Santa Anita for Thursday 31 March 2011

[private]

The weather fore-cast looks great for the next couple of weeks so the main track should be more predictable and the grass firm making my job of selecting winners a lot easier. Today's card looks very playable giving us a shot at starting off the new race week the right way. Not one race is rated below "average clarity".

race 1    average clarity

3  Full Deputy   step up of 10K in claiming price after his mc debut maybe a sign this colt benefited from his lone start.......in that race he got off tardy and then showed he could run some...forward move seems likely

1  Clearlyaluckyguy   trainer is not known for his ability to get a 1ster ready to roll but the works sure indicate this colt can run some.....drills suggest he has early speed and look who is aboard.....red hot Pat Valenzuela

2  Mandated Bliss   1st starter is training up to snuff to be ready for his debut into the world of thoroughbred racing.......would have rated higher if top trainer didn't put slumping low % jock up

4  Brite Dreamer   moved forward in 2nd lifetime start.....off 8 weeks with the last work showing 3 weeks ago....but then again Rosario/Sadler is one dangerous tandem

race 2    average clarity

3  Job Boss   good drills since winning at today's level in his last.......good history at today's distance....and only true closer in the field of 6...should be flying late

4  Tamborim   2 straight races after a year layoff in alw races (with no support at the windows) look like a pair of afternoon work-outs to drop and go 1st time in claiming

race 3    average clarity

3  Ez Rachel   major awakening in latest in a turf sprint (at 20-1) with the blinkers taken off....race run last October at today's distance is quite decent and trainer is good sprint to route

8  Secret Cove   improving by leaps and bounds and has a reassuring recent drill that hints another move forward might occur...last fits fine with a clean trip

4  Lilly's Perfect   laid up 3 months but sure looks ready to roll fresh off of a nice series of drills.....small but capable barn.....has caught some solid fields in all 3 lifetime turf races and run creditably

5  Ruby Lane   likes the turf.....likes the the distance.....likes to hang....but Rosario seems to get hangers to win more than any rider on the grounds

race 4    average clarity

3  Bella Palooza   solid filly for the 40,000 claiming level.....recent two 4 furlong drills suggest this filly still is in form and is placed to win...something O'Neill isn't afraid to do

2  Brown Is Beige   top gun for Bonde this meet seems to be Gomez so the switch to him appears to be a positive......strong recent bullet work.....hasn't been the best of horses out of the gate...yet still has competed well.....lookout if Gomez breaks him cleanly

4  Taptap I'mgone   won for fun going away in the stretch (living up to her name) 1st out after the claim by Mullins......hit the track 4 times since then so it looks like Mullins still has this filly in good form

race 5    average clarity

5  Uzziah   not only drops but in for 40K taking the 2 lbs off.....great spot for this consistent just a little short in MSW grass horse......these newly carded mc on the grass fit him nicely

4  Reality Ride  solid figs on the main track for the level and bred just fine to handle his 1st ever endeavor on the sod

2  Rightful Image   got a hold of the grass in only race on it  last August closing 7 lengths into a pace that favored horses near the front......ran a strong prep sprint race on the dirt which should set him up nicely for a good effort today

8  Zapeye   chased a strong pace in last and rightfully tired some....cut back of a furlong should greatly aid his staying power

race 6    average clarity

5  Legal Separation   here's a bit of esoteric thinking....monster forward move in last not hanging as usual and winning big....so....I believe all those 2nd's and 3rd's were held down by his tendency to hang....might be quite the animal if that is so and he has figured out what winning is all about

6  Classic Bobby   excellent work series for this laid up colt training as if conventional dirt is a plus....good trainer/rider combo

4  Sierra Spirit   won rather easily in MSW debut on the dirt.......then was only so so in 1st turf run......good chance will feel good coming off a grass race and then running on the dirt as a good majority of horses do

1  Klassy Saint   needs to move forward quite a bit in his 3rd lifetime start as he did in his 2nd lifetime start......we do have a hot trainer and a hot rider help make that happen

race 7    average clarity

1  Sarasota Sunshine   very stout 7F grass sprinter in GB....bad trip in lone grass race in the good old U S of A and it was a route....better trip and back to a sprint and we might see the horse that his connections were hoping for when the purchased her

3  Linda Lou   has been facing better in last 2 races both at today's distance.......trainer has had a good meet and especially good lately

6  Sweet Sophia   recent work tab hints at a rebound to last years form which fits decently in this spot

5  Bab At The Bowster   didn't seem to response to being placed pressing the pace in last.....race 2 back which was her 1st out in 11 months wasn't bad running from off the pace.....seems best to take back in 3rd out after the layoff today

race 8    slightly above average clarity

2  Pink Blanket   broke slowly and rushed in both lifetime races in which she could of won both races with a good start and a more relaxed race.....same horse and just an average trip can win this affair

7  Tuesdays With P   very solid figs for today's mc50K level.....also owns good speed in a race that lacks horses with a front running profile

8  Satin Bouquet   last looks like a possible tune-up at a route to drop and go go go.....Sadler wins at a 30% clip MSW to mc

3  Alpine Echo   filly has worked well before and after lone lifetime race....in that race she broke slowly and ran wide....better journey and a little more horse and she can contend

4  Denali Moon   24 to 1 in MSW debut strongly suggests that was the gimme to drop and fire today in 2nd lifetime start......series of 4 nice works since support this
