Santa Anita for Saturday 26 Feb 2011
[private]
Studied the turf races for them being moved to the main track. Also gave some extra contenders in the larger fields because of many anticipated scratches.
Â
race 1Â Â Â below average clarity
6 Angel's Share   logical drop and appears to move up in off going...barn is probably glad to see the race off the turf
4 Finality Philly  needed last and also drops to score with proven ability on off tracks
9 Church Avenue  just snatched at the claiming box and Glatt has this mare training as if she is an improved horse
1Â Entabeni
2Â Flashy Traveler
Â
race 2Â Â Â average clarity
3 Belo Purse  earned a very strong number in last with an extremely wide trip in a fast heat......somewhat of an alarming drop after the claim but 15K purse for an 8K claimer is enticing and the barn will break even if they take this and are claimed
1 Lord Avalon  long hiatus from the track for this consistent sort who is taking an alarming drop...but high % trainer is due to pop after sending out some bad animals......often barns will send out the bad ones 1st to keep trainers from claiming their stock
5 Just Heat  seems to have improved speed on conventional dirt.....may sit on or close to an anticipated soft pace
Â
race 3Â Â Â slightly below average clarity
5 Jacobita  showed good speed in mc debut last.....and now we get a significant rider upgrade...should be prominent from the get go
3 Random Luck  tardy start in mc debut last and then rushed a little and rightfully tired.....better gate break and she can be in the hunt for the win
1 One Bad Romance  basically the same effort in both lifetime starts...only needs to move forward a couple of lengths and she is as good as any in here that has run
Â
race 4Â Â Â average clarity
10 Lady Sweetness  very solid MSW debut caught 3 wide and just missing the win.....that race or better today make him the one to overcome
1,1a ENTRY  1st timer of Sadler's is training as if ready and the 1A's  last sprint which was 3 races back was impressive
6 Cute N Sassy  both lifetime races are par like winning efforts for this level...good sign Rosario sticks around for a 3rd time
4Â Great Passion
11Â Candace Gold
Â
race 5Â Â Â average clarity
8 Really Uptown  small put capable barn....suicidal duel in last versus better seemed rather goofy considering this gelding is very capable of rating kindly.....back to Flores who rides this horse well....good drill since...shot to upset Â
6 Via Verde  needed last and now with get an extremely positive rider switch and the trainer has been red hot with both his quality runners and his cheaper ones
5 Time For Atonement  only the 5 and the 7 are true off pace runners in the field and the 7 adds blinkers which may speed her up in the early stages....lone closers can be just as dangerous as lone speed
7Â Bertran Hill
Â
race 6Â Â Â average clarity
2 Balladry  significant move forward in last...that effort makes him the one to beat here and another improvement and I doubt he is beat
4 Midnight Interlude   useful debut and strong works since....bred to run all day so my guess is Baffert pointed this colt to be at full throttle 1st time at a route
7 Le Mans  another with a debut he can build upon and now Asmussen puts up his "go to" jock Gomez
5Â Red Sharp Humor
Â
race 7Â Â Â slightly above average clarity (picks are fine for the turf too if this Stakes race stays on it)
10 Ultra Blend  lost to the 2 horse in last but was quite a bit better...very wide compromising trip......also we get a positive shift in weights assigned...Sherman has been stellar in Stakes races the past year in S CalÂ
2 Evening Jewel  turf / dirt /Aw.....fires every time.....does get 125 lbsÂ
4 Warren's Got Game  competitive sort gets in light.....has a shot if she takes to the off going and our top two choices don't
5Â Bran Jammas
Â
race 8Â Â Â slightly above average clarity
5 Mr. Commons  tremendous....visually impressive MSW turf win in last......and now training terrifically on the AW over at Hollywood...Shirreffs obviously thinks he will handle the surface at SA and that's good enough for me
3 Oakcrest Drive  on the right end of the learning curve.....well proven he will fire fresh off of the bench like today
4 Chiloquin  done little wrong in 6 lifetime starts.....2 for 2 in the win column on "real dirt".....1st long is somewhat of a ? mark
Â
race 9Â Â Â average clarity
8 Clubhouse Rules  most of this girl's sprint races fit solidly in this spot....trainer could use a win
6 River's Mambo  claimed for 50K running today for 30K.......hmmmmmm.....toss a coin
5 Sweet Consolidator  Bonde horses have been firing and Alicea knows this filly well and seems to get the most out of her
1Â Anirish Attitude
7Â Magicallytown
13Â Stromy Cozzene
