Hollywood for Thursday 20 June 2013

Average card today but Friday's I like quite a bit. Well maybe not as much as the Blackhawks to win the Stanley Cup after snatching back home ice advantage after a wild 6-5 overtime win last night. Go Hawks!

Best of luck as always!

race 1    slightly below average clarity

4  Jesse's Giacomo   sure like the fact that O'Neill steps this filly up multiple levels off of a major wake-up win in her last......ran wide on a slight rail bias and still won by 6L......and she races with 4 pounds less in today's affair

2  Tribal Custom   SCRATCHED seems to need the lead to win and seemingly only has the 3 horse to dish early and gets the advantage of racing with 5 less pounds with the hot riding apprentice in the irons

6  Egyptian Femme    best grass race ever in last seems to bode well for a switch back to the AW which this GG invader appears to prefer

race 2    slightly above average clarity

1  Change of Plan   sure seems like the best early gas in this field and seems quite likely to get loose........takes the ever dangerous drop from MSW racing into maiden claiming

3  Public Defender   nice forward move in 2nd lifetime race and 1st  race at a route of ground.......jockey upgrade.........and seems likely to sit in a good stalking position behind our top pick

2  Warren's Cliff S.   layoff last is significantly better than appears in print........but maybe more importantly this gelding's a.m. work is vastly improved......rather sure he is moving forward this afternoon 2nd out after the break

7  Ancient Stone

race 3    average clarity

3  Spring Dream   SCRATCHED   fell off in last her 2nd lifetime start........rider upgrade........weight off.........and a cut back of 1/2 furlong all can be the catalyst to help this Sherlock runner rebound to her maiden debut race which would make her tough here

9  Ninnavee   difficult post for a 4 1/2F race as the turn comes up rather quickly but owns the best early speed unless some of the 1st timers inside of her own some early foot.......will be the one to beat if she does clear and get loose on the lead

2  Stunning Drama   dangerous looking drills for this Canani 1st timer.........and Canani who overall has a low % record with his 1sters does not with maiden claiming 1st timers

5  Raja's Rose

race 4    average clarity

1  Sizzling Gold   decent return to the race wars in latest following a 3 1/2 month hiatus........seems to have benefited from the race as her work since is very impressive (a bullet 47H best of 68).....might be sitting on a top effort and her top tops these

6  Heat Trap   nice win in MSW debut and it was at today's 6F on the sod........fits fine if she logically builds on the race and moves forward a couple of lengths

4  Atta Girl Alma   three year old filly has done little wrong when she competes in sprints on the green 3 lifetime grass races she owns a win and a second down the hill at SA and a 2nd at Hol at 6F

5  Tribal Chatter

race 5    slightly below average clarity

6  Indian Winter      fired a big hidden bad trip effort following the claim by Glatt way back in Nov 2012.......laid off since but is training extremely well for a 8K trainer might own the trump card for this five year old

3  Baron Von Red   alarming drop from the sky for this gelding but Julio Canani wins with about 25% of these kind over the last few years.....and this fellow works as though he is still in relatively decent health

1  Our Magic Couple  big wake up winning at 32 to 1 in his latest his 1st ever on the Hollywood Cushion Track.......might need a little more today but his last might have tightened him up some......if it did he fits

2  Always the Same

race 6    average clarity

8  Carbonite   not sure if this Sadler charge is up to his "A game" but he sure will be tough here if he is.......has run awfully well versus better in most of his career

7  Major Magic   lost to a red hot horse in his layoff last and most likely needed the race.......likely to run better today with the race under his belt and a significant recent best of 43 bullet 5/8ths drill just 5 days ago

6  La Mano Nero   nice rider upgrade to Bejarano........decent shot to get the rail or 2 path on or near the lead in this spot void of much early speed.......will be tough if that occurs

3  Oligarch

race 7    slightly above average clarity

2  Know More   all three lifetime races on the AW are significantly better than appear in print including his layoff last where he dueled in solid pace on a suspect rail and rightfully tired......a ton here if things go his way trip wise this afternoon

3  Derringer   definitely on the right end of the learning curve since Sadler claimed five races back.......and is training as well as any Sadler runner in quite some time

6  Freakin Rocket   won high priced maiden claiming debut by 9 3/4L......yikes........his win was a par like effort considering today's higher level......normally par is stout but not here as this colt will still need 3 or 4 more lengths of improvement to match our top two if they fire good efforts......not impossible to jump forward if he greatly benefited from his debut

race 8    slightly below average clarity

1  Brave Act    speed of the speed here......a good starting post.......and a jock who does awfully well on the lead......1st at a route of ground but has a good pedigree for a Cal bred to handle one

5  Volkonsky    decent MSW debut and a nice series of works since......retains Bejarano and owns a pedigree that says that the two turns will be right up his alley.......and his grass pedigree seems adequate

10  Dreamnofatticus    two solid lifetime races both of which were grass sprints......and like are top two selections he owns a good route pedigree..........would have been top pick if it wasn't for the 10 post being 0 for 13 in turf routes at this meet so far.......10 post and out are 1 for 23 in turf routes at the meet.........a couple scratches would help his chances

3  Little Professor

9  Warren's T. Baze

8  Barton Hill
