Del Mar for Thursday 18 August 2011

Yesterday was very difficult with the tech troubles that occurred that we have little power over. A new day and a better one as today's card is decent. Not one race is rated any lower than "average clarity". Good luck as always.
race 1Â slightly above average clarity
1 Matto Mondo  fits the race condition as if they wrote the race for the horse....superior turf races and manageable speed
5 Golden Mexico  excellent return to the races in last and the drills since have been super....2 for 2 since Sadler took over......rather sure sitting on best ever
4 Muny  rather sure the 1 horse horse will let this one grab the lead and if that happens it will also enhance the chances of this M Mitchell trainee
race 2Â Â Â slightly above average clarity
8 Promiscuoussuances  might be a very good claim by O'neill in last.....the race was fast for the class and it was his 1st in 3+ months and he finished a solid 3rd.....that race with a good trip fits and a she will be a ton if she moves forward
3 Mama Janka  another exiting a fast heat with a solid 3rd....2 reassuring works since....expecting another strong run today especially for the level
2 Hollywood Affair  owns good speed in this spot in an affair which kind of lacks it.....P Val up and he sure woke up yesterday winning his 1st 3 mounts....inferior figs but still dangerous as potentially lone speed
4 Coastal Kathy  woke up some in last and then popped a bullet drill....rebound continues today even tough I doubt it will be large enough to win this affair without a good trip by her and bad trips by our top 3......under the category, "there are a lot of ways to win a race"
race 3Â Â Â average clarity
9 Sweet Pleasure  bet in debut and Rosario give her a bad trip breaking slow and running 4 wide....out to make major amends today
3 Silver Luna  almost always fires but sure likes to hang....P Val will have to stay after her relentlessly in late stretch
1 Portfolio  strong race route to 7F three races back.......and a much better jock is up then rode that day......same route to 7F sprint todayÂ
7 Jane Pickle  14 month hiatus from the track after only one career race but drops from MSW to the bottom and is training well enough that she might be ready fresh
race 4Â Â Â average clarity
1 Foolish Comment  takes a logical significant drop out of alw racing to condition claiming......this gelding showed he can handle the AW overseas in Ireland....Drysdale can handle a layoff
2 Duke Of Aspen  consistent sort including at today's distance where this gelding has hit the board in all 5 races
6 My Boy Luke  legged up on the turf and now back to the AW where this colt won his last run on the synthetic despite making a premature un-Rosario-like move
8 Lusterdust  LS  invader got claimed off of a so so effort but comes back in 19 days for Metz who is good 1st out after the claim...shot if the colt needed that start over the Dmr surface his 1st ever race on an AW surface
race 5Â Â Â average clarity
4 Ali's Lake   debut race sure seems to be part of the work regiment for this filly who I believe has been pointed to her 1st turf race which today....mom has tossed a couple a turf winners
6 Made To Love Her  solid sprint AW efforts/figs and now switches to a route of ground on the turf.....difficult call pedigree wise to predict if she will take a liking to the green stuff.....the one to beat if she does
2 Cascina  blocked badly in the stretch or would have been right there competing for the win....good grass pedigree
3 Smoke Train  MSW debut 2 back is better than appears in print......1st on the lawn but very well bred to like it
race 6Â Â Â average clarity
5 Mandated Bliss  has done little wrong in 4 lifetime races and now we get a positive rider switch to the hot riding Gomez....really like when Walsh uses Gomez too
1 Swiss Tart  loved the Dmr synthetic last year.......nice grass gimme in last....all set for top effort today
4 Gregor  likes ample time between races and gets it....this type of horse is quite reliable because the barn has to be patient but ready as it will be a long time till they get their next shot with the horse
3 First Strike  off 7 weeks but the horse hasn't missed a beat in the morning since his last race....Yakteem horses have been firing despite not owning a win this meeting
race 7Â Â Â average clarity
1 Bolinas  owns very big early speed on the turf and needs to only last 5 furlongs in a race lacking speed....I mention that because he had a powerful pace to content with in his last and it probably would have been too much to bring him back quick at a route
7 Arresting Officer  should be able to sit fairly close and attempt to ponce in the stretch
5 Nofty   mostly likely to get chase position or even lead if our top pick has a bad day....good thing in a 5F affair
8 Aliza's Dream  owns a strong back number on the grass sprinting......will need a great ride from a tough post but hey the jock got his 1st win at the meet (didn't everybody) yesterday and he may be a confident guy today
race 8Â Â Â slightly above average clarity
6 Detective Poirot  lone speed here looks tough if he gets if but he better because he sure hasn't preformed well without it
10 Coal Region Kid  strong efforts/figs 2 of the last 3 races which were routes....OK runner in sprints too and blinkers on....seems like good timing so that this gelding can sit closer in an affair without many front runners
7 Creston Cowboy  turned into a good runner since the blinkers were applied 3 races back.......definite in the hunt in this spot
1 Onebadboy  trainer is at his most dangerous 3rd out after a layoff like today
8 Mudroyale  works seem good enough for this 1ster timer to possibly be ready for his debut into wonderful world of thoroughbred racing
5 Quietly Waiting  need to see his race 3 back which fits fine here....not too many of his other runs do
