Hollywood for Friday 28 June 2013

[private]

Four races rated better than "average clarity" and only one race rated less than "average clarity" makes for a good card to hopefully jump start a nice weekend of racing at Hollywood Park.

Best of luck as always!

race 1    above average clarity

5  Disco Lemonade   exceptionally strong race (wide close to solid pace) for a maiden 20K claimer in latest.....so wisely steps up to Mdn40K......would have to really dislike two turn racing not to be stout here.......pedigree is decent to appreciate route racing

1  Top Knot   seems likely to get a close to the pace ground saving trip........back in one week..........might be feeling good

6  Spoiledandentitled   takes that ever dangerous sometimes magical drop from MSW racing into maiden claiming....still will need lifetime best today and by quite a bit

race 2    slightly above average clarity

2  Blazen All Star   Mike Puype had a tremendous week last week and he can keep the ball rolling here with this drop in claiming.......last race fig/effort fits and since the race this filly hasn't missed a beat in the a.m......1 for 1 at today's distance

5  Cavalla   filly is best on the Hol AW and this race is most likely the last time for her to run on it's synthetic surface till Fall.......she has a great chance to sit on or near the lead with a 7 to 11 lb. weight advantage over her competition and with a very capable apprentice in the iron

6  La Pomme D'amour   nowheresville on convention dirt and the turf in 3 lifetime starts.......but 1 for 1 on the AW and it was at Hol and at today's 1 1/16th distance

race 3    average clarity

2  Yodelmesomemagic   running lines have this youngster declining some but.......last might by a gimme to dirty the form up some as to not be claimed in her first race being put up for a tag.....back to Maldonado and blinkers on hints at this......a ton here if up to her effort in her MSW debut 3 races back

6  Divine Way   moved forward some in 2nd lifetime start in a nice 3rd versus the boys......fits as well as anyone here if O'Neill can keep this filly moving in a positive direction

1  Eddies Curl   Ed Freeman is having his best meeting in S Cal since I have handicapped the circuit........and that includes with youngsters like this 2 year old filly

8  She's Flush

race 4    average clarity

6  Follini   ran just fine in last even though he was beaten by 9L......broke a little tardy and ran wide close to a solid pace and rightly tired late......hot trainer/rider and 1 for 1 on the sod winning 2 races back at 6 furlongs on the Hol grass course

5  Lucky Cotton   done little wrong since the blinkers were put on 2 races back......continues to work like a happy healthy horse

3  Broadway Nika   vastly improved in last seemingly out of nowhere battling for the win at 42 to 1 until deep stretch.......trainer Josh Litt is quite dangerous route to sprint and that is the scenario here

4  Me Like Mikey

race 5    slightly below average clarity

2  Domonation   claimed in last off of a strong effort (hidden some by a wide trip) worthy of a step up of one notch in claiming......and the works since the Dean Pederson claim hint things are going well for the new connections.......and we get a major league jockey upgrade

3  Sir Allison   last two times this Baffert charge ran 2nd out after a layoff an improved race occurred.........2nd out after a layoff here.........fits solidly if the pattern stays intact for today

1  Royal Dream   trainer is most dangerous when he runs a horse 3rd out after a layoff which is the case for this runner this afternoon

race 6    slightly above average clarity

7  He's Not Too Shaby   stepped on the grass for the first time and loved it.........smartly put into a non-claiming allowance race.........repeat of last would make this Mullin's runner tough.....more would be icing on the cake

1  Mr. Ornery   Marty Jones runner seems to fit Joe Steiner well with a win and 2 2nd's with him aboard and all 3 three races were at today's Hol 6F turf configuration

6  Field Report   consistent sort on the main track tries the green carpet for the 1st time ever..........good history fresh off of the bench .......11 weeks off qualifies for being fresh off of the bench and the trainer is quite good off of 2 or 3 month layoffs

4  Exotic Slew

race 7    average clarity

2  Curly Top   continues to improve with each and every race and his last is disguised by running wide on a good inside day.......Baffert runner should be stout here if Martin Garcia gives this well bred colt a better journey this afternoon

3  Scherer Magic  this Sadler runner's best ever was set in his last which was run at the furthest distance he had ever run to date 7 1/2F...........that seemingly bodes well along with an adequate route pedigree for this sharp 3 year old to handle the 2 turn distance of 1 1/16th

5  R S Watson   2 for 2 at Hollywood running at today's distance.......facing tougher today but might get a nice stalk position behind the 1 horse.......and he stalked a front runner in last and he sure responded running his best ever in a strung out field at the wire

race 8    slightly above average clarity

1  Coconut Cream Pie   blocked a half dozen lengths on the turn and stretch or would have won for fun at today's same level.....and it was her 1st at a route..........good post........good turf trainer........good grass rider

5  Peggy Sue's Loose    great name for a filly who seems likely to open a nice lead here.......she surprised many in last dueling in strong pace and only getting beat by 4L at 1/16th further

10  Sidepocket Run   last two races are better than par by quite a bit when you adjust for running wide.......but.......nasty post today for a 1 mile grass race with the rail 15 ft out but at least she gets 1st time Bejarano to help her overcome the unlucky post draw

4  L L Cool Jo

3  Stellar Atmosphere

7  Tiz a Classy Lass
