Santa Anita for Thursday 3 Feb 2011

[private]

Sure hope Rosario gets another hat trick like he did on Sunday because we have him as our top selection in 3 of the 4 races he is scheduled to ride today. He is not the morning line favorite in any of the 3 races. Also, those 3 races are in a row starting in the 4th.  Hmmm.

race 1    average clarity

3  Two Violins   sure looks like this gelding can get loose in this affair lacking pacesetters...good speed rider aboard

7  Raingear   1 year hiatus from the track but drops into easier for his new conditioner off of very impressive works for an 8K claimer

1  Brinson   decent move forward in latest and now we get a positive change in riders

race 2    average clarity

5  All Star Heart   slow developing animal seems to have figured things out under the tutelage of R McAnally.....sure took to the SA grass course in his 1st run over it...recent sharp (4 days ago) 5F drill is most reassuring

2  Bar Rock Omama   love horses coming off of a soft paced wire to wire effort (don't stress or exert themselves) like this filly did in her last which was on the main track...1st on the sod but bred fine for it

6  First Settler   OK history with 2 or 3 months rest and the recent work tab suggests she is ready to be competitive off a 2 month break this time

race 3    average clarity

4  Stormin Proud Papa   speedster learned how to compete from off the pace a little in latest and that can come in handy here with too many speed types butting heads...seems sharp showing a strong 4F recent drill

2  Winning Desire   consistent closer should come roaring late with all the speed types in this affair

8  Devour   another who does his best running late in a seemingly good spot to be a closer type

7  Warrens Good Storm   laid up deep closer is training like he is ready to roll fresh off of the bench and gets a positive rider change

race 4    average clarity

6  Magical Instinct   appreciates today's 6 1/2 furlong distance....last time up for claiming (and at 40K) ran his lifetime best which is quite good versus these

5  Fleet Continental   after dropping sharply in last it seems positive the barn steps him up 10K in mc claiming....likely lone speed might wire

7  Relentless Heat   decent MSW debut 2 races back....toss out 2nd start because he acted up too much at the gate.....drops...may get a very nice chase position behind our 2nd choice...keep an eye on his behavior at the gate

2  Twoatten Tenattwo   only lifetime race was an OK effort run way back in early April of 2010....trainer has been somewhat hot and has this colt working impressively...much more impressively then last Winter/Spring before his mc debut

race 5    average clarity

7  Time For Atonement   seems to run better on conventional dirt than AW surfaces.....blinkers off and his recent works are better...sure like the small rise in claiming price for a guy like Hollendorfer who places his stock where they can win

1  Bradium   good history from the 1 or 2 post...26 to 1 in a non-claiming affair has gimme written all over it....drop and go go go today

3  Maybe Yes   sharp races 2nd after the layoff...today's scenario....also fires when his barn drops like today

6  Summers At Delmar   consistent sort just got snatched at the claiming box and his new connections smartly leave Talamo up who rides and knows this gelding well

race 6    average clarity

5  Cook Inlet   broke poorly and then showed good ability from there in his MSW debut in a sprint race....long today and bred to handle it just fine....and has the support of top connections to help get the job done negotiating two turns

9  Houston Harbor   good debut at CD then an even better race at SA both in pace and final time....tough post for 1st ever at a route but owns enough early gas to clear all or many and get over to save ground on turn 1

3  Special Kid   on the improve with every start.....very aggressive work tab from O'Neill suggests he means business

6  Fusa Code   last was just OK...race 2 back run at CD in Nov. fits well

race 7    average clarity

6  C Tizzy Run   all three lifetime starts which were run on the main track are good efforts.....like the pedigree to at least handle the grass and potentially be even better on the lawn

1  He's A Dance Star   all 4 lifetime races fit turf or dirt....getting to know the 1 post well....4th straight race starting from the 1 hole....

3  Papa Lev   flashed vastly improved speed out of nowhere in last in a turf route...then....worked extremely fast...faster then he ever has....seems very sharp...trainer has changed something drastically

5  Mark The Bench   be rebound in form in latest after a couple of clunkers......proven can handle the SA hill course...rather impressive only lost by a couple to Amazombie last Spring on the hill

race 8    slightly above average clarity

6  Cat In The Forest   exits a very fast heat down the hill in a MSW affair....big work 4F bullet work just 6 days ago on the new SA surface...good speed and P Val aboard...see ya

2  Preferred Mandate   maiden debut 2 back is good....unruly at the gate in 2nd lifetime start....toss it out.....positive rider switch...rebound likely today

10  Genius Level   1st timers owns a good work series for the mc30K level even for Headleywho pushes his stock hard in the morning....trainer is solid with 1st timers starting for a tag

3  Just Jumped In   beaten by 10 and 15 lengths in his 2 lifetime starts but they were in 2 very fast heats....only needs a small move forward

8  Honor Among Us   decent debut and a solid drill since....should show more in 2nd lifetime start in the hands of a capable conditioner
