Santa Anita for Friday 8 April 2011

[private]

Repeat after me....Let's go Rafeal....Let's go Rafael.....Let's go Rafael

Bejarano has 5 mounts today and we have selected him on top in 4 of those mounts

Picks will be posted very early for Saturday for the early 12 noon start.

race 1    average clarity

1  Valor Da Vida   laid up for 11 months but 1st time Canani charge has a good looking work tab for a horse running at the mc20K level

5  Green Dolphin   chased a fast pace and tired late...drops and good shot to much fitter in 2nd lifetime start

4  Tsunami Warming   race 2 back wasn't bad....needs a rebound to that effort and maybe even a little more

race 2    average clarity

5  Blue Maiden   route races are superior efforts versus this group.....last looks nothing more than a turf sprint tune-up

4  Smart Striking   good close into a lack of pace in turf sprint last her 1st in the good old U S of A....had speed overseas and would be wise to tap into here in her 1st ever at a route

3  Gripsholm Castle   in good form...puts in a good finish when taken back some has she has in her last two endeavors

race 3    average clarity

7  Kemper County   pressed a solid pace in mc debut and rightfully tired late....step up seems like a positive sign that we will see more today..should be prominent from the get go

6  Star Dance M D   exits a monster of a MSW affair that was as good as it ever gets......drop will help immensely

3  Forward Appeal   broke a little tardy and caught 3 wide chasing a wicked pace versus way better then he faces in this spot....also Hendricks is good dropping 1st time into maiden claiming and does well with 2nd timers

race 4    average clarity

2  Lisa Cozzene   can't recall ever seeing a condition claiming grass race carded in S Cal....with that in mind I believe Gaines was lured into this easy spot (willing to lose by way of a claim)...solid at this level if still the same animal

3  The Great Atlantic   same reasoning for this dropper as our top pick....very sharp drill a week ago...sharp city

4  Jordanelle   on the improve with every start...steps up quite a bit for 1st ever on the lawn but owns superior turf breeding

8  Good Friday Gal   has improved nicely since the blinks were removed.....also steps up with decent grass breeding...will need a forward effort

race 5    average clarity

2  She Can Roar   broke a little tardy and ran wide in mc debut....drops....2 sharp works since.....and P Val sticks around

3  Youvegotthatright   morning glory so far...maybe the series of long drills will get this horse's head right and she will duplicate her morning promise in the afternoon

8  Oh She So   competitive in all 3 lifetime conventional dirt races.....reassuring recent work suggests she'll compete with vigor once again

6  True Beauty   owned some nice drills leading up to her debut then caught a semi-sloppy main track...may not have liked it so.......

race 6    average clarity

8  Flammable Boom   on the improve since the blinkers were taken off and now we get a serious improvement in riders....rare chance to play Bejarano at a price

10  Romeo Royale   long layoff but lone grass race is good and the work tab says ready

1  Hagibis   39 to 1 for a Puype 1ster says gimme...go today 1st on the grass........bred fine for it

5  Sun's Out   somewhat sporadic work regiment for this 1st timer but Gaines has been ready with most everything she has put on the track for the SA Meeting

NOTE:  11  Relentless Heat   has decent shot with these if draws into the field

race 7    average clarity

6  Renegade Storm   trainer has been getting the job done of late and has a slowly developing gelding that has gotten quite good...very solid trainer/rider combo

7  Yodelen Dan   very consistent sort just missed at 1 mile which is a bit too short for his liking.....can be much more formidable at today's 1 1/8th mile distance

4  Power Series   races in Great Britain fit well here and Mitchell is good with Euro shippers......would have rated higher but he has had a tendency to break bad at times in his overseas races

race 8    average clarity

7  Megaride   like the fact Eurton started this horse in a route...good improve in last and few reasons not to believe things can't continue forward today

5  Popular Cause   might feel real good because he sure is back in short rest...should be prominent from the get go

8  All De Victors   5 lifetime races...3 of them are par like races for this level...1st time P Val has been a dangerous jock switch this meet

3  Dancing Joy   good MSW turf tightener....bred to handle a dirt route.....drop go go go today

4  Alex T   improving...needs even more today
