Hollywoood for Saturday 16 July 2011
[private]
Just a reminder we will not be covering the Fairplex meeting this year except for a few select days and even that is only a possibility. There was little interest last year and the break should do this aging brain of mine some good.
Â
We will be putting up a longshot in this spot on days that we have a price shot in a race where he did not qualify as one of our 2, 3, or 4 given selections.Â
Longshot not listed:Â NONE TODAY
race 1Â Â Â slightly above average clarity
2 Lilly's Perfect   repeat of last should handle these....blinkers on to help her focus in the stretch where she has let her lead slip away 2 straight races in a row
1 Roxy  sprint tune-up in latest......wire to wire attempt likely here.....trainer has been hot of late
4Â Princess Beau KÂ Â trainer and rider have been a red hot combo lately so this laid up 1st ever on the turf filly might be ready off a nice set of long drills
race 2Â Â Â slightly above average clarity
7 Centralinteligence   decent debut (on the sod) with OK drills.....works since that good turf tightener are much improved and they are on the Hol AW...forward move likely
4 Whipstock  very good preparation for this 4 year old 1st timer of R Mandella's.......rather sure this colt is ready at 1st asking
2 Frenzo  not the best of trips in debut yet still only beaten by 4+ lengths......new jock today and Flores sure has been riding well
5 Tuxedo Blues  impressive improvement both pace and final time wise for this horse who had been away for nearly 2 years
race 3Â Â Â average clarity
5 Afleet Deal  very big efforts/figs in last 2......smartly steps up off of the claim.....jock has last 4 wins for the gelding so the new trainer retains his services
1 Plasma Beam  exits a very fast heat for a 4K claimers at Stk.....steps way up but is training sharply and is capable of sitting off a heated pace which should be a big plus here
race 4Â Â Â average clarity
1 Woebegon  excellent MSW debut win and trains like we will see even more today
5Â Chloe WÂ Â still a maiden but 2nd place run wasn't bad....switch to Bejarano a positive as he and Kruljac have been getting the job done together this Hol meeting
2 Killer Gracies  done little wrong in 2 lifetime starts and continues to train like little has changed
race 5Â Â Â slightly above average clarity
8 Fit To Rule  O'Neill 1st timer is training as if he might be one of the better youngsters in his barn...great name if this is a good one
1 Creative Cause  sure is training well for his debut into the wonderful world of California thoroughbred racing.....plenty of foundation put in....should finish strong
6 Bling Cha Bling   solid debut and any move forward with a decent trip and it might be difficult for the first timers to beat him
2 A Toe By Three   same as above
race 6Â Â Â average clarity
5 Star Billing  great opportunity to chase the 3 horse and ponce in the stretch in what looks like a very slow paced affair
6 Bizzy Caroline  only ship in for this big race is hot right now and doesn't catch a very strong group of locals
4 Cambina   seems like the best animal in this race but sure looks compromised by what looks like a total lack of pace in the race....but for every three times it appears that way on paper it doesn't work out that way about one time....can fly on by if she gets more pace than anticipated
race 7Â Â Â average clarity
9 River Echo   giant race 2 back (bad trip and then some).......fell off some in last....rebound city today
6 Blame The Jockey   on the improve since claimed and the recent 5/8ths stellar work says the trend has a good shot to continue
1 Don Elias M.  get thru on the inside in last and will probably try similar in this spot.....good history at 5 1/2 furlongs
5 Charlie And Chris  good drills since the Bonde claim....seems set up for his mid pack style.....does have to overcome his tendency to hang in the stretch
race 8Â Â Â average clarity
3 Joshuas Bride  new listed trainer with no record but the recent work is reassuring and this filly ran a strong debut from a tough post at 6F on the sod
7 Hey I'm Sobia  tossed a clunker in last somewhat....debut before that was strong especially pace wise.....1st on the turf and bred OK for it....only mount of the day for P Val and it is a speed horse
5 Magic School   only lifetime turf race fits fine and back to the jock who rode
2 Clean Break  half sis to the stellar Unzip Me isn't exactly lighting it up in tne morning but it won't be the last time M Jones has a horse fire with soft drills
race 9Â Â Â slightly below average clarity
8 Tanda  seems best running at 6 1/2 - 7 furlongs......loves to stalk the leaders and should only have 1 or 2 somewhat suspect horses to overtake
4 Ultra Blend   should have been named Ultra Consistent especially at Hollywood where she is 4 out of 5 in the win column
9 Shotgun Gulch  only race on a synthetic surface was a Grade 1 win for this rather consistent sort who has proven she ships well.....brilliant works at LS in preparation for today
5 Irish Gypsy  keeps improving with age....1st or 2nd in last 6 races.....Baffert might really have her pointed for today's race because she hasn't faired too well at Del Mar and that meet starts next week
race 10Â Â Â average clarity
11 Storddim  last looks like a MSW tune-up off of the layoff to drop and be full throttle today running in the low rent district
7 Jack Of Plunder  plenty of foundation for this 1st timer with 3 straight 6F drills spaced a week or less apart......sure seems to be a sign he is fit to perform at 1st asking
9 Aeroman  should be up close from the get go with the new apprentice up who started hot and has cooled down a bit......6F looks like a good fitÂ
6 Leavin In A Limo  over 2 years off but Mullins has had a good meet and all 6 lifetime races fit fine in this spot if he returns the same animal
14 Expensive Pens  horse owns a touch of early speed and has a good speed rider aboard....might be dangerous and double digit odds
10 Warren's Tommy Too   late runner hoping for some hest up front
