Hollywood for Friday 16 December 2011
Good looking card for today and at first glance Saturday's card also looks quite good. Ten races carded on both Saturday and Sunday to close out the Hollywood fall meet.

race 1Â Â Â average clarity
6 Si Mar's Dear  ran away from jock in last to cut out one nasty 2nd quarter in a two turn race....cut back in distance and a new jock sure look a good thing
4 Ancient Artifact  exits a fast heat with a nice 2nd and now drops a notch.......won the last time this filly ran 3rd out after a layoff like today
3 Magicallytown  improving sort will need the trend to continue
race 2Â Â Â slightly above average clarity
6 Qatar's Pearl  exits a fast heat where if he wasn't boxed in for an extended period of time he had a good shot at winning.....strong fig on Top Turf Today
2 Candy's Jewel  another with a powerful adjusted for trouble fig (1st ever running long) albeit on the AW....should handle grass....good turf pedigree
4 Late Night Sky  on the improve with every start.....two very sharp drills for this race and a jockey upgrade
7 Our Boy Benjamin red hot rider/trainer combo....big awakening for colt in last....will need another forward move to handle top 3 picks
race 3Â Â Â average clarity
3 Geniality  sure liked a route of ground in last which his pedigree suggested he would...better post and a small field should help out this filly who tends to run wide
1 Warren's Hopeful  good chance to sit on or near the front end in a race lacking speed.....reassuring recent bullet work since she ran lifetime best in latest
2 Warren's My Queen  fired best ever 2 races back albeit on the sod.......seems to handle the Hollywood AW fairly well.......will need more pace up front than anticipated to fire her best
race 4Â Â Â average clarity
7 Inquisitive Son  good rebound in latest......1st ever on the grass but well bred to handle it.....sure like the fact Rosario sticks with the horse
3 Tio Vic  rider/trainer have won their last 6 of 11 and only missed the board once over the last 2 months.......consistent sort's 1st on the lawn but the breeding if fairly good to handle it
4 Lockheart  1 for 1 lifetime for this laid up individual who is working well for her return to the race wars.......this time long and long on the turf.........bred fine to handle both.....M Garcia is riding at over a 30% clip....move over Rosario and Bejarano (21% & 22%)
race 5Â Â Â average clarity
8 Rude Bobby  very bad trip 2 back in debut hides a decent dirt sprint run.......bolted on the turf in next......bred to appreciate the AW.....trainer is sending out almost everything ready and he sure is good 1st time blinkers
4 Corner Office  showed some life in MSW debut last with a Sadler work regiment that suggested he needed the race.....sure has been training much better since....rather likely to see a good move forward today
12 Spirit Rules  broke tardy and ran wide in debut......big effort to only lose by a nose.......would have been top choice if it wasn't for the outer-most 12 post draw....not exactly a good starting point for a young horse that broke slowly and circled horses in lifetime debut
9 Indicator  training radically better since he ran up the track in lifetime debut....expensive Cal bred is bred to be a good one
race 6Â Â Â slightly above average clarity
4 Glorified  hasn't earned her keep since coming over from Ireland so why not drop this filly into a much softer spot
3 Cosset  another dropping into a claimer for the 1st time for her new connections........I doubt this is a tune-up or the barn would have protected the horse in a non-claiming event
7 Charm The Crowd  all her career route races turf or dirt fit at today's level.....cut back of 1/16 seems like a good thing....tends to flatten some past 1M
1 Phi Delta Heat  lone win was only route grass race ever and it was the only time today's jock (Nakatani) ever rode this filly
race 7Â Â Â average clarity
7 Screaming Regal  seemingly does her best running fresh and she is fresh today........and she has 2 wins and 2 2nd's when Mr. Bejarano has been aboard
1 There Is Limit  last 3 of 4 turf to dirt races were wins....turf to dirt today
2 Teroda  lone win came the only time this filly attempted 6 1/2 furlongs........laid up since early March but has hit the track every 5 or 6 days since Nov 2....seems wound up and ready to roll with the solid interval training
4 Blue Tambourine  steadily improving animal........just fired best ever on the lawn in last and I believe she is slightly better on the AW.....so......logic says best ever on the AW might occur....bit concerned by a sketchy work pattern since her last
race 8Â Â Â average clarity
6 Clear To Canada  3 wide trip in last and still finished up well.....and now we go from a cold jock in Vergara to a red hot one in Garcia
8 Skippy Due  ultra consistent sort also gets a significant rider upgrade
10 Devils Afleet  earned a decent adjusted for trouble fig with a 3 wide trip in last......short rest for today's race but it comes off of a less stressful 5F affair.......9 for 19 win or place on the AW
3 Coal Region Kid  hard to argue with 1st or 2nd 6 of the last 7 races
5 High Success   down down down the claiming ladder he goes.....blinkers off and a jock upgrade to shake things up and try to wake up
7 Blame The Jockey   dueled in nasty pace in last....not sure where the new found high early speed came from.....might be loose on the lead today with a good speed rider up
