Del Mar for Friday 19 August 2011
[private]
Glad the grass course has been moved from beat up lane 1 to 7 feet out. It was getting rather goofy both to handicap and produce turf figs which I also do. Will be selling those figs sometime this Fall by the way.
No there isn't a missing 8th race. The plan is to only run 7 the rest of the meeting on Friday's.
Â
race 1Â Â Â Â average clarity
2 Roses For Joni  Abrams hardly ever fires with MSW 1st timers but he is solid with high priced 1st timers and the works suggest this one is ready
8 Wade County  owns experience of racing when none in here do.....decent run in debut with no support at the windows suggests she needed that race and more is likely today
5 Katie's Turn  Sadler also fires at a decent % with high priced 1st timers and those horses often drill somewhat uninpressively as not draw attention at the claiming box....that seems the case here
3 Fire Wise  almost all Yakteem horse's have been firing at the Dmr meeting (won at 8 to 1 yesterday) and this 1ster appears to be well prepared for his mc debut
race 2Â Â Â slightly below average clarity
3 Eltoninadress  1st time Troy Taylor is a very dangerous thing....kind of the M Mitchell of of the Northwest....this filly crushed her foes despite decent pace and getting bounced around some
8 Real Dream  done nothing wrong in 3 lifetime starts....blinks on and that is usually a good move for Dollase...might pop lifetime best
1 Outrageous Belle  just claimed by Walsh which she seldom does so she must really have liked this filly who broke her maiden at 1st asking.....good sign that Gomez accepts mount because they have a very good history teaming up together
6 Warren's Fancy  responded to the blinkers on in last with a win and an improved fig......can rate and there are a lot of speed types in here
race 3Â Â Â average clarity
2 Warren's Creampuff  caught wide and blocked some in the stretch or might have won this alw level in last and that would also have made her 2 for 2 in turf sprints.....solid reassuring work since
4 Cactus Flyer  speedball just worked a solid bullet 3F drill at SA....might be faster than ever......really tough here if she can clear especially the 7 horse who she dueled with in her last
1 Tribalicious  ran like a horse that needed her last....if so she fits just fine in this spot
8 Rebecca   both lifetime turf sprints are par like efforts for today's level....tough post but a positive rider switch to Gomez might be a fair trade off
race 4Â Â Â average clarity
1 Full Fashioned  exits a fast heat with a solid number/effort here....owns some speed versus these.....good shot to be on or near a very reasonable pace
6 Thou Shalt Not  horrid trip in last and maybe most importantly showed some quickness rushing some after a tardy start....quick 4F drill since......might get the front if breaks cleanly....either way I believe she will make a good account of herself here
3 Geniality  useful debut and the trainer is better the 2nd time around with a youngster
4 Jade And Diamonds  Terry Knight is not much with 1sters but this girl is training too well to ignore
race 5Â Â Â slightly above average clarity
7 Bauble Queen  I love horse's of Kruljac's that show a steady progression and that is the case here with this filly...not to mention a sizzling recent bullet drill at 4F
8 Dos Lunas   after running 2nd two straight races to two outstanding grass hosre's she then won...and 2nd in her winning race came back to win her next......a ton if fully fit after a long ship and 7 weeks off
2 Mizdirection  done little wrong in 3 lifetime grass races....can be in the hunt from the get go
5 Great Hot   ran fairly decent considering it was a layoff run......her 1st at a route....her 1st on the turf....and versus a much higher level then she had been facing....more today sure seems logical
race 6Â Â Â average clarity
6 Lease Of Life  all his route races on the AW fit well in this spot
2 Saravas Wild Again  solid rider/trainer team haven't missed the board in their last 1/2 dozen starts as a team.......Aguirre just claimed and you would think he can move this horse forard as hot as he has been
10 Whirling Thunder  significant drop and Mitchell has been heating things up once again....would have rated higher if it wasn't for a difficult post at 1 mile on the synthetic
3 Man Chester Man  just claimed by Miller and he is using P Val who is quite the jock upgrade over LS rider McNeil....and the gelding was making his 1st start on a synthetic track in last.....most need a run on it
race 7Â Â Â average clarity
6 Smart Ellis  just slip the tune-up debut race in this one's work-out lines and it sure looks like nothing more then part of the learning precess for this colt who is bred to appreciate the grass....love the long recent drills for a 2 year old
3 Unusual Heatwave  solid debut last and also is very well bred to handle a mile and the sod
9 Mental Giant  great grass pedigree for this 1ster and Mr Baffert is the conditioner
2 Guidopanzini  not much showing in debut last but very sharp workouts since and the drills prior to his debut were unimpressive
8 Dr. Evil  not much in debut but good turf pedigree....might have always been pointed for today's race....might end up being Dr. Evil to some of the pick 6 players
1 Big Bad Barry  needs to show more....does have decent potential to handle a route of ground on the green stuff and was pounded in his debut 2 races back....last a tune-up?
