Hollywood for Saturday 29 June 2013

Not an easy card to decipher but that doesn't mean the hard work might not pay off. We shall see.

Best of luck as always!

race 1    below average clarity

3  Fast Track   tepid top pick ran best ever turf to AW two races back......and today's he gets a significant rider upgrade

5  Soul Candy   been facing better and his effort two races back is strong and is somewhat disguised by a bad trip

4  Groovin' Solo   woke up in latest......and his best ever was the last time he wore blinkers 10 races back......finally they are back on today......what took you so long?

race 2    average clarity

2  Pincelada   best early speed (best recent numbers too) and only 5 1/2 furlongs to stick around......dropping 2 notches to 8K seems fine as the connections dropped to 8K for an abbreviated sprint of 5 1/2F 3 races back

8  Michailasheartlite   improving bottom level claimer retains the hot riding Joe Talamo......trainer could use a win

1  Meadow Lake Queen   seems likely to get a good chase position and might even lead if our top pick has trouble early.......jock upgrade for today which is always nice

7  Quest for Success

race 3    above average clarity

5  Obviously   one of the best milers on the turf in the good old U S of A gets a spot where he is so so so much the lone speed.......heavy favorite has to blow a gasket not to be formidable here

3  Wilkerson    2 for 2 on the Hol grass and is working on it very impressively......ready for a big race.......should be able sit behind the leader hoping that the favorite has an off day

4  Lucayan     solid 2nd in USA debut especially considering his last race was in Oct of 2012 in a race run in France......same or better seems likely today.....will have his fingers crossed that the pace scenario works out better than appears on paper

race 4   average clarity

1  My Sweet Addiction   exits an extremely fast heat (in her MSW debut too boot) where running 2nd by 7L worked out to be quite a bit better than par for the level and she ran kind of wide in the race....repeat of the effort and she will be very tough

2  Tappingintherain   MSW debut appears to be a tune-up because Krujac sure has tightened the screws on his new filly for her 2nd lifetime start....and the trainer is much more dangerous with 2nd timers

4  Nickels Wild   moved forward in 2nd lifetime start both in pace and final time....has never worked better since the race........believe likely to move forward again especially since Stevens is now up.....Gary only seems to be getting on live horses of late

race 5    average clarity

2  Vibrato Jazz   should get a solid pace up front and at least save some ground early with top jock up......distance seems like a good fit and it won't be for many in here

1  Mr T Bird   2 of 7 lifetime races are impressive and they were both fresh races.....fresh quite well.....and one hot trainer lately in Mike Puype.....danger city

5  Shadow Runner   last was decent (endurance building) especially considering that this 4 year old probably was racing too far at the marathon distance of 1 1/2 miles.......cut back of 5/16ths sure looks like a good thing

6  Diamondsdiplomat

race 6    slightly below average clarity

6  Swissarella    very game for a baby in her debut in and out of traffic getting blocked now and then and still responding in the stretch drive......and earned a solid fig for this level......and Mr Stevens wants the mount

8  Stole a Kiss   very good work regiment for this Puype MSW 1st timer and the trainer has been sending out the majority of his stock ready to roll of late

1  Smoove It   shuffled back about 4L on the turn in her MSW debut and did well to finished a 3 3/4L 3rd........same with a clean trip and she should be in the hunt for the win

3  Moving Desert

race 7    slightly above average clarity

1  Sweet Lulu   broke poorly and rushed up and she still was able to win her MSW debut at 1 to 2 (yikes) by daylight.....and since continues to train like something special

3  Ostourah    last was OK her 1st for Baffert......but her other lifetime race run with Chad Brown as the trainer was exceptionally fast for a 2 year filly running 6F on the grass at Bel in Sept.....1st on the synthetic but bred fine to handle it....very dangerous if needed her last

4  Tres Belle   needs a rebound to her winning MSW debut effort 2 back........decent shot to be loose on the lead here if the stout top pick breaks badly again......and any Baffert horse loose on the front end is oh so dangerous

6  Camryn Kate

race 8    slightly below average clarity

8  Fear the Beard   layoff last was an OK effort but she likely needed the race and if she returns to her turf form she displayed in early winter (with a race under her belt) then she should be tough here

7  Deacon Speakin'   very positive change in turf riders for today.........and a very strong effort for level race 2 back......and this deep closer sure appears to get plenty of early pace here to flatter his late running style

11  Achilles   has run some better than they look races versus quite a bit better in 2013 but only earned chump change for his significant drop and being put up for a tag makes some sense to yours truly

3  Golden Mexico

race 9    average clarity

2  Jimmy Creed   very consistent Graded Stakes sprinter is 1 fo1 at today's 7F distance........and I believe R Mandella has come to the realization this quality horse is at his best with ample time between starts..........gets it here

4  Comma To The Top   seems best on the Hol AW.....and seems best on a loose lead......believe this Miller runner gets both here

9  Camp Victory    won this race last year by a wide margin.....has been in a slump of sorts but his recent work regiment hints at a rebound of sorts today

5  Drill

race 10    average clarity

11  Spectacularjourney   was on the improve with every start until fell off a little in last......small rebound combined with a rider upgrade can make for a solid contender today

8  Budding Affair   5.5K purchase is finally racing where he belongs this afternoon on the drop to the bottom level maiden claiming.....and we get the hot apprentice and his weight break for this afternoon's race

7  Milk Man Ray   working as good as he ever has.....and an interesting cut back from 5 straight route races to 7F.....should have plenty of horse come late stretch

9  Brown Boss

2  Jazillionaire

5  Jeffrey's Pride
