Hollywood for Sunday 5 May 2013

Back to reality after all the fun yesterday. Derby day and BC days kind of make for a racing hangover on Sunday. OK card to finish week two of the Bhp meeting.

Best of luck as always!

race 1    slightly above average clarity

3  One World   5 year old with only 1 win drops to earn his keep and cut the losses.....solid work series hints the Shirreffs barn is all business

6  Prime Number   1st ever on the synthetic but working awfully well on it and he handles the  turf and most that do run well on the Hol AW.......should be in the hunt from the get go

2  Valentine Boy   shows some signs of being able to rate and might be wise to rate here in this race with plenty of early gas.......race might fall into his lap if he does

race 2    average clarity

2  Global Glow    tends to hang but.......he sure looks loose here with nobody in front of him to be able to hang on

3  Streets of Heaven   consistent sort is tailing off some but gets Bejarano and should get a very nice stalking position versus a soft group

7  Our Boy Benjamin   sure like when a new trainer takes over (Jones to Cerin) and a horse drops in claiming like this fellow.......closer does have to overcome what should be a soft pace up front

6  Quindici Man

race 3    slightly above average clarity

3  Teddy's Promise   won the version of this race last race and earned a very solid fig......and 4 for 8 on the Hol AW.......4 for 14 on other surfaces

2  Shumoos    Cecil runner has done nothing wrong in races less than 6 1/2 furlongs on main track surfaces.......filly won a Grade 3 in GB at 6F last year on the AW.......and I sure like her two endeavors on the turf in 5F races in GB

7  Hidinginplainsight   nice small Stakes win at GG in exceptionally well on the AW at Hol.......looks poised for another strong effort

6  Magical Blend

race 4    average clarity

1  R Doubleday    has proved she can bust out well from the 1 hole in the past and if she does here she can be loose with a tough hard nosed speed rider aboard

3  No Tricks For Jack   good history running in 6 to 6 1/2 furlong main track races........logical pull back to 12,500 tag should enhance her chances today

2  Warrens Venedalucy   laid up runner is working as if she is meant and ready fresh off of the bench......won her last time she ran on the Hollywood AW and won with a very low % jock up.....10% 5 lb alw apprentice up here

5  Magic Mama

race 5    average clarity

5  Too Fast To Pass    handle the grass much better than appears in print in his lone race on it which was run at GP......and it was a route race and boy does this Miller invader seem more suited to a sprint on the sod

2  The Whole Deal   steadily improving sort fired a par like effort in his last and par is a good thing......also the cut back of 1/2 furlong on the grass seems like a plus

3  Laugh At Life   not much of a time/number in last but there sure should be plenty in the tank for today as he won in an easy hand ride with the light weight app up.....1st on the lawn but his pedigree seems OK for it

race 6    average clarity

10  Everton   expensive purchase is working as though he might be a good one and he seems meant and ready first out of the box for Baffert.....what's new

4  Drover Crazy   Ellis runner exits a very fast heat of MSW runners where running 2nd by 11 with a 4 wide trip wasn't bad....and Ellis is often much better with 2nd time starters

2  Imperial Fortune   what's new again?.........another Bob Baffert 1ster seemingly all cranked up and all set to be competitive in his MSW debut

6  Rookie Sensation

race 7    slightly below average clarity

4  Niagara Falls    only beaten by 4 lengths versus much better in a marathon grass race sure bodes well for his chances here at 1 3/16's miles where many in this group will find the distance a challenge endurance wise

5  Apostle Falls    last two races are solid 1 mile grass affairs and today we get a rider upgrade........and the 3 year old is bred nicely to get the distance

2  Prestige Worldwide   invader from GP (claimed by Mulhall) showed he can run this far as he ran well on a yielding grass course in Feb as a 3 year old which suggests an extra 1/16 today in May should be right up his alley

7  Prince Telemachus

race 8    average clarity

7  American Act   toss out last.....didn't like the blinkers.....toss out previous.......didn't like an off track.......previous 5 sprint races are good....and this Carava runner broke his MSW versus Bodemeister

6  Black N Beauty   solid if he brings his "A game" and his a.m. work hints that he will........should get what he does well with.......a nice stalk position

1  Royal Meridian    definitely on the right end of the learning curve and you would think the trend should continue 2nd out after the layoff

4  Golden Itiz

race 9    average clarity

7  My Pal Ariana   another Mulhall GP claim who sure looks like the one to beat here with one caveat....she still needs to prove she can run on the AW.....but she does handle turf and that is usually a good thing when it comes to handling the Hol Cushion track

8  Rosies Rascal   newest hot rider/trainer team won with a 1ster yesterday.......and this 1st timer sure is training well especially considering the maiden claiming level here

5  Mezzanotte   training as if she is ready fresh off of the bench and......her only good race in 3 different surfaces is on the Hollywood AW

11  Proud Bok

4  Proud Bok

2  Tiz Anna
