FAIRPLEX DATES THAT THE RACING DIGEST WILL BE AVAILABLE
Opening day at Fairplex Friday, September 9th and Derby day at Fairplex, Saturday  September 24th will be available. Most likely there will be another card covered which I'll announce at a later date.Â
Â
Â
race 1Â Â Â average clarity
3 Winsome Charm   improving with every race and good 1 mile races on the lawn.....jock knows this horse well
6 Gothic Samuri   just raced 22 days ago but Drysdale works him twice at 6 furlongs.......seems like a really good sign this gelding is feeling quite good
7 Cayambe  caught a very stout group of 40K claimers in last and only lost by 2 lengths.....seemingly faces quite a bit less challenging foes here
4 Interpatation  woke up in last.....bullet 3F drill since.....a positive jock change......1 mile seems like a good fit these days for him
race 2Â Â Â slightly below average clarity
1 Memphis  both lifetime races fit rather well versus this semi-soft looking group......bit skeptical of this race as there isn't any speed in the race and it is difficult to predict where the horse's will be positioned in the early stages of the race
3 High Success  sure looks like the last was a tune-up.....solid back numbers......would have been top pick but she might be too far back in what sure looks like a pedestrian pace up front
5 Adriatic Moon  major move forward in last and claimed in the race........new trainer steps up double the price and Bejarano sticks with the horse.....2 wins and one 3rd in 3 races on the Dmr synthetic
race 3   average clarity
3 Bourbon Bay  stout marathon specialist is facing the easiest bunch he has see in quite some time
1 Make Music For Me  3 for 5 in the win column on the turf.....ran 4th at 1 1/4 in the Kentucky Derby in 2010 so I doubt the 1 3/8ths on the sod will be a problem
6 Imponente Purse   another like our top selection who appreciates the marathon distance affairs.....will need very best to beat our top pick unless of course our top pick has an off day
race 4Â Â Â average clarity
8 Gibson Home Run  great chance to clear in this spot and be in control of things with P Val guiding the way.....1st time gelding maybe a big plus at least for us maybe not for him
6 Offlee Wild Boys  sure like this gelding's races at 6F and he finally gets to run in one....small drop in claiming a plus and so is the fact Gomez sticks around to ride
7 Speed Bias  2 for 2 running "fresh".....only race he ran with the blinkers off on the main track is most impressive....fresh and no blinkers today.....quite dangerous even with seldom used Joe Steiner up
9 Deluxe Bus  late runner will need ample pace to be a major factor late versus these....think he has about a 1 in 3 chance to get it
race 5Â Â Â slightly above average clarity
4 The Factor  fresh and working stellar........seems loose here and can handle substantial pace so it sure looks like he is very formidable here
5 Smiling Tiger  proven world class sprinter will most likely find himself in the chase position and he will be closing in the stretch....would have been top pick if he wasn't only 1 for 5 at Dmr
6 Crown Of Thorns  impressive off the bench effort last year in this Grade 1 race .....training like all systems are go for a solid return run in this top level sprint race
race 6Â Â Â slightly above average clarity
3 Correspondent  one mile seemingly was a bit too short for this nice Proctor charge.......extra 1/16 and the switch to his top jock (Gomez) should make him tough in this spot
7 Flawless Jewel  best career race was run last Dec and it was without blinkers.....blinkers off today can move this filly forward and she is already running fairly well
4 Born Lucky  consistent sort needs just a little more punch in late stretch when it counts so much in grass racing.....maybe new jock can help
9 Sky Flying Eileen  very big run at 2 sprinting on the AW......1st route on the AW in layoff last and it was much better than it appears in print.....training well and bred well for 1st ever on the sod
race 7Â Â Â average clarity
12 Aeromon  last 2 races fit very solidly here at today's lower level and 1st time Gomez up to get the job done
10 Warren's Dr. Young  clunker in last but the race 2 back fits just fine versus these
5 Unusual Jazz  all three lifetime starts are par like endeavors for today's 16k nw2 level and the last is somewhat hidden by a bad trip-a-roo....3rd new conditioner in only his 4th lifetime start
1 Armenian Star  one win and two 2nd's the last 4 times this gelding has run for a tag.......and she drops a notch in claiming today and a decent 2nd place finish
race 8Â Â Â average clarity
2 Pleasure to Ride  Canani is awakening and he just claimed this 5 year old and he put 3 solid drills into him....he is very stout when he shows good works right after a claim
5 Dr. Smarty Jack  much needed layoff run in last is quite a bit better than it looks on paper....a logical move forward off of that effort puts him squarely in the hunt in this spot
3 Tamarack Smarty  deep deep closer has par for the level efforts in 6 of his last 7 on The Racing Digest's Top Turf Today ratings....1 mile seems to be his best distance....kind of rare for a deep closer on the turf
10 Ferneley  might be on a solid rebound and if he is he might be able to overcome his difficult post
race 9Â Â Â average clarity
10 Twirling Candy  yet to win at a 1 1/4 miles so Sadler astutely puts 2 strong aggressive back to back 1 mile works into him.....smart move and a very talented horse
9 Game On Dude  trained awfully well and this gelding has proven he can handle sitting close to a fairly hot pace and still last the 1 1/4 miles
6 Setsuko  another very nice animal who puts in big runs in top races but he sure doesn't understand how to win (15   1 6 3).....I have been shocked that R Mandella doesn't put him in a nw alw race to let him crush the field (maybe unless he hangs there too) and teach him what winning is all about
1 Don Cavallo  can run off or on the pace and this invader has some breezes at WO that would be impressive even if they were rated as "handling" efforts....very sharp and seemingly ready for prime time
race 10Â Â Â average clarity
3 Gilligan   one of these days Gilligan is going to toss a clunker but I don't think it it today
8 Sir Bell  improving sort logically steps up.......trainer is quietly having a very good meet and in fact is having a very good year
1 Royal Import  re-claim by Hess and this gelding runs for him as if he has the trump card for this horse
12 Joe Carl  such a hard trying competitor when he is right and he looks as if he is back in good form
race 11Â Â Â slightly above average clarity
9 Duda Ten  powerful move forward in last that is somewhat hidden....same effort/energy with a smoother trip and she will be very stout here
1 Make Mine Remy  close second in a very fast heat for mdn 20k.....would have been top pick but she isn't a very good gate horse and that doesn't mix so well with the 1 post at 6 1/2 furlongsÂ
12 Candys Girl  good awakening in last.....any move forward and she is as likely as any to visit the winners circle
10 Mum's Joke   lousy trip in last or right there at the wire....hot riding Talamo will be out to make amends
3Â Pat's Dream
6Â Warren's Hopeful
