Santa Anita for Sunday 30 September 2012

After a great card and day yesterday we have a so so card this afternoon. Best of luck as always!

race 1    average clarity

9  Imperial Pride   like the switch to a higher % apprentice far this gelding has been a consistent animal.......seems at his best at today's 6 furlong distance

4  Warren's Concept   exits a very fast for class race at Fpx for 12.5K where the winner of the race stepped up to 20K and won rather convincingly.........this guy drops to 8K

2  Mac's Gold Bullet   6F might be as far as this gelding wants to go but he might get loose on the lead in this spot with a good speed jock up

7  Flaming Strike   didn't seem to appreciate the bullring at Fpx...........drops to a level he fits if I am right about him not liking Fpx

race 2    average clarity

11  Spring Bloom   all three lifetime grass races are a couple of lengths better than par when adjusted for trouble/trip........same horse with a better journey and he will be jock up today in Talamo to get the job done

6  Annalili   big forward move in last on the AW.....and good grass pedigree.....shot for best ever this afternoon

3  Attigirl Meadow   late turf runner seems to fire every time but has been pace dependent to some extent......connections will have their fingers crossed that they get an honest pace up front.......if so this gal is capable of roaring on by

5  Puff Pastry   race lacks speed and this filly has some........jock is only 2 for his last 62 on the sod or would have rated higher

race 3    average clarity

8  Axle   3 races back fits well........2 races back acted up - probably not right........last race fits well......and that effort was in a two turn sprint which bodes well for this gelding getting a route race

9  Toomanylucky's   debut on the AW is a fit.........bombed on the grass in last........drops from the top to the bottom maiden levels.......good drills on the SA main track.........all out today

6  Coranto   horse is not exactly headed in the right direction but he sure has had brutal trips.........small rebound and a decent trip and he will be the young fellow to overcome

5  Surfliner    need a rebound to debut effort 2 back and of course will need to handle a route of ground.....trainer is rather stout 1st time long

race 4    average clarity

2  Luz Atticus   2 year old gelding won his maiden debut at Dmr running eye to eye with another and still sticking around for the win.......recent 5F drill at SA hints the challenge of a new surface shouldn't be a problem

4  Old Man Lake   on the right end of the learning his pedigree to appreciate conventional dirt

5  Kafister   seems like a good claim by Peter looked good winning his debut.......and since that win he worked a bullet best of 81 gate drill

6  Romar Success   won debut rather impressively in mid since......seems like fit versus these if he returns 2 1/2 months later as the same individual and handles the "real" dirt

race 5    average clarity

9  Circa'sgoldengear   one win and 2 2nd's in 3 lifetime sprint grass races and two of those efforts were down the SA hill turf course....good history with Talamo.......trainer is quietly having a nice 2012

3  Smokey Lonesome    horse has been on the rebound and has won down the hill at over 7 weeks but works seem good enough to be ready fresh

4  Red Defense   keeps getting claimed and keeps running well.........fits fine if Rafael Becerra can keep the ball rolling

6  Clubhouse Rules   both lifetime races down the SA hill turf course fit decently versus these provided he gets a relatively good trip

Long-shot Possibilities:   1 Iaquinta   believe Mandella gave this Brazilian invader a race in his 1st start in the good old U S of sure are good since that 25 July race.......expecting quite a bit more out of this grass cutter this afternoon

race 6    average clarity

5  Golden Production    all three lifetime starts fit well in this spot.....very sharp 4F drill to finish off a nice series of 4 works....all systems go

10  My Bashert    O'Neill runner seems at best on conventional dirt surfaces.......last at Fpx is quite good especially pace wise

9  Saturday Nite Ride   Baffert 1st timer is training as if she is ready to roll at 1st asking.......what's new?

7  Dangerous Forest   another 1ster working as if she is meant and ready in her debut into the wonderful world of thoroughbred racing at Santa Anita

Long-shot Possibilities:   4  Rock On Misty   decent run off of the year layoff at 56 to 1.......and Smith accepts the mount.....major hint the horse  has improved greatly with that run under his belt

race 7    slightly below average clarity

3  Red Jag    Crc invader had a dull 1st out 1st time for Mulhall........but blinkers off and and now the gelding is training exceptionally well.......sure seems ready to show his solid Crc grass form

10  Off The Wall    chased a hot pace on the grass at Hol when last seen in May and faded late.....excellent preparatory work tab putting endurance and then speed into this runner......seems r4eady to roll and not fade so easily this time

8  My Summer Slew   consistent grass cuter handles the SA hill grass course rather well and that is 1/2 the battle.......good sign that Bejarano stays up

9  Half Dome Dude   horse fits fine if he handles his 1st ever on the lawn.......most runners that handle the AW also do fine on the sod......1st out after the claim for Sadler usually a very dangerous thing

Long-shot Possibilities:   5  Posse Power   last grass race way back in December is quite good and it is hidden by a bad trip........finally returns to the turf and is working awfully well

race 8     slightly below average clarity

5  Distracting   won at 1st asking for since June but sure is working as if she can make it 2 for 2 lifetime

9  Double Ante   earned a strong adjusted for trouble fig winning her MSW debut for Sherman.....and Art is quite a bit better with 2nd time starters

2  Catienus Gold   both lifetime conventional dirt races with the blinkers on likely fit here......blinkers on and "real" dirt today

3  Amy's Outburst   horrendous trip on the grass in last disguises a fit animal.........won for fun in only "fast" track effort at SA.......should be fast today

race 9    average clarity

9  Bourbon Bay   not much more than this....7 of 9 at SA on the sod......1 for 15 elsewhere

5  Interaction   3 solid races sine Mac took over the training duties for this ARG bred......race 2 back is very solid

6  Turbo Compressor   tossed a clunker in last at 2 to 1 in a Grade 1 at Sar......but Pletcher shipped x-country and Bravo is in for the ride so he likely is just fine....rebound city today

1  Grassy   last looks like a tune-up........nice horse in 2011......2nd time Jones today......very dangerous sort at a price

race 10    slightly below average clarity

3  King Maya    takes that ever significant drop out of MSW racing.......only race on the SA surface is very strong.....tough here if still in good health on the drop

11  Stars And Moons   another dropping out of MSW racing.........6 1/2 furlongs I believe will be a good fit

2  He Makes It Rain   on the improve with every start and his last is somewhat hidden by a wide trip

14  Visigodo   and yet another willing to drop out of MSW racing to get to the circle of a long time but training as if he is ready to roll fresh

5  Bull Time   has a shot to graduate

10  Bipartisan   also not impossible to graduate
