Santa Anita for Thursday 31 October 2013

Decent card this afternoon so let's hope that bodes well for those of you who love to play the significantly large pick 6 carryovers like we have for today.

Both Friday and Saturday's selections will be posted no later than 5 a.m. Pacific time.

Best of luck as always!

race 1    average clarity

3  Miz Wounded Knee   1 1/16th might be the key to deciphering this bottom of the barrel claimer as most in here appear to want no part of running past 1 mile but for this filly I believe it is a plus .......last was OK but what we want is her race 2 back

1  Pure Blush   seems as if 1 1/16th is a plus for this filly as well......solid rebound in latest 1st out after the Craig Dollase claim

7  Psalm Sixteen   rider upgrade to Luis Saez who is in for the big weekend.........likely gets loose here and very dangerous.......unless........our 4th choice reverts back to the sizzling early turn on foot he showed last summer

4 Totally Blonde

race 2    average clarity

2  Frandontjudge    seems likely to get a nice ground saving journey near or on the front end.......last sure fits well fig/effort wise but this O'Neill runner does have to answer the question of handling his 1st ever route with a so so route pedigree

5  Back to Life   impressive late run after being compromised in the early stages as this filly sat in the rear of the race which was one slow paced affair.......seems like there will be an honest pace today........still a maiden but likely to fly late here if she does get the honest pace

6  Appearance   did move forward in latest with the blinkers off.....but will most likely need another move in the right direction if she wants to see the winners circle for a 2nd straight time

1  One More Wild Ride

race 3    average clarity

6  Square Dancer   laid up since late May but returns as a 1st time gelding and draws Rosario........both lifetime one mile grass races are solid including a win over Bio Pro who turned out to be one nice grass horse.......up for 40K so my guess is he is fully ready or Peter Miller would have placed him in a non-claiming event to get a race into him

1  Sinfully    all three lifetime races on the sod are a fit here....and retains top gun Bejarano......that'll do

7  He's Not Bluffin   Washington bred appears to be in very good form for his 1st ever on the grass........gelding owns somewhat obscure but interesting turf pedigree that hints he may take to the green carpet

8  Under Review

race 4    average clarity

2  Hold Everything   impressive 12 Oct. debut chasing a very fast pace (especially for a two-year-old MSW route race) and rightfully faded to 3rd in a very fast heat......Baffert colt likely to be one tough cookie from start to finish with that strong debut effort under his belt

4  Kristo   Sadler baby made a solid move forward in last his 2nd lifetime start and 1st on the SA surface.........1st ever long today with an adequate pedigree to handle the two turns and two furlongs more than his last

6  Silent Ruler   stepped up in last and improved quite a bit as the connections thought he would.........steps up again for his 1st ever long.........sure like his breeding to appreciate a route........and.......his trainer Keith Desormeaux is quite stout 1st time he sends a given horse long

5  Cautious Ruler

race 5    slightly above average clarity

4  Hotradamus   both lifetime races on the SA hill turf course are better than appear in print and would make this gelding tough here.......slightly leery of the drop into claiming but this is the last shot to run down the hill till late December.....and Nakatani (who rides this five-year-old well) stays aboard......and trainer sure is in win mode of late

10  Mr. Bossy Pants   auto-pilot type to say the least.............and the seven-year-old sure has a stellar history for trainer Diodoro and rider Maldonado.......not the easiest of posts but the "Pants" seems to handle any post

3  Carbonite   toss out last as this claimer wanted no part of a two turn race......even a two turn race of only 6 1/2F......back to a one turn affair on a surface he appreciates......2 for 4 lifetime on the hill.......fits well in this 32K claiming spot

6  Dashing Ash

race 6    average clarity

3  Rousing Sermon   new rider in last......and a new tactic of sending this colt early.........ended up working with a solid going away at the wire win in latest.......seems likely to once again be able to get a similiar stalking position as his successful last

5  Soi Phet   last two sure have put this Powell charge into a new higher class of racing.......question is can he fire a 3rd straight race of such strength... ..Powell has done miracles with the former Gary Stute runner to not

2  Summer Hit   looks loose here and if allowed to slow things done early.............he...........may............go.............all..............the..................way

race 7    slightly below average clarity

(AE 14   Promiscuoussaunces has a shot here if she draws into field)

7  Chimi Dee   layoff turf route run in last sure looks as if Victor Garcia (who is strong 2nd out after layoffs) is using the "route to sprint" training maneuver to have this filly fully ready for today's endeavor down the SA hillside turf course.....only lifetime race down the hill is solid

1  Horsesanddivorces   chased a sizzling pace in latest and rightfully tired......blinkers on for today says the connections want this filly on the lead giving her a shot to wire the field......decent chance to be loose if the 14 horse fails to draw into the field from the AE list

6  Heat Du Jour   just fired lifetime best and the effort is hidden by a wide trip......cuts back in distance to a turf sprint and draws 1st time Bejarano who is quite the upgrade from the jocks who rode in this runner's 3 attempts down the SA hill which all were better than appear in print

3  Oscillator

race 8    average clarity

9  Sophie's Secret   seemingly best ever was was run 2 races back off of short rest .....back in short rest of 11 days for today with the blinkers being put on.......just worked a bullet 3F drill only 4 days ago most likely with the blinkers.......might be sitting on best ever

11  Magic Number   nice move forward with the blinkers on in latest........6 1/2 looks like a good distance for this filly and it will not be for many in this racing affair

4  Sheza Eyeopener    not too much on the conventional dirt in last which was her 2nd lifetime start.....strong race two back on the synthetic running wide and only getting beat by 6 1/2L in a MSW debut since her dull last are quite a bit better and they are on the SA dirt..........hmmmmm

7  Frannie'sspirittoo

5  Glad's Gals

12  Bright Town
