Santa Anita for Friday 25 January 2013

Gave out some extra selections in some of the races because of the likelihood of scratches with all the rain. Also, the selections provided are for off the turf this afternoon.

Best of luck as always!

race 1    slightly below average clarity

4  Won Won Oh Five   consistent sort and improving.......and ran well on a drying out track with some moisture in it in his latest

6  Tiz Dynamic   2 for 2 at SA and his last was his lifetime best on the step up in class.......smartly steps again

5  Iizpat   lifetime best was turf to dirt.......turf to dirt today

race 2    average clarity

6  Prime Number   last race this gelding ran a significant number in a field loaded with talent for a maiden 50K affair.........softer looking group today at only 10K less......cut back in distance seems like a good thing

2  Native Plan   good layoff run in latest and it was his 1st ever on conventional dirt (also there was some moisture in the drying out track).......fits fine today with a logical move forward 2nd out after the extended break

5  Just Because   44 to 1 in MSW debut has gimme written all over it......drops into maiden claiming for a full throttle go today

7  Ezio

race 3    slightly below average  (picks are for off the turf)

10  Miss Robyn   chased a hot pace in MSW debut just 3 weeks ago and held on nicely for 2nd.......can be in the race from the get go.......last fits.......more would be icing on the cake

4  Hard Rockin Girl   trainer is off to a good start in S California and she can keep the ball rolling with this 1st timer who is working as if she is meant and ready for her debut into the wonderful world of thoroughbred racing

9  What A Spot   works aren't fast but they sure are tightly spaced and numerous hinting that this Proctor 1ster has plenty of foundation and probably awfully wound up and ready for her MSW debut

3  Perfectamente

6  Charm Catcher

2  Kyriaki

race 4    average clarity

5  Twilybird   all 3 lifetime races fit fine here and her only race run on the SA dirt was probably her best........Carava is quite good dropping off of claim......and..........he sure could use a win

2  Courageousandbold   last fits......race 2 back is quite strong winning running wide on a good inside day

1  R Doubleday   last sure appears like a tune-up to cut claiming price in half and go 2nd out after the layoff.......recent drills following his layoff run support this

9  Subtle Creek

6  Sugar Spice

race 5     slightly below average clarity  (picks are for off the turf)

5  Valeria    appears to prefer route racing........has only been on the dirt 2x and the races were at SA.....both are better than appear in print and fit at today's level......and 1st long on the dirt seems like a better fit than sprinting on the dirt

8  Bull Rush   much better on conventional dirt and I sure like the step up in claiming here off of his lifetime best in latest........Glatt likely believes this runner is feeling awfully good

7  Thermal Nermal   laid up since October but he is training up to snuff and his races in Kentucky fit well here if he is able to transfer his turf ability to the dirt.......pedigree to run on the conventional dirt seems OK

9  Light Of Life

11  Smil'n From Above

race 6    average clarity

3  Ismene   best racing credentials and the best for 13 months but is proven fresh and training like 4 for 4 has a good opportunity to happen this afternoon

4  Quizzical   2 for 2 at SA and one of those wins was on an off track......Bejarano is up and he has won all 3 lifetime starts for this 4 year old filly

1  Shumoos    off since Nov of 2011 but what a race she ran.....2nd versus the boys in the BC Sprint.......not sure how meant and ready she is for today's race.........but......... obviously she is very formidable if this is more than a tune-up and she is sharp enough fresh off of the bench

race 7    slightly below average clarity  (picks are for off the turf)

5  Miss Well Molded   very strong route grass efforts/figs in last two turf route endeavors......1st ever on the dirt but bred OK to handle it.......recent a.m. works hint she continues to be a happy healthy fily

2  Bodie Girl   won both lifetime two turn races (albeit on the turf) impressively.......ran OK on the dirt in a sprint in lone race on it........laid up since April but sure is working as though she meant and ready to roll

11  Candy Trophy   solid race 1st after the claim by Ted West........bred rather well to handle an off track

1  Pogonip

10  Sydney's Darling

race 8    average clarity

1  Huera Bonita    strong maiden debut (on a surface with some moisture in it) and the trainer is vastly better with 2nd time starters......Palma/E Flores have made for a good team

10  Nonna Reese   beat our top pick in last in a solid move forward in 2nd lifetime start.......can do it again if she manages another move in the right direction

8  Nekomata   drops multiple claiming levels and adds blinkers.....only cost $12K at sale so why not run much lower.......dangerous Mike Puype drop down

4  Firendesire

11  Sharp Bella

3  Bluejoy
