Hollywood for Saturday 14 May 2011
[private]
We have more bombs in our selections then I can remember. Sure hope at least one of them can find their way into the win or place column.
A date to remember. So many of you have asked when I will give bonus selections at Arlington again. Well I am doing a race show once again for a fund raiser at AP on Friday June 17th. I will post my picks along with those for Hollywood that day. Last year I got quite lucky and had (I believe) 9 of 11 top pick winners. Check the archives for June of last year to see how I exactly fared.
Â
race 1Â Â Â average clarity
3 Dance With Gable  really appreciates the 6F sprints on the Hol turf....doesn't flatten out like he does at 6 1/2 at SA
1 Liberal Arts  races on the main track sure fit fig/effort wise...1st on the sod and bred OK for it...good early speed in this spot
7 Le' Heat  late runner is training as if ready for a top effort....will need more early pace than anticipated for best late kick
Â
race 2Â Â Â average clarity
2 Right On Renee  good mc debut andthe trainer is quite a bit better with 2nd timers
3 Youvegotthatright  proven early speed gets a significant rider switch for the better
5 Saunces Star  works out of town are awfully good....dangerous 1st timer
8 Warren's Ruhlara  last was somewhat of a clunker....debut 2 back was much better than it appears on paper
Â
race 3Â Â Â average clarity
5 Acclamation  a ton here if number 6 (who doesn't belong at this lofty level whatsoever) can't hang in there very long pressing or leading no. 5
2 Buenos Dias  loves the 1 1/2 distance when right......weak races last winter but training like he is going to rebound today
3 Haimish Hy bit short fig wise but 5 might get burnt worse than I anticipate and 2 might need the race
Â
race 4Â Â Â below average clarity
4 Black Sox  seems the best of a seemingly horrendous group
7 Warren's Sally   winter sprint efforts would make her the one to overcome here....hard check on the 1st turn in last hides a hint of a rebound
8 I've Been Flashed  work tab and her breeding combined with a weak field and this 1st timer seems like a threat
3 More Than Happy  another seemingly training well enough to be competitive in a very soft looking bunch
Â
race 5Â Â Â slightly above average clarity
6Â Sammy's A Runnin'Â Â a ton fig/effort wise on the AW since the addition of blinkers.....1st on the sod...bred fairly well for it
7 Uncle Greg   nice job by Cavara with this gelding since he claimed and soon after took off the blinkers....showed plenty of life in a needed turf sprint tune-up....should be fit and ready for best at a route today
9 Forward Commitment  very solid 1st ever turf race in last....owns some tactical speed and will need to use it here with a tough post Â
1 Lead Blocker  very dangerous trainer.....OK turf pedigree......good speed and post....but....will need to move forward
Â
race 6Â Â Â slightly below average clarity
1 Magic School   very strong drills from a trainer like Abrams who doesn't exactly push them too hard in the morningsÂ
8 Chockjerrymarry  debut race appears to be nothing more than a tune-up....wasn't ready in last at all so she was made a non-starter....can fire at a price
10 Warren's Creampuff  Gutierrez can strike out of nowhere and at big prices.....this filly is training like a runner...went off at odds of 36 to 1 in debut and then lost her irons and eased.....that lack of support at the windows should help today's price immensely  Â
5 Swiss Gem  showed lot's of life after a tardy start in layoff last.....and...had substantial early speed last Aug in her other start...dangerous with a good break
Â
race 7Â Â Â slightly below average clarity
4 Joker Face  bad trips in both lifetime races both on the sod.....solid recent drill....good post
2 Antidote  new trainer a good one in Sadler....sharp drills and proven 2 turn ability....flew late in lone grass run at Hawthrone
8 Lemou  very positive rider switch.....solid early speed....bred to appreciate the additional distance...so why not top pick?.....low low % trainerÂ
6 Purely Awesome   solid ability displayed sprinting on the AW....bred fine to handle the sod and the distance
Â
race 8Â Â Â slightly above average clarity
2 Legal Separation  has popped 3 straight solid figs since stopped hanging in the stretch....ultra consistent animal...the kind that is a gas to own...race lacks speed and he has some
4 Eye On Jacob  off 2 years but 1 for 1 (@Belmont) and 1st time for Baffert with works that say he is ready to roll fresh in his return to the race wars
5 Get My Fix  toss out 2 straight slop races...back to where he is proven....the synthetic...sharp drills
Â
race 9Â Â Â average clarity
5 Forty Dates  love her Hol record....love the distance for her...and big run in last her 1st race since late Feb.
7Â Hidden Romance.....veered badly in last losing ground then rushed...clean break and the same energy and she can be on or close to the lead at a big time price
6 Dubai Macau  small drop helps...owns decent speed versus these and after all this is only 5FÂ
1 Shawklit Sundae  proven fresh and fresh today with a positive rider switch...does well at 5 and 5 1/2 furlongs
9 Havens Lake and 10 Flashy Traveler (tie)  both horses fit versus these some but must overcome difficult posts at the 5F distance
