Hollywood for Sunday 25 November 2012

OK card to finish off an exciting week of racing at Hollywood Park

Best of luck as always!

race 1    average clarity

2  Vaadka Logic   hidden forward move in last......caught 4 wide pressing the pace......did well to only get beat by 7 lengths.....last win came 2nd out after a layoff and that is the case today

3  Quiet Sunshine   filly is on the right end of the learning curve.......Bisono knows her well and is off to a good start at the Hol Fall meeting.....would have been top pick if she was more proven on the Hol AW

6  Siempre Esperanza     solid layoff effort in last.......most reassuring 5 furlong work since.......trainer is usually better 2nd out after a layoff than 1st out after a layoff....... good shot to show more this afternoon and more will make her tough

race 2    average clarity

4  Warren's Morgan   very consistent for a cheap 3 year old filly.....likes the distance of 6 1/2 furlongs.......exits a fast heat where she was shuffled back in the early stages or would have been much closer at the recent drills......not concerned about the horse's ability but I am concerned about Pedroza who is in a slump

5  Sweetrayofsunshine   3 races without blinkers fit fine.......blinkers were on 1st out after the Curtis claim in today for 2nd run under his guidance

2  Real Dream   nice wake up in last....sure like the price rise for Mikus who also has woken up.....filly likely is feeling good

7  Natalie's Academy   would have rated higher if this affair was less than 6 1/2F.......hasn't much punch past 6F.......still very dangerous especially if she clears from the outside and gets loose......speed has had a good week

race 3    average clarity

5  Cabo Chico   speed horse can get away here if the 6 horse is off form as much as I think he is...nice rider/trainer combo in Talamo/Heap

4  Blue Jay Attack   best at Hollywood and best at 6 furlongs on the grass.....will be motoring late with Bejarano who sticks with the late runner for a 5th straight ride

2  Dugan Bill   another late runner who should be closing late....connections will have their fingers crossed that the 1, 5, 6 turn up the early heat on one another

race 4    average clarity

3  Chapman's Peak   very sharp work series suggests this Sadler charge might bring his "A game" and if he does he will be difficult to overcome....likes the Hol synthetic.....dynamite on it at 3

2  Malibu Rum    gelding is 7 for 14 lifetime and 1 for 1 on the AW.......wide trip on an inside day at SA in last hides his ability.....T C Baze should be able to get a nice mid pace ground saving position and be a major player and at a handsome price

6  One World   1 for 1 at SA on the real dirt........0 for 2 in other 2 lifetime races which were on the Hol AW.....but this colt had excuses in both races.........dueled on a dull rail in MSW debut and rightfully tired....then was all washed out in 2nd lifetime start.....impressive rent bullet work and at Hollywood....Shirreffs is hot

7  Consulado   Baffert might have claimed a declining horse but that doesn't mean he can't turn him around.......shot to wire here if he does

race 5    slightly above average clarity

5  Dayatthespa   five in a row in the win column since Castellano took over the riding duties....ratable Brown runner stays out of trouble sitting either 1st or 2nd in her races which she is likely to do today

1  Tiz Flirtatious   WOW! was part of my notes in an eye popping 1st ever on the sod in last......broke slow, checked early on. and ran wide and still won a small Stakes going away......2nd out after the layoff and 1 mile seems like a very good fit.....great work tab especially for M Jones who doesn't push them too hard in the a.m.

