Santa Anita for Sunday 8 January 2012
Decent looking card to finish the week. Sure like what I've seen so far at the SA Winter/Spring meet. I have high hopes for a stellar meet. We shall see.

race 1Â Â Â average clarity
6 Kid's Table  only race on the SA main track sure stands out and so do the works on the SA surface preparing for this race
2 Lady Lohr  trainer has won his last 3 of 4 taking the blinkers off.......seems like the best early speed in this spot and speed did well yesterday
5 My Brite Caroline  consistent late runner was just claimed.....needs the 1, 2, and 6 to press the issue up from to have a shot
race 2Â Â Â above average clarity
4 Edeen's Moon  tremendous MSW debut for a 2 year old filly not to have won......solid works since......heavy fave should be tough going a mile with a pedigree that should appreciate 2 turn racing
5 Conjure The Spirit  solid route race in last.......Barba has been sending his stock fit and ready of late
6 Music Thunder  both races on the SA main course are par like efforts for today's level.....bit of a dichotomy in that the horse is well bred to appreciate a route of ground but the trainer is only1 of his last 41 1st time at a route
7 Cavalleta  moved forward in last 1st ever going long and 2nd out after the layoff....will need improvement to continue to be in the hunt here
race 3   average clarity  (hard to split my 4 selections)
2 Warren's Flyer  most of her career on main track surfaces fit here....blocked in last at twice the claiming price or might have won
4 Judicious  obvious bad claim by Chambers but.....he has won 4 of his last 7 dropping off of claim
8 Si Mar's Dear  good history on "fast" conventional dirt....and it never rains in California
7 For You My Heart  very solid real dirt history and 3 for 6 at today's distance of 6F
race 4Â Â Â average clarity
6 Glowing Spirit  best ever (and a solid fig on Top Turf today) was her race 4 races back.....and it was with 9 days of rest.....9 days of rest today too....bred to run all day
8 Rosehill Dew  another with best ever on the SA turf......has been catching tough fields......also bred to appreciate the 1 1 /4 miles.....jock needs to get out of his funk with a win
1 Bellini Bliss  best effort in the U S of A was her longest race to date..... a 1 1/8 mile run and the effort is hidden by a bad trip.....so it hints that she might like today's 1 1/4
7 Jeopardy Lady  mare keeps getting claimed and has been able to compete well stepping up in class......just claimed by Hollendorfer and he will need to keep the trend intact
race 5Â Â Â average clarity
8 Red Door Drive  has been facing much better and competing well with 4 straight 2nd's....1st class connections like wins.....so drop city to get it
3 Sea Rascal  loves conventional dirt and has a very good history in sprints run from 6 1/2 to 7 furlongs
2 Macho Dorado  1st ever on the "dirt" but trains well on it in the a.m........trainer is stellar with layoffs of 6 to 12 weeks......7 weeks off here
6 Donato  solid forward move in last albeit on the sod.......training exceptionally well on the SA main track and is well proven on it....seems poised for another forward move
race 6Â Â Â average clarity
4 Vionnet  bombed in last but ran "large" in MSW debut and it is somewhat hidden with a very bad trip...broke very badly and then rushed...still only beat by 4......big work tab and good grass pedigree say we will rebound to the effort/energy displayed in her MSW debut....now we just need the trip-a-roo
6 Perfecta  very aggressive work tab for someone like Mandella......rather sure ready to roll......might roll into 2nd to give us the perfecta
8 Wish To Opine  decent MSW debut last April at Kee......training up to snuff for her new trainer Baffert and owns a decent turf pedigree
11 Spring Blossom  solid awakening with the switch to the sod in last.....Sherriff runners usually move forward race after race thru at least their 1st 4 starts so there should be an upside for this girl today
race 7Â Â Â below average clarity
1 Erbeia  has faced quite a bit better in about 1/2 his races......and usually fires best fresh....fresh today and late runner seemingly gets ample pace up front
2 Reach A Decision  lead type only should be legged up nicely off his last where he set a nasty pace on the turf.....he will try to get the jump on the 7 and wire the field.....how's speed doing so far today?
7 Welcome Home Ryan  claimed and giving a break from the afternoon races.......great drills for his new conditioner over the last 8 weeks....he might have the trump card for the colt
6 Industry Leader  only race at a route was way better than appears in print....and it was run sprint-sprint-route......same scenario today
race 8Â Â Â above average clarity
4 Caracortado   6 1/2 turf furlongs sure looks like a good fit......mid pack runner seemingly gets plenty of heat up front to flatter his late kick
2 Mr Gruff  loves the SA hill owning 5 wins and 1 2nd in 6 starts....should fire once again and be very tough from gate to wire
6 Regally Blonde  kind of ironic our B C top pick is our 3rd choice here....also always seems to fire and most likely will here.......needs to avoid a duel with Mr Gruff
3 Victory Pete  better than looks on paper....believe Garcia needs to take back here to have a shot
race 9Â Â Â above average clarity
2 Saturday Nite Wish   best work tab for a Blincoe 1st timer I can ever remember.......shows significant speed in the a.m.....only has 5 1/2 furlongs to deal with
9 Twelve Folds  both lifetime races are par like efforts....and.....continues to train like a happy healthy filly
12 Allswellonceagain  solid drills for this Headley 1st starter......will need a good sharp ride from a difficult post at 5 1/2 F
4 Ya Wanna Hug  blocked in the stretch or would have won.......must feel good for Mandella to put back into MSW racing
6 Raggin Wood  bombed in last....debut race 2 back was decent  SCRATCHED
7 Briteness   works seem good enough to possibly be dangerous in her debut into the wonderful world of California thoroughbred racing
