the layoff
9 Slam Slew  only 10 lifetime races in 4 years so there is a good chance Mandella will have all set off the 2 month layoff...works support this conclusion
7 Justice Reigns  decent 1st ever on conventional dirt running wide and still closing fast....small but capable barn
8 Brenthurst  double the price in claiming step up in last run on the sod says gimme / go go go today dropping back in claiming tag
