Santa Anita for Friday 11 Feb 2011
[private]
Sorry for the false alarm about high winds in the fore-cast. Good thing I didn't stick with my early career path which was Meteorology. Guess I like endeavors where you only have to be right some of the time. Hope I'm more right then wrong today. Good Luck!
Â
race 1Â Â Â average clarity
7 Millie N Marie  bad trip 2nd last Fall at Fpx in lone lifetime race....training exceptionally well for this level....trainer is solid with 2nd time starters
2 Limerick Lane  broke slow and then wide in mc debut last......solid drill since and blinkers on.....forward move seems highly likey
4 Real Rockport  cut back to 5 1/2 furlongs should aid in the staying power for this speed filly
1 Random Luck  work tab hints that this 1ster might be ready to roll.....P Val up suggests this filly might have a early speed
Â
race 2Â Â Â average clarity
5 Mr. Saturdaynight  nice tune-up sprint in layoff run last......impressive 6F drill since......race lacks speed and this gelding has some...can get good position on or near a soft pace
2 Dave's Ruler  very consistent runner has multiple efforts/figs that fit at this level....Canani just snatched at the claiming box and has a solid 4F drill put into his new runner
3 Manogold  seemingly sharp now but this deep closer will need more pace up front than anticipated to put in his best stretch run
Â
race 3Â Â Â average clarity
4 Lunch Time Diva  owns some powerful figs on the AW and is bred decently to handle her 1st ever run on the sod
6 Miss Resplendere  I love horses who exit a fast heat with a bad trip like this girl did in her MSW debut down the SA hill turf course....also has an eye popping 5F drill since...1st time lasix and blinkers......can fire at a price
9 Duda Ten  Canani is not a 1st start trainer but likes to fire 2nd time out...recent work tab suggests he is attempting to put some speed into this filly...expecting more more in today's 2nd lifetime start
2 Lemon Drop Ridge  decent last on the AW and just claimed by Mulhall who is stellar 1st out after the claim....only turf race ever is OK
Â
race 4Â Â Â average clarity
2 Burns  earned a solid adjusted fig for trouble in last that fits nicely at this higher level.....route fit is usually a good thing cutting back to the extended sprint distance of 7F especially for Cal bred races
7 Woodman's Luck  blinkers on and the works sure are much improved for this Puype colt.....6 weeks off but I'm rather sure this horse is ready for a good effort
5 Shred The Secrets  done nothing wrong in 2 lifetime starts and owns good early speed in this spot....should be prominent from the get go
6 Drink At Buster's  can get a nice stalking position behind a couple of speed types in this spot...needs only a small forward move and he would be as good as anyone in here
Â
race 5Â Â Â average clarity
6 Cantona  deep closer seemingly gets enough pace in this spot to put a good closing effort....love Gomez on late running turf horses
2 Absolutlypositivly  very consistent gelding puts the blinkers back on and is training sharply in hopes of overcoming his bad tendency to hang in late stretch when it counts the most
1 Excusemecomingthru  good early speed + P Val + 1 post + turf rail at 24 feet = possible wire to wire effort
9 Lucky Jim  decent debut and would have rated higher in my selections if it wasn't for a nasty post at 1 mile with the rail all the way out....(short run to turn 1)....will need a great ride from Espinoza
Â
race 6Â Â Â slightly below average clarity
5 Lukimbi   was facing better and competing fairly well.....laid up since June of 2009 but training sharply...can take this if he returns 80% or > of what he used to be
6 Short Memo  logical drop after 2 decent 5th place efforts in alw races.....fits solidly versus these
11 Lichtenstein  fits fine if he has held his form but the work pattern from a guy like Baffert is a bit sketchy....on ther other handhe can get a nice chase position behind a suspect leader who I believe will be the faint of heart 1 horse
2 Three Pointer  trainer is 5 for 9 in the win column for 2010-2011...big recent 4F drill....dangerous
Â
race 7Â Â Â Â average clarity
3 Polished Nickel  exits a very fast heat winning by 5 1/2 1st time blinkers....repeat of that effort coupled with an ability to rate will make him tough here.....love the big step up...suggests K Walsh is a believer
5 Rumor   crushed foes in MSW debut....very smooth looking runner...the kind that has a good opportunity to show even more in 2nd lifetime start...good work tabÂ
2 Bench Points   hard to argue with 3 for 3 lifetime and all from quite a bit off of the pace......seemingly gets pace to fire into
Â
race 8Â Â Â slightly above average clarity
6 Miss Addy Kiss  on the right end of the learning curve.....last effort with a good trip should take this affair and she may continue to move forward..a ton if she does...should be prominent from the get go
9 Suitable Attire  good history back in 2 weeks rest like today.....route fit a plus usually turning back to 7F
5 Warrens Matchmaker  7 furlongs seems to fit some and just worked quite a bit better then she has been of late.....needs to move forward and may
2 Great Bernadine  seems best at today's 7F distance....race lacks speed and she has some
1 Sexy Melody  small barn has been firing on all cylinders this meet including a win in the 8th yesterday with Joy Scott up...better female rider up on this one
