Santa Anita for Sunday 7 October 2012

Decent looking card this afternoon.

Good luck to all as always!

race 1    slightly above average clarity

2  Wild Dude   difficult trip in MSW debut.....broke slow and ran wide........good works since at SA......jock switch to Talamo who has been teaming up with Hollendorfer successfully of late

6  Super Ninety Nine   Baffert 1st timer is training sharply especially since he transferred to has been a prolific producer......4 winners from 4 starters including a Stakes winner

1  Quietasacat   bet hard in MSW debut........showed good early speed after breaking slightly tardy......good sign the red hot Bejarano stays aboard for this colt's 2nd lifetime endeavor

8  Shakin It Up   another Baffert 1ster training up to snuff for his debut into the wonderful world of thoroughbred racing at the majestic Santa Anita facility

race 2    slightly above average clarity

2  Exchange Student   progressed nicely in 2nd lifetime race......1st on the grass but that is quite often a very good thing when Tom Proctor is the conditioner

11  Controlled Chaos   solid performance in latest running wide and still managing 2nd in a rather fast heat of MSW runners.......1st on the grass but bred just fine to handle the new surface

6  Jerry'shoneycarol    improving grass runner gets a jock upgrade.....cut back in distance looks like a good fit

3  Travesura   decent forward move in 2nd lifetime start.......1st on the grass.....very dangerous for the likes of Jeff Mullins......T Baze sure looks good so far in his comeback bid.....keep it up Tyler!

Long-shot Possibilities:   4  Torreyana   27 to 1 MSW debut on the AW at Del Mar strongly suggests the race was needed.....should be fit and ready for her 1st on the sod which she is bred to handle

race 3    slightly above average clarity

1  Rumor    seems best at SA both in pace and final tine.......shot to be the controlling speed in the race with M Smith aboard.....a dangerous combination

2  Winding Way    very impressive in all 3 lifetime races all of which were on the why not top pick?........needs to prove she is as good on conventional dirt and owns only a so so recent work tab

race 4    slightly below average clarity

2  Real Housewife   good rider/trainer combo........only race on conventional dirt was at SA and it fits well here.....good history sprinting with 6 to 8 weeks between starts like today

5  Ebo's Love   trainer Lopez is very dangerous when he steps a horse up....that is the case here for this mare who in 2 of 3 on "real" dirt

6  Miss Oops   vet scratch since claimed by Dallas Keen in latest or would have rated higher....sure fits solidly here if her health in relatively intact

1  Roman Charity   claimed by Glatt and he gets the meets top gun to ride.......good sign as are the nice drills showing since Mark Glatt took control

race 5    average clarity

6  Euro Glide    fairly consistent grass cutter who seems to appreciate the 1 mile turf distance........good chance to get a nice ground saving stalk position behind our 2nd and 4th picks

1  Donato   impressive since Canani took over.......believe this lead type only has better early speed than our 4th pick who is also capable of rating

7  Hurricane Lake   late runner appreciates very firm turf and it sure was very firm yesterday.......jock seems to fit off pace runner quite well

3  Green Secret   owns talent on the grass and is best on the lead but can rate and it looks like rating would be wise here

race 6    average clarity

5  Almost A Lady   dropping off of an impressive win is alarming but it sure is hard to ignore 3 wins and 1 very close 3rd in 4 races 5 1/2 to 6 furlongs

4  Totally Blonde   back in short rest but at least it is off a grass race which is usually kinder to a horse physically......seems to be somewhat set for a late runner like this filly

6  Lady Fairbanks   scenario here is:   disliked 1st ever at a route 2 races back and then was given a gimme to be able to drop and go go go this afternoon

1  Queen Mercury   claimed by a small time trainer......but he is rather good 1st out after a claim and gets the services of R Bejarano

race 7    average clarity

9  Lady Katfish   clunker in last.....debut was quite good showing good pace and good final....1st on the lawn with a good pedigree to handle it.....can be in the hunt from the get go

10  Moulin De Mougin   wide trip somewhat hides a nice MSW debut on the AW.....but more importantly this filly owns a stellar pedigree to be able to excel on the SA hill turf course

7  Secret Motive   both lifetime races on the AW are better than par.......1st on the lawn with adequate pedigree for it....would have rated higher but for a jock who owns a very low % on the sod

5  Citizenship   useful MSW debut for this Baffert runner who is bred awfully well for the lawn......likely to have always been pointed for her 1st on the turf......a very dangerous proposition when Bob B. if the trainer

race 8    slightly below average clarity

6  Bruno's Wager   very consistent sprinter on any surface.....just claimed and the works at GG are very impressive for a 12.5K claimer

8  Privilaged   best races in 2012 are on drop downs in claiming price........20K to 12.5K today

7  Street Car   bombed in last at a route of ground.....big sprint effort two back........6F today

4  Trumpet Player Jay   7 year old was just snatched at the claiming box......seems sharp but seems somewhat more dangerous on the AW.......but on the other hand the trainer is rather good 1st run after she claims a horse

Long-shot Possibilities:   5  Battling Atticus   in for 10.5K and 7 lb apprentice gets in very light.......showed some flashy internal fractions in his 1st ever on the conventional dirt at Fpx......cuts back to a sprint today......dangerous feather weight sprinter today

race 9    slightly above average clarity

6  Let's Do It   gelding seems to have rebounded to his 2011 form.......blinkers off this afternoon.....a very strong stat for Hess.......sure seems like the one to overcome if he manages to get the 1 1/4 mile distance

7  Te Rapa   very consistent grass runner........1st this far but runs as if he will stay the distance and maybe even further

4  Romp    proven at the distance and should be prominent the get go........fits extremely well but is only 2 for 39 on the sod or would have rated higher

2  Porfido   10 year old always seems to be dangerous.......and so does the aging P Val

race 10    average clarity

NOTE:   13 Jones Destiny  would be 3rd choice if he draws into the field from the AE list

8  Somewhere With You    Belvoir is very dangerous with maiden claiming 1sters and this gelding is training as if he meant and ready to roll at 1st asking

12  Our Trooper   last 3 efforts stand out here.....can be prominent from the get go with a solid speed rider up......1st on conventional dirt is a question mark

4  Flew Flicker   good forward move in 2nd lifetime race........likely to move forward today as I believe Stute is running this horse into shape

6  Pick Six Joe   cut back in distance and drops in maiden claiming price......Mitchell charge should fit to some degree here

1  Alsace

7  Generally Ours
