Hollywood for Sunday 17 November 2013

Decent card today and a nice pick 6 carry-over.....and of course it is football Sunday. MAN CAVE HEAVEN.

race 1    slightly above average clarity

6  Tahoe Flash   on the improve with every start and now we get a major league rider upgrade.......that'll Scottish caddies often say after a mediocre but in play tee shot

4  No Contingency   somewhat hidden forward move in latest........1st on the Hollywood synthetic but sure is training well on it......and like our top pick we get a solid rider upgrade......seems poised for another move in the right direction

7  He's Not Bluffin   decent looking WA bred looks well placed for the right level of the question is how he will handle his 1st ever on an AW surface......tough call as he has been training on the conventional dirt at SA

3  One Firm Cat

race 2    slightly above average clarity

5  Bobby Flay   exits an unbelievably fast heat (for the level) conditioned claimer and with a wide trip........did well to get beaten by a dozen....trainer wisely steps him up a notch.....and a solid reassuring 4F work since....all systems go

2  Public Defender   1st out after the Mikus claim in latest was decent over at SA.....and he appears to be best on the the Bhp surface......forward city seems likely for today

3  Tama County    on the correct end of the learning curve and has never trained better.........Cerin runner seems all set for best yet if he handles the Hollywood AW

1  Blue Collar Boy

race 3    average clarity

2  Curvy Cat   appreciates the Bhp AW including her best ever which was run last April at today's seldom used 7 1/2 furlong distance at with that in mind it sure appears Hollendorfer has pointed this filly for this race with a sharp tightly spaced work regiment at GG......wound up like a top and all set to go

1  Warren's Veneda    seemingly on the improve with every start and her last is better than appears in print as she was caught wide close to a decent pace and still crushed the competition......would easily have been top pick if this was a two turn race instead of a long one turn affair

3  Ciao Bella Luna   fifth different trainer today for this quality filly who has been facing somewhat trainer Peter Miller puts the blinkers on and that looks like a good thing here as my guess is this race will produce a reasonable pace which might set things up for those close up early

race 4    average clarity

8  This Cats Awesome   low % trainer but not with MSW 1st timers (4 for last 20).......and the works sure suggest this Sherlock baby is ready to roll

1  Unusual Boy   hasn't missed a beat in the a.m. so this 1st timer of Hollendorfer's should be fit enough to compete in his MSW debut and he seemingly catches a soft looking group

4  Ron's Boy    49 to 1 in MSW debut hints the race was needed and the race is better than it appears as he was blocked on the turn and ran on a dull rail....did decently to only get beat by 5 1/2L.......more seems likely today if he takes to his first ever on the AW

6  Lucky Views

race 5    average clarity

4  Holy Candy    big rebound in last and it is somewhat disguised by a very wide regiment since suggests Sadler means business today as this four-year-old-colt likes the Bhp AW

2  Blu John   only the 6th career start for this six-year-old so my guess is Shirreffs can't waste any starts and will have this fellow ready every time he starts including today.......won sprint turf to conventional dirt in 2012.........sprint turf to AW ever was at Bhp and it was the only time he ran on it's synthetic surface

6  Northern Iowa   4 of 5 lifetime AW route races are decent......and today he runs as a 1st time gelding........recent bullet 5/8ths drill hints that he might be a better horse because of the simple surgical procedure

7  Curly Top

race 6    slightly above average clarity

9  Yana    powerful MSW debut (wide and near the pace) and training as if even more will occur today in her 2nd lifetime start........good trainer/jockey combo in Spawr/Smith

5  Mia Luccia   so so MSW debut way back in July......showed good early foot and I love the tightly spaced series of endurance building 6F works at training by Harrington......highly doubt this baby gives it up so easily this time

3  Singleinthelast   not the best of journey's in both lifetime jock today and a nice set of a.m. work......not impossible if gets the trip and improves a little.......just might be single in the last for a win

7  Magic Spot

race 7    average clarity

4  Somethings Unusual   2 for 3 on the Bhp sod (could have been 3 for 3 if he wasn't blocked in his 1st race on it) ........0 for 6 on other grass courses.......nice turf sprint on Nov. 1st off of a 2 month layoff.....might feel really good for Warren to bring him back in 16 days

8  Empty Headed   talk about a needed break in the action......ran 4 route turf races in a span of 30 days.....predictably fell off in last..........strong late runner has big shot to rebound with 21 days off

3  Brother Pete   slightly less potential fig wise but most likely to get the "trip" and that is a scary proposition with Bejarano aboard

7  Rangi

race 8    slightly above average clarity

7  Global Hottie   strong MSW debut but Baffert didn't like something about his 1-2 shot's race so blinkers off for today........might live up to his odds this afternoon with the equipment change

5  Moscato Girl   decent MSW debut for this Carla Gaines filly.......she was 3rd beaten 4L but time and trip wise she likely would have won the other division of MSW's.......and Gaines is quite stout with 2nd time starters

4  Writer Fever   nowhere on the conventional dirt in 2nd lifetme start.....but.....impressive bad trip MSW debut 2 races back at Dmr........broke 2 slow - checked 5 more after that - and then ran a little wide.....worked out to be more than 2 1/2L better than par adjusted for trouble......hmmm

1  Bella Caterina

race 9    average clarity

1  Live The Forth   has run well versus better......and is rather consistent......barn appears to be in drop mode this meeting...... so........ my guess is that this Freeman runner remains in decent enough health

14  She's All Yours    very high percentage mare on the AW and at today's distance......last would make her very tough but she drops 2 notches off of a strong win........healthy or not......not sure but a ton if she is

7  Acute   another coming off a solid fig/effort........yet to fire back to back good efforts but solid here if she manages to break the mold today

2  Splendiferous Moon

3  Warren's Judy

5  Ribot Belle
