Hollywood for Thursday 28 April 2011

[private]

Opening day which was last Thursday was a little dead inside and then the next 4 days the track evened out and seemed very fair. What do we get today with another Thursday track?

12 % profit on our top selection after week 1 was close to being in-line with the 14 % profit we showed with our top selection in the 2010 Hollywood Spring/Summer meeting.

race 1    average clarity

5  Monica C C   well proven on the  Hollywood AW.....has won her last 3 races at 1 1/16......ships in off a strong 12.5K turf claimer at GG

1  Tripped The Light   decent shot to clear and get away in this spot lacking front runners...actually...seems to perform well when she has contact near the front whether on the lead or close to it

4  Feed A Fever   needed last....good works since tune-up race....can move forward and may sit in a nice chase or mid pack position

race 2    average clarity

2  Catie's Secret   laid up filly is proven fresh andappears to have found a great spot for her return as lone speed in this 6 horse 8 panel affair....top team of Sadler/Rosario doesn't hurt either

5  Distant Glow    won 1st out under the auspices of the red hot Puype barn and that was off a layoff...reassuring 4F drill since...likely to move forward

6  Streamline Baby   seems to appreciate route racing turf or dirt......scratched out of Sunday's race for this which was seemingly versus tougher.....nice couple of preparatory works

race 3    average clarity

3  Warren's Fancy   not exactly who is who in the pedigree department but training better than anyone in this soft looking group

6  Real Dream   fractious in the gate in 2F affair and still broke well and showed that she at least has speed.....now we get to see if she can get a turn and 4 1/2 F

4  Joseph Joe   decent drills for this 1ster and Solis is off to a good start to the Holly Spring/Summer meeting after having a poor meeting at SA

8  Gogi  training up to snuff to be considered ready to roll in mc debut....will need a clever ride from the 8 hole not to get caught wide as the turn comes up quick in these 4 1/2 F affairs

race 4    slightly below average clarity

2  Lemon Drop Kid   improved adjusted for trouble final time and pace fig in last.....likes Hollywood and training aggressively

6  Secret Oath   last looks like nothing more than a leg up on the sod for this mare has good history turf to AW....Marty Jones barn is hot

4  Warren's Peacock   jock is off to a good start at the new meeting and so is the trainer....in good form....1st on the synthetic but so far handled dirt and turf so I imagine the AW won't be a problem

race 5    average clarity

4  Cook Inlet   broke very poorly in MSW debut and then showed plenty of run in a very fast MSW heat.....training superbly on the Hollywood synthetic......bred to handle a route....appears all set off of a 4 month layoff

8  Foreboding   good route races last winter at GG.....training very sharply for this race and it is on the Hol surface....another fresh and seemingly ready

6  Great Rising Star   ran solid on the Hol synthetic in a sprint and then ran solid at a route on the lawn....so a route on the AW should fit.....also laid up like our top 2 picks but is training like he is ready as well

7  Dynamize   33 to 1 in MSW debut for a Puype expensive baby says gimme city.....should be full throttle today 1st at a route

race 6    average clarity

2  Toro Trippi   a real tiger when breaks cleanly at 5 1/2 furlongs...most of his poor compromising starts came from the 1 post so lets hope the 1 horse doesn't scratch-a-roo

3  Two Violins   extremely consistent sort seems to be at his very best at today's abbreviated sprint distance of 5 1/2 furlongs

1  Joyful Success   great to see nice guy and one of my favorite jocks back....Mr Tyler Baze....good speed rider fits this ES type....Baze and Miller have made for a good combo in the past

6  Five Star Fortune   just claimed by Sadler and one of the reasons he probably took this horse is his only race on an AW surface he won by 6 at GG

race 7    slightly above average clarity

1  Great Warrior   2 solid grass races under his belt and now we get a strong rider upgrade....good post...strong recent 7F work

4  Akkadian   improving effort (energy wise) with every  start but not behavior wise....acted act loading....in the gate....and out of the gate.....sharp recent drill...all set....can be a ton if settles down

2  Palo Prince   steps up off a turf sprint win....toss out lone route turf race because he dueled in the kind of pace that would do almost any grass runner in

3  Special Kid   in good form on the dirt......toss out lone grass race in that he had too much trouble to overcome....very good drills especially for someone like O'Neill who doesn't drill them hard very often

race 8    average clarity

10  Full Fashioned   not the best of trips in lone race run back in Feb and showed some run in her.......training sharper then she did before her lifetime debut....sure seems ready fresh

12  Bila Shaka   big effort 2 races back running a close 2nd with a bad trip...would have been top choice if I wasn't a little leery about the drop out of MSW to mc40/35K (took 2 lbs off)

8  Warren's City Art   solid forward move in last and good works since since hint today will be best ever

11 Dramatic Reward   late runner hoping for some solid early pace to aid her closing chances

9  Krasavitsa   like the breeding....like the work tab......come on T C Baze....hoping he gets off to a good start on his 1st day back
