Hollywood for Sunday 10 June 2012

[private]

What a busy week of handicapping. Be back with you fresh and ready Thursday. Good luck today with a race card a little better than average despite an extremely difficult 6th race..

race 1    slightly below average clarity

3  A Natural   barn appears to have gotten a little too high on this filly in last running versus better after a nice layoff 2nd.....back to reality.......only route race running a route of ground at Hol was quite a bit better than appears in print

5  Derby Memo    only true closer in this weak bunch.......that's a good thing.......trainer/rider both are win-less in 2012.......that's a bad thing......but her last race is solid under their tutelage and she has a nice reassuring 5F work since her last

4  Shesky   consistent horse is easily the most likely to fire here but she has been the epitome of a hanger...only career win is on the lead.....hmmm

race 2    average clarity

4  D'princess   speed of the speed has to put away 2 other burn-balls but that is what she accomplished in her successful last race.....she's quick from the gate and appears to have found a new home sprinting on the green stuff

2  Heleoner Ruby   logical drop here.......competitive but hasn't won for 10 months.......trainer had an upset winner yesterday......1st on the sod but bred to handle it........great chance to get a ground saving mid pack position

1  Risky Art   was quite good last summer at the solid race meet at York GB......yet to do much in the good old U S of A but her trainer drops her here and puts her in a sprint to shake things up......only needs a small move forward here to compete for the top prize

race 3    slightly above average clarity

3  Grumpy Small Mouth  major somewhat hidden move forward in last caught wide with pace.......big effort....repeat of that effort with a better trip from Gomez and she will be tough to beat

5  Warren's Rail Bird   just keeps getting better...........and better..........and better...........and his trainer/rider have been a stout combo the last couple of months popping at over 40%

6  Night Wind     last wasn't too much but in his previous effort he broke slowly and then displayed sizzling quickness rushing up to duel on the back-stretch......might clear here and that would make him a factor

race 4    average clarity

5  Sizzling Gold   2 for 2 at the distance with both her efforts better than par......does she have a 3rd straight effort in her?.....turf is usually kinder on a horse's legs than main track surfaces...we shall see

4  Sean S   laid up since Feb but training well and her trainer is a perfect 3 for 3 with this filly since he took over the training responsibilities for her

2  Elusive Cookies  might have fired her lifetime best in last but will probably need slightly more today.....and she might get it with solid rider upgrade

race 5    average clarity

8  Visionary Man   very wide in a tough MSW affair when last seen in Oct......that effort with a better trip fits fine at the m50k level if her new trainer has her ready fresh off of the bench...and my guess is he does or he would have given her a race in a non claiming race....works support the conclusion

9  Royal Meridan   trainers/players know Canani is dynamite dropping into maiden claiming out of MSW's.....so....with that in mind I am a bit leery of this nice animal up for 40K......few ? marks about his ability where many successful drops out of MSW did......claim me please or another fairly easy win for Canani

5  Hammer The Bay   solid forward move with the blinkers on both pace and final time wise.......fits as well as any here if trainer/rider can get just a little more from this colt today

2  You're Joking   solid 2nd career race way back in early Sept at today's level.....best return as good or better today because this a solid field for the level

Long-shot Possibilities:  7  St. Sincere   broke 3 slow in last and then rushed into a very fast pace....showed tons of life in her 1st ever on the AW....and her trainer is very dangerous 2nd out after layoffs

race 6    below average clarity   (all seem to have a shot)

Note:  I worked forever on this race as I always do when I find a race difficult to decipher and I found it almost impossible to split horses. But here is the hair splitting order of preference:

7  Babe Included

3  Dynamic Diva

4  Your Special Day

2  Triveni

6  Romantic Wish

1  Jinny Jump Up

5  So She Dances

race 7    slightly above average clarity

2  Muse Of  Fire   laid up Baffert charge is working extremely well even by his lofty standards......rather sure this filly will fire a big return effort this afternoon

6  Los Ojitas   horrendous start in lifetime debut and then showed plenty of ability from there.....and now we get a significant rider upgrade

5  Winding Way   Carla Gaines 1st timer sure looks meant and ready for her debut into the wonderful world of thoroughbred racing

4  Hello Broadwaydoll   low % trainer but this 1st timer is training to well to be ignored....still I have doubts he can win this.....piece of the pie seems more likely

race 8    average clarity

7  All Star Heart   talk about a steadily improving filly......laid up since Nov but she has a prolonged work series that says she's fit and ready in her return to the track

6  Star Billing   Grade 1 winner obviously has bigger and better things in mind in the near future then this small Stakes race but she is awfully good fresh

4  Briecat   mare will be hoping the 2 and the 5 horse leave her alone on the front end......if so she  most likely will be a major player here

2  Calle Vista   short on numbers but has a good post to get a nice ground saving trip.....it wouldn't be the 1st time a grass horse pulls off an upset mostly based upon a gift trip will others had trouble

race 9    slightly above average clarity

3  Playful Council   big move forward in 2nd lifetime race.....P Val who sure was amazing yesterday on the GREAT Acclamation (kick me in the fanny for not picking him on top...a horse I respect so much) gets the mount back....hope he isn't too many lbs. over weight

8  Salty Evergreen   bet hard in MSW debut and fired a strong 3rd losing to our top pick.....more or better likely today

9  Winninrulz   mom has tossed 6 winners from 7 starters including a couple of 2 year old winners and the drills are up to snuff

6  Run To Ground    debut was decent....and probably wasn't all that wound up.....better works since....more seems logical today

7  Strong Wind    decent debut as well....needs more this this afternoon

5  They Call Me Mr. P   new sire but mom has been a good producer of runners
