Santa Anita for Friday 7 October 2011

Average card today. Some nice races this extended weekend. We do race on Monday. Best of luck to everyone!
race 1Â Â Â average clarity
5 Dish The Dirt  needs ample time between starts and Eurton shows patience and gives it to her......very strong efforts when Rosario has been the rider.....1st ever on the "dirt" is a ? mark
7 Small But Mighty  2 for 3 since M Mitchell claimed......decent chance to get a nice chase or mid pack position
11 Appealing Resume  good move forward in latest which was her 2nd out after the layoff....trainer is very dangerous 3rd out after a break so another move forward is somewhat likely
3 No Flies On Doodle quickly declining animal looks loose in this spot.....rider/trainer won yesterday as our 4 to 1 top selection in the 5th
race 2Â Â Â Â average clarity
5 Two Violins  hard to argue with 16 of 20 1st or 2nd place finishes on conventional dirt....2 for 2 on the new SA main track......sure likes today's distance
8 Charlie And Chris  sharp effort 1st after the claim by Mullins and that was at 6 1/2F which hasn't been the best distance for this gelding.....5 1/2 is a much better fit
2 Rummysecret War  exits a fast heat of 12,500 claimers at Fpx with a good 2nd.......prior conventional dirt race was way back in Jan and it was a win for 20,000 claiming in his only race on the new "dirt" track at SA
1 Clue Me In  1st run for Hollendorfer after the claim.....horse is out of jail yet Dorfer steps up....a good sign.....so is the solid recent bullet drill at Hol
race 3Â Â Â average clarity
7 Thisoneforyou  competitive in all 6 lifetime starts no matter what the distance or surface so I highly doubt this versatile runner will have any trouble with the SA hill turf course
6 La Sombre  has shown plenty of ability in all four lifetime starts including a turf sprint.......solid work tab suggests we will more of the same today
8 Cayanna  and yet another consistent sort.....jock change back to Bejarano who is very familiar with this filly
1 Bodie girl  career sure took a turn for the better since switching to the turf.......not the easiest of posts down the hill but a hot jock aboard to get the job accomplished
race 4Â Â Â average clarity
5 Big Hands Al   Palma is off to a hot start at SA......horse is on the improve......good work since last hints the trend stays intact
3 Traweek  colt is running much better than appears in print.....bad trips in all 3 starts since going on Lasix
8 Charlie Company  work tab for this 1ster is up to snuff and the trainer has a better than average history with maiden claimer 1st timers
11 D'wildbunch  woke up some in 2nd lifetime start.......has worked what appears to be his best drill ever since that improved effort.....needs and and has a decent shot at another forward move
race 5Â Â Â slightly below average clarity
4 Miss Zooter  little 5 furlong race 1st in the U S of A sure looks like part of the training regiment.....if so lookout because she should be fit, ready, and meant today
5 Sleep Tight  always in the hunt in races run on the grass that are sprints including one race on the SA hill
6 Ninth Infantry  has shown ability on the grass and I always thought this filly would be better suited for a turf sprint......2 consecutive sharp 4F drills appears to have this runner in peak condition
3 Elvies Lane   handled 1st ever on the lawn (route race) decently....now turns back to a sprint where both lifetime wins (on the AW) occurred
race 6Â Â Â Â average clarity
8 Hoorayforhollywood  both lifetime races are very strong and better than appear in print.....training like a Stakes caliber individual......all systems go fresh off of the bench
4 Riveting Reason  run well versus significantly better.....very formidable here if ready off of the long hiatus from the track
5 Senator Bob  training well in the a.m........cut back of 1/16 mile looks like a good thing for this gelding who tends to flatten out after 1 mile in his race races
2 Jakesam  hasn't missed a beat in the morning for the last 10 weeks....wound up and ready....conventional dirt is a question mark
race 7Â Â Â average clarity
3 Anniversary Girl  not much more to point out then 2 wins and 2 2nds in 4 efforts on firm turf with the blinkers on
6 Wallstreeter  adjusted for trouble grass figures are extremely consistent and fit solidly at today's FNW's level.....bullet 5/8ths drill and it was just 5 days ago......sharp
10 Glowing Spirit  continues to train as if we haven't seen the best of this import from BRZ.....will need a clever ride from at difficult post
8 Chokecherymary  on the right end of the learning curve......will need the trend to continue
race 8Â Â Â slightly above average clarity
5 Miss Becca  both lifetime starts fit well in this spot.......trainer and rider have been on a roll as a team the last couple of months
4 Leggylangleylassie  mom has tossed 6 winners from 7 starters.....1ster sure started training sharply when she switched over to SA
6 Jade's Song  last 2 races are better then par for today's level but both were on AW surfaces........conventional dirt is still a question mark
10 Smokey Lake  works seem up to snuff to possible be ready to roll in maiden debut
11 Single In May  flashed a quick 1/4 mile in running 2nd in lifetime debut effort run at Fpx......blinkers on.....might fly early and clear.....that makes her dangerous
8 Wheaty's Well  debut 2 races back was a decent 2nd in a fast heat at Fpx.....bad trip in next......can compete with a decent trip by Alicea
