Santa Anita for Sunday 17 March 2013

Best of luck as always!

race 1    average clarity

3  Awe Golly Molly Molly   only route race on conventional dirt rated fast is her best race of her career and it is disguised by a bad trip where she was caught wide on a day the inside was the place to be......and........she still beat 1/2 the field versus better.......might be at best today running off of a layoff turf tightener

6  Swiss Bliss   consistently fires sprint races that fit at today's level of racing......but distance racing is a question mark with her pedigree or I would have made her the top selection here

4  Sweetraypofsunshine   5 for 5 on conventional dirt and keeps stepping up in class......will need another step up today for her 5th new trainer Bill Spawr.........dangerous sort

race 2    average clarity

7  Wind Of Bosphorus    repeat of her last down the SA hill turf course would be tough to overcome at today's slightly lower level........good gate horse and decent early foot makes it likely she gets a good trip

5  Lico   definitely on the right end of the learning curve......and will need to keep the learning process going today as this is her 1st ever on the green carpet......pedigree to handle the grass seems OK

3  Wild Student   blocked & boxed in or could have graduated in a route grass race at the same maiden claiming level in latest.....1st ever down the hill today is somewhat of a ? mark

1  Horizontalyspeakin

race 3    slightly below average clarity

3  Smoken Legacy   only one of two late runners in the field suggests this Pender runner might be in the drivers seat.......1 for 1 on conventional dirt rated fast

1  Sir Allison   good history on "real" dirt and I believe 6 1/2 furlongs is a good fit for him.......waited for room in latest or might have won at one notch higher.......continues to train like a happy healthy horse

6  Fast N Furious Cat   might be speed of the speed in this spot and draws a good post for a front running type.........will need to be involved in a reasonable pace or he will most likely flatten at 6 1/2F

race 4    slightly below average clarity

1  Ready For Love   not too bad a 1st start especially considering the 30 to 1 odds suggests the race was needed.......and it is never easy to get a debuting maiden fit enough to go a route of ground........rather sure we see quit a bit more today from this Blacker 2nd time starter

8  Sidepocket Run   nice forward move in 2nd lifetime start.......1st at a route but bred enough to handle the added distance.....trainer sure seems overdo for a break out of sorts

9  Jade With Envy   nice 2nd in 1st race on the grass which was down the hill....1st long on the grass but she showed enough in a slop route to suggest she will handle a turf route today

4  Warren's Cracker

Long-shot possibilities:   5  The Grans   2 of 3 route grass races since the blinkers were put on fit here if Krigger gives this mare a good ride....and Krigger is a jock upgrade from the jock who rode in those 3 races

race 5    slightly above average clarity

1  Mel's Game   very strong effort/fig in last and he crossed the wire totally in control with a hand ride........solid breeze since.......rather sure this Mitchell runner has held form......2 for 2 at 7F is a big plus

2  Ain't No Other   very consistent sort 0n any surface but will need to avoid flattening out at 7F as he tends to get kind of flat late sometimes in races past 6F

3  Thirtyfirststreet    been a long time since this Eurton charge sprinted but he is 1 for 1 at 7F......dangerous if the radical change in distance awakens this capable runner

race 6    average clarity

3  Kilat   decent chance to be speed of the speed and I think he can chase if need be........weight drills since his impressive wire win in his 1st ever down the hill

2  Rock Me Baby   done little wrong in 3 lifetime starts including a nice 2nd down the SA hill in latest.......very impressive 6F drill just 7 days........rather sure feeling good

11  Dixieland Blues   well proven on the SA hill......late running type with plenty of gas in the field to help flatter his late run......stout trainer......stout rider

5  Tribe

race 7    above average clarity

9  Footbridge   powerful race 2 back and then topped that with an effort that could have made him competitive in a Graded race for 3 year like he has held form and if he does someone will have to move forward a ton to beat him

4  Aleander   big move forward for this Baffert runner in 2nd lifetime start and will need another big forward move today to overcome our top pick if he has held form

1  Consurgo   acted up very badly rearing in the tunnel and rearing on the track and still managed to run 3rd in MSW him warm-up if you can.......should run much better if he behaves today

8  Spirited Touch

race 8    average clarity

5  Ismene   race lacks speed and she has plenty of it if she takes to the grass as well as she runs on the dirt........and her pedigree is very good for the grass....loose and might never look back

7  Curvy Cat   the epitome of consistency .....13 for 13 on the board on multiple surfaces....(turf - AW - dirt).......races with 2 lbs off and she has shown some early foot at times......might be able to sit within 2 to 4 lengths of the lead in a race seemingly set for those close up early

3  Dancingtothestars   another who owns the versatility of handling multiple surfaces.......and she sure seems to fire every time when today's jock (Mario Gutierrez) is aboard.....might be able to sit within striking distance of our top pick

8  Miss Well Molded

race 9    average clarity

8  Imflamed Spirit   I believe this is a  logical drop (as opposed to his connections hoping he gets claimed) to get to the circle of joy for this Bob Baffert runner after one 3rd, one 4th, and one 5th in 4 lifetime starts

2  Flew Flicker   3 of last 4 are par or better for today's level when you adjust for trip trouble and any pace factor.......Stute is good bringing a horse back in short rest and 10 days rest sure qualifies

9  Cut To The Front   fell off in last but ran a strong race 2 back and it is hidden some.....ran wide close to a decent pace and still beat 1/2 the field......decent preparatory works for today as well

4  Trice Up

3  Sir Huntsman

7  Ice Cream Truck
