Hollywood for Friday 8 June 2012

[private]

The start of an exciting weekend to say the least.

Saturday's publication will be available no later than 6 am Pacific time and it will include the Belmont Stakes.

race 1    average clarity

4  First Blue Angel   5 wide in latest and still managed to close fairly well to snatch 3rd..........back in shorter rest and the 2 times this horse got to run back in short rest he moved forward......7 1/2 looks like a good fit and it might not be for many in this field

1  My Main Man   was training well prior to mc debut last......he ran so so......continues to train like he can run some

6  Jeffery's Pride   seldom used distance of 7 1/2 furlongs looks like a decent fit.........improved in latest and works are improved since........shot with a small forward move

3  Mary's App   owns a small touch of early speed.......has broken well his last 2 starts....and gets a good gate jockey in Alicea.......shot to be on or near a lackluster pace

race 2    slightly below average clarity

5  Dynamic Host   only win on the turf in 11 starts was at today's 1 3/8ths distance....and this gelding is a better runner on main track surfaces.......race two back was a solid effort/fig

3  Richard's Kid   back home after a major bust in Dubai.........last race run in the good old U S of A was run at Hollywood and it was a career best

4  Honour The Deputy   trainer has woken up in a big way.......blinkers on and the works are very solid........proven marathon ability

race 3    average clarity

2  Inuit Fisher   too flat going 2 turns on the turf in last....back to a turf sprint where he belongs.....also seems to be good back in short rest.......11 days sure qualifies as short rest

7  Seattle Ruler   been away from the race wars for 1 1/2 years but sure is training like a happy healthy individual.....only race at 6F on the grass was a weak trip 5th beaten only by 4 lengths and the winner was.......Amazombie.......yikes

1  Star Nicholas   last race back in short rest like today was decent.........late runner seemingly gets what he needs.......plenty of front running types

4  Classic Bobby   first time as a gelding today and many a horse improves in S Cal 1st time out after the knife......ouch........1st on the lawn but bred to handle it......sharp works......rather hot trainer

race 4    slightly below average clarity

3  Cupid's Bling   maiden debut:  broke slowly and ran wide on a good inside day.......not good........work tab since is solid.......good shot with a smoother journey

2  Balentina   maiden debut:  decent effort/fig and showed a touch of early foot.....good speed jock up.....should be on or close from the get go in this field that lacks front running types

7  Conkate   toss out turf effort in last.....race 2 back fits OK.....race 3 back is quite strong considering today's competition

5  Pumpkin Pie   bad trip in last and still came flying.....claimed by Miller and he must like what he sees because he steps this runner up a couple on claiming levels

Long-shot Possibilities:   4  Tiz Final   monstrous awakening at 52 to 1 two races back (1st time with blinkers)........bumped at the start in latest and eased but comes back to run in 12 days suggesting the filly is fine.....fits with a rebound

race 5    slightly above average clarity

2  Marinda   both lifetime races fit well here fig wise........would have won last if he wasn't in tight on the turn causing him to bore out a couple of lengths.....1st long and first on the grass but bred very well to handle both....can be in the hunt from the get go

6  Jolly Days   done little wrong in 3 lifetime races all at different distances and different racing surfaces......athletic late running type should come flying with a good turf jockey with closer in G Gomez

3  Ghost Of A Chance   believe this very well bred turf horse was always pointed to today's race so the handicapping scenario is:  dirt gimme.....AW gimme......strong works......go go go today 1st on the grass

7  More Chocolate   solid MSW on the turf sprinting.....impressive close into a semi-soft fractions.....bred to appreciate a route of ground

race 6    slightly above average clarity

6  Hey I'm Sobaa   good history on the AW......2 for 3 at today's distance.....and one sharp GG trainer in Miyadi ships in........owns very good early speed especially on AW surfaces....and good speed rider up

1  After Later   2 for 2 at the distance and both wins were by margins greater than 5 lengths......nice turf tightener in last

3  Miss Peanut   laid up mare is training as if she is fully ready to roll fresh off of the bench....races on the AW last Spring/Summer are quite a bit better than appear in print.....many with tough trips

5  Mama Janka   flattens at 6F......5 1/2 furlongs seems like a better fit......tune-up in a non-claiming race in last..... likely pointed for today

race 7    slightly below average clarity

4  Don Tito   last looks like an abbreviated sprint tune-up......works since are vastly improved.....full throttle today 1st ever up for a tag

6  He's A Dance Star   likes ample time between starts and gets it.....good sign the horse is doing well to step up 50% in claiming price especially when it might be quite awhile before he races again

3  Royal F J    lone speed is a good thing of course but lone closer like this fellow is is often a good thing as well.....should come flying late.....does have a tendency to hang

race 8    slightly above average clarity

7  Axle   not the best of trips versus better in maiden debut last........Walsh likes to win races.......seeks 1st win at the meeting and drops to get it

5  Sweet Elation   broke poorly and then rushed up showing that he is capable of significant pace with a better beginning.....sure looks loose here if he breaks cleanly this time around

6  Lookn Mighty Tuff   GG invader trained by a stout N Cal conditioner is turf distance fit......that should give him an endurance edge trying to get the extended one turn distance of 7 1/2 furlongs

1  Franconi   owns 3 back numbers that fit here run in the winter of 2010/2011.....last sure looks like a much needed tune-up.....might be up to the challenge today with that effort under his belt

2  Sidepocket Kid   tends to flatten two turns long.....might not one turn.....kind of interesting shake up might be a wake up

9  Patriotic Lion    piece of the pie only....most likely too flat at 7 1/2 furlongs to win
