Santa Anita for Thursday 22 March 2012

Card seems rather decent and so does tomorrow's. Meets leading rider Joel Rosario has mounts in races 3 thru 8 and they all appear to be contenders. Best of luck as always!

race 1    above average clarity

3  Si Mar's Dear   solid recent 4F drill on the SA training track......appears to be loose in this spot and with lowest assigned weight in the race

6  Memo To Kathy   fell off in latest....bit flat at 1 1/16.....back to 1 mile today....the distance where this filly ran a solid effort 2 races back

4  Pure Storm   ultra consistent sort till her last where she tossed a major clunker and was claimed.......will need a significant rebound today for her new conditioner who has given her 7 weeks off to recovery from whatever set her back in her last

race 2   average clarity

8  Lady Vivien    very strong MSW debut last September at Emd.....yet to match that race but improved in last and it was hidden by a poor trip....solid 5F drill since and back in relatively short rest......rather sure moves forward today

5  Propero   Mitchell 1st timer is training as if ready to roll in her has tossed 4 winners in 4 starters......quick 3 furlong gate work on 9 March hints at this filly having some early speed

6  Vaadka Logic   bombed on the grass back in Dec in lone career have gotten progressively better in preparation for her 2nd lifetime start.....might be peaking at the right time

3  Ramona's Ride   Ted West filly takes the ever dangerous drop out of MSW racing into maiden claiming

race 3    average clarity

2  D'princess   races on the main track are quite a bit better than appear in print.....blinkers off to most likely curb her early speed.....1st at a route and 1st on the grass but bred fine to handle both

4  Selleria   showed some life in maiden debut which was on the grass beating 1/2 of a 12 horse filly maiden special weight affair.....not much on the main track in next.....just worked a significant bullet 5/8ths in 58:3....and now she gets a jockey upgrade....seems to be sitting on better race today

8  Trois Aureole   solid turf sprint 1st ever in the Sadler barn........back quick for her 1st ever at a route........bred just fine to be able to handle the transition

7  Royale Legacy   pedigree suggests this filly should be more suitable running a distance of ground.....with that in mind her 5 1/2 beaten lengths grass sprint MSW debut appears to be tightener for today.......and she has the backing of a red hot trainer/rider team

race 4    below average clarity

2  Potesta   Rosario and Mitchell as a team for over a year now win with every 2 out of 5 you have to like this 1st starter's chances considering she has a work regiment that implies she is a runner

1  Miss Malibu   Drysdale doesn't win with MSW 1st timers like he used to but this filly is training too well to be has had only one other foal and that foal was a fantastic runner

7  Out For Revenge   some very flashy drills for this 1st timer.......well bred as well.......and Guillot seems to be awakening

4  Toto Cor   you guessed it......another first timer......good drills for this Jones 1st timer and he tends not too push his horse's in the this might be a good one

race 5    above average clarity

4  Muny   horrendous trip in last quite wide close to strong pace........that always does a horse in..... even a good one.....drops to lowest level ever....handles the SA hill turf course just fine

1  Crossing The Line   one powerful turf horse at the 25K level .......seems nobody is willing to claim a 10 year old....I wouldn't.....I see few reasons he won't coming flying late once again

7  Kelly Leak   better down the SA hill than his record would indicate......just worked a vastly improved work....Hess is good 2nd out after a's scenario

9  Lamm   decent history on the hill and seems to fire fresh....he is fresh today

race 6    above average clarity

6  Centralinteligence    toss out last....had to check and take up severely so eased.......other 3 lifetime sprints are very strong....continues to work like a happy healthy horse....should sit close to front in a race lacking speed

4  C J Russel   laid up Baffert runner is training sharply and owns dangerous early speed in a race that lacks it........might be very keen off the 1/2 year hiatus from the track

1  Classic Legacy   another Baffert laid up horse seemingly ready to roll.....might sit in a nice stalk or mid pack position if 4 and 6 end up in a duel

2  Sahara Sky   consistent closer has been aided by some nasty paces in his  last two races........doubt that occurs today but lookout if it does

race 7    above average clarity

3  Indian Winter   finally rebounded in last after being in the doldrums for quite some time.......impressive work tab since......more or better today if he handles his 1st ever on the grass.....sure love his pedigree for it

5  Irish Art   better than par in his last 4 grass races considering today's level of racing....that is impressive

6  Obviously   beat 16 horses last July in Ireland at 6 t0 1....then beat 13 horses in Ireland at 8 to 1......laid up since and shows up in the States with Mitchell.....impressive work tab.....sure seems ready and formidable

1  Smokey Lonesome   good drills and first time up for a tag for this laid up guess is he is ready to roll because he might get snatched at the claiming box.......I believe Sherman would have used a non-claiming race for him if this was a tune-up

race 8    average clarity

8  Samurai Jess   this 1st starter has a solid work tab for a red hot trainer and this group isn't the strongest....rider is having a dull meet but not when he rides for Mr. O'Neill

1  Fly Solo   ice cold trainer could use a winner....drops from the MSW level to the bottom 3 year old maiden claiming level to get it

6  Warren's Hope    first timer has a nice foundation put into him to be ready for his m c debut

14  Zenette   2 of 3 lifetimes races are decent for today's level....will need one clever ride from Nakatani sitting on the outer-most post in a 5F race

7  Sweet Juju   Pender 1ster is training well enough to possible be ready to compete in his debut into the wonderful world of thoroughbred racing

10  Love Ya Bye Bye   good news for this seem rather decent.....bad news.....Hector Palma has a dismal history with 1st time starts