2  Emulous   ultra consistent Euro invader.........jock knows mare well as he rides her all the time.....1 mile is a very good fit.....5 for 8 including a Grade 1 win in Ireland

7  Summer Soiree   dislikes the Kee grass course.....quite a few do......previous race at Saratoga was a needed layoff run......should be ready to roll today and display her 2011 form

race 6    slightly above average clarity

5  Distinctive Passion    displayed sizzling early pace in both lifetime races.....laid up for 3 months and returns with a powerful set of preparatory drills.....fresh speed/Bonde/Maldonado......dangerous combo

9  Kingsbury   red hot Tom Proctor 1st timer has hit the track every 6 or 7 days since 23 has tossed 6 winners from 7 starters.....nicely bred for sprinting.....all systems go

10  Belvin   Baffert 1st timer finished up a solid work regiment with 3 gate works in the last 4 works.....that usually indicates Bob means has tossed 11 winners from 12 starters......impressive broodmare to say the least

6  Appealing Tale   good work tab for this Miller 1st timer.....last two noteworthy (in my book of 1st start efforts) 1st start efforts for Miller were with today's jock Gomez aboard.....hmmm

race 7    average clarity

2  Buckleberry Grey   broke slow and rank and wide in last without blinkers....toss it out....didn't like dirt 2 back.....big grass race 3 back both in pace and final time with the blinkers......blinks on today....should be prominent from the get go

10  Procurement   solid 1st ever on the lawn in last.....tough post at 1 mile on the sod but Tom Proctor is so hot a forward move seems likely..... and..... if the colt does move forward he might overcome a bit of wideness

9  Wine List   sprint debut gimme then full go in a route....trainers are creatures of habit and this is a patented Ellis maneuver....not to mention the horse is well bred to appreciate the green stuff

3  Will True Up   good sprint turf tune-up in MSW debut.......full throttle today for this Miller runner who starts from a good post when the 9 and the 10 don' advantage should help him overcome what I think is a little less potential than the 2nd and 3rd picks have

race 8    slightly below average clarity

2  God Of War    owns some early speed in a race lacking it........turf-turf-win by 8 on the Dmr AW at 1 1/16.......turf-turf-1 1/16 affair on the Hol AW.....need I write more

5  Unstopper Topper    lone speed in this spot with a good speed rider aboard and a racetrack that has been fairly kind to speed the last couple of days

6  Liberty Cap   Mulhall has won the last 5 of 14 2nd out after a claim which is today's scenario.......turf tightener in last.....full trouble today back at the 40K she snatched this runner for.......should sit 2nd, 3rd, or 4th in a race seemingly advantageous for being up close in the early stages

9  Northern Iowa   Cerin runner is sharp in the a.m........fits well here and has only been put in the as the 4th choice because of a tough post to overcome.....chances are enhanced if jock can maneuver over and save some ground on turn 1

race 9    average clarity

3  Unbridled Command   vastly improved in last two East Coast grass races......and must have held form for Thomas Bush to ship across the good old U S of A.......1st at 1 1/4 but the distance sure looks within his reach.....trainer history is as good as it gets when he runs his horses in Graded Stakes

4  Grandeur   impressive win in Grade 2 event in latest.......and the horse has good history running back in short rest....23 days qualifies

11  Speaking Of Which   ultra consistent invader from Ireland good have won her last at SA in a Grade 2 with a better trip......Euro jock Patrick Smullen has a chance to make amends here

13  Summer Frost    could be 7 for 7 on the sod if it wasn't for 2 not so hot trips in last two grass races......Dominguez knows this colt well having been up for all 9 lifetime races

Long-shot possibilities:    12  All Squared Away   best two lifetime grass races are at 1 1/8th.......fits here at a price if another 1/8th of a mile is even more to his liking

race 10     average clarity

6  Miss American Pie    bye bye Miss American Pie as this filly is working like she is very ready for her maiden debut and she most likely has early speed......speed breeding as well

11  Medusalina   not the best of trips in latest hides a forward move.....filly has tactical speed and hopefully the jockey get use it to get on over and save some ground

12  Run Captive Run   Pender 1st timer is showing hints of early gas in his drills.....Pender also has put in some endurance building works.......nice combination....seems ready

10  Apalachee Song    50 to 1 in mc debut last strongly suggests the race was badly needed yet the filly was only beaten by 4 3/4's lengths....much more seems logical late  this afternoon.....another slumping jock who could use a winner

5  Embossing

8  I Love Paris
