Hollywood for Saturday 6 July 2013

Nice Saturday card. Only 5 more days of racing at the Spring/Summer Hollywood Meeting for 2013. Turf meets the Surf is next up!

Best of luck as always!

race 1    slightly above average clarity

2  Street Car    hot barn in control of this laid up 7 year old and the work-outs and the price rise strongly suggest this Glatt runner is returning very sharp and ready to roll fresh

6  Plenny of Henny    4 wins and 1 2nd in 7 races at the distance.........wide trip in last and still won for fun.......deservedly steps up 2 levels

3  Gallant Gent   blocked and clipped heels more than a 1/2 dozen lengths in last or wins quite easily........must have exited the race in good shape (clipping heels can hurt) as Carava steps him up multiple levels

race 2    slightly below average clarity

5  Irish Surf    3 better than average 3rds in 3 grass races.........wide trip in last somewhat hides a lifetime best.......blinkers on most likely to get this runner in the earlier on

2  Angel Charge    blinkers on in last appears to have improved this Garcia runner as he had good early speed at 1 1/4 on the sod and rightfully tired late......cut back of 1/8th sure appears to be a positive.....looks loose again and very dangerous

3  Indycott   last at GG wasn't too bad but more importantly this Mandella runner has a pedigree that screams out for more distance.......1/8th further today

1  Point And Shoot

race 3    average clarity

4  Gnarly Dude    2 for 2 with the blinkers taken off if you don't count losing the rider at the start in one race........continues to train like a happy healthy individual

6  Hadfunlastnight   back where belongs on the AW where he is 4 of 6 lifetime and 2 of 3 on Hollywood's synthetic......that'll do

5  Courtside    ran well for the 1st time ever from off the pace in latest......but......might want to use his speed here as he might be able to open up a loose lead and with the hot app. up

race 4    slightly below average clarity

9  Cast A Doubt    both races run with Ron Ellis as the conditioner are solid for today's level and both were run at Hollywood on the AW.........good sign that Talamo (in a battle for the riding title) sticks around for the 3rd straight time

3  Carlsbad Mountain    been missing in action for 1 1/2 years ever since his MSW debut......but he sure is training as if he is ready to rock n roll and and do it as a 1st time gelding

7  Vavoom   last drill showing for this Mark Tsagalakis 1ster hints that he might be ready for his debut into the wonderful world of thoroughbred racing

2  Spirited Touch

race 5    slightly above average clarity

3  Schiaparelli    new much improved mare since the blinkers became part of her equipment 3 races back......1st time long but this is only one mile and her pedigree is solid for being able to handle middle distance grass races

1  Stormy Lucy   about 4L of trip trouble.......and......sitting too far back somewhat hides a good layoff run.......logical move forward 2nd out after the layoff combined with better trip make her a top contender here

6  I Dazzle    2 of her last 4 grass races give her a shot here provided top jock Bejarano can give her a good ride from the outer-most 6 post

race 6    slightly above average clarity

6  Secret Compass    costly purchase in March.......stellar works for a 2 year old filly........Bob Baffert.............spell R-E-A-D-Y

2  Spy Girl   same as above but trained by Miller and bought in April

5  Savings Account   Tom Proctor has woken up (that's a scary thing) and he sure appears to have this 1st timer ready at first asking.......trains as if he owns some good early speed

7  Abide In Me

race 7    average clarity

12  Suances Candy    displayed big time early speed in last and it is a little hidden because he broke 2 1/2L slow out of the gate.......good gate break today has a good shot at making him the controlling formidable speed here

1  Pretty Darn Quick    moved forward in last and has trained awfully well since......might be all set to rebound to his maiden debut effort 3 races back which was run on April Fools Day 2012......definitely a top contender if that occurs

2  Knucklebuster    last fits fine but it was 2 1/2 months ago and it was his 1st race in over 14 months.......healthy enough or not?.......tough call.......say 60/40 in the favor of being in good enough physical condition for today's race

4  Forever Freedom

race 8    average clarity

4  Super Ability   very nice gelding on any surface including the turf.....1 for 1 at the distance on the grass and it was an impressive grass win pressing a hot pace

2  Guest Star    good history running fresh on the turf in sprints........fresh today but this time he will need to meet a greater challenge running fresh in a turf route.......good connections to get it accomplished

1  Swift Eagle   will need very best to get the win here.......cut back of 1/16th and Bejarano remaining aboard might get a top effort out of him

7  Desormais

race 9    above average clarity

2  Game on Dude   lone speed here for one of America's best racehorses and 3 wins and 1 2nd in 4 races on the Hol AW........very tough here

1  Clubhouse Rules    decent chase position here........will try to catch one tough cookie in Game On Dude........sure is training as if he has never been better

race 10    slightly below average clarity

2  Dramatic Allen    definitely on the right end of the learning curve......same race as last would be a fit......more would be icing on the cake

7  Dewrag   toss out last as he disliked a route of ground......race 2 back is decent and it is disguised by a bad trip.........and last but not least by any means this DeLeon runner is a 1st time gelding and many 1st time geldings move forward

9  Somewhere With You   not very good trips in last two races.....that hides some decent form......and now we get a jock upgrade to 1st time Bejarano.....and the trainer Vann Belvoir is good 3rd out after layoffs which is today's scenario

16  Eddie Better

5  Cosmic Heat

11  Alsace
