Santa Anita for Sunday 11 March 2012
[private]
Fairly decent card today. Be back with you on Thursday.
race 1 below average clarity
2 Me Salty trainer's having a solid SA meeting....strong race in last for this gelding and plenty of time off to recovery and possibly fire another good effort
5 Thunder Of Zion dangerous speed horse gets a jock upgrade.....toss out last ....mega speed on a dull rail so rightfully cashed it in.....wire to wire shot here
6 Cut Fastball seems most competitive in conventional dirt sprint races like today......closer should receive ample pace up front to flatter his late run
race 2 average clarity
1 St. Joel 8 year old maiden has improved with every start since returning from a long layoff.......works seem quite a bit better and we get a positive rider change
7 Sidepocket Kid sure seems by far the most likely horse to hit the board in this weak looking field but he sure looks like a hanger....still if you are ever going to run on by the last horse it would be versus a bad looking bunch
5 Husky Glory improved in last 1st time long and 1st time blinkers.......last race should have put some endurance into him so he has a shot at even more today 2nd time at a route
3 Broken Glass sprinter owns the best early speed in the race and he might use that speed to try to wire the field in his 1st ever at a route of ground
race 3 average clarity
6 Glamorista Baffert charge sure seems wound up and ready for her return to the race wars and she should appreciate catching a seemingly soft looking group
3 Zenidekka multiple races on the AW fit well in this spot.....needs to prove self on the "dirt".......love the bullet drill at Hol just 3 days ago
4 All On The Table appropriately named individual who seems to put herself in the hunt in every race she runs
race 4 average clarity
3 Conjure The Spirit blinkers on for today and the a.m. works sure hint this filly likes the equipment change......appears to want to run all day so the added distance appears to be a good fit
1 Dixie In Pink decent forward move in 2nd lifetime race her 1st on the sod....another who appears will appreciate the added distance.....good sign Bejarano sticks around
7 Askra looks to me that Rosario will attempt to snatch the lead here, slow things down and attempt to control the race on the front end
2 Sabouli both grass races are quite a bit better than appear in print....not out of this if fit and ready off of a 2 month break in the action
race 5 average clarity
5 Elusive Schemes great chance to chase a suspect leader in the 1 horse.......last two of three races are way better than appear on paper........like the switch to the apprentice with his weight off advantage
3 Man Chester Man bit wide and blocked in last or might have won......one horse trainer has a shot at the winners circle here
1 Capture The Call seemed like a great spot in last and yet he had little support at the windows....and he ran a poor effort as the lack of betting hinted.....looks loose here but he will need a rebound
8 Raingear up the track in last two endeavors but his race 3 back is quite good.....recent solid 5F drill hints we might see a rebound to it
race 6 average clarity
8 Southern Sunrise impressive MSW debut.....broke a little tardy and then rushed into fast pace....did awfully well to run 2nd.....a ton here if that hard effort didn't take its toll
3 Ranchero both races back in 2011 at SA fit well here and.....hot drills for Baffert....what's new?
7 Roman Threat hot drills for a Baffert 1st timer.....whats new?
6 Randazzo clunker in last....race 2 back was impressive running wide close to the pace.....blinkers on today......and assuming this colt worked with them on....then the recent 58:3 5F work suggests rebound city today
race 7 average clarity
3 Times Gone By back to 25K where Canani claimed this gelding at.......he means business today....horse has been facing quite a bit better
7 Jairzihno good move in the right direction 2nd after the claim.....5 year old should appreciate the extra 1/8th of a mile today
4 Double Shuffle very consistent sort should also welcome the extra furlong
1 They Call Him El major wake up in last.....gelding will need to avoid flattening out at 1 1/8th on the turf....would have been 2nd choice if this race was carded at a mile like his last
Possible long-shot: 10 Lumberyard Jack careful here.....hot O'Neill wheels this horse back in 8 days off a gimme dirt sprint....work tab prior to last was stout.....so.....today might be where he always pointed this horse.....last grass race at Haw wasn't bad
race 8 average clarity
2 Izzy Rules the "now" horse on the grounds has a great shot at wiring the field once again....Bonde is terrific with sprints in big race affairs
1 She's Cheeky broke poorly and ran wide or could have won layoff last......same effort with a cleaner trip and she has a shot at the circle of joy here
6 Spectacular Sky crushed her competition in her last in a fnw affair.......only needs a small forward move to be formidable this afternoon and has the right trainer to make that happen
race 9 above average clarity
1 Scream Queen big move forward in last on the grass.....legs should feel good.....runs just fine on conventional dirt....Giker horse's have been ready
6 Song Girl definitely on the right end of the learning curve...well proven with ample time between races like today.....top jock sticks around
5 After Later last was decent and now double digit weight off......should be prominent from the get go
8 Blue Samurai turf races sure fit but this is a dirt race....will have to like the SA dirt more than the Crc dirt or doubt will show too much
9 One Bad Texter laid up filly is training as if she can be a factor fresh off the bench
4 Hey I'm Sobaa on the improve and will need the trend to continue to handle this step up in class
