Hollywood for Saturday 14 December 2013

Next week on Monday we will be doing maintenance to our website and making changes as to the way it operates. We should be ready for racing on Friday the 20th (no racing on Thursday the 19th) and will post the selections early Thursday afternoon so you can get used to any changes. For those of you (only about a dozen) that we have had to email the selections to the changes should fix things for you. Thank you in advance for your patience.

Best of luck as always!

race 1    slightly below average clarity

6  Circa'sgoldengear   par like efforts in both lifetime 6F grass races at Hollywood............and his last is slightly hidden by wide trip running 2nd versus a stout winner

3  Tripski   fairly consistent Belmont invader makes his 1st start for his new trainer Steve Asmussen and he sure is training like the trainer has him ready for his first race on his new coast

4  Royal F J   seems like an improved grass sprinter of late (par figs in last two races) sitting closer to the front and that would likely be a good position to be in in this race lacking speed

race 2    average clarity

5  Pat's Back   Peter Miller has had a great meeting and he lucks out here with his late running filly as there sure seems as if there will ample pace in the affair to flatter her late kick

4  Tribal Dress   very consistent sort........capable of sitting just off of the pace and if she does here her chances of doing well will likely be enhanced

2  Lil Cheyenne   decent move forward in last and it is somewhat hidden by being boxed up on the turn.....and the step up in claiming hints at an improving filly

1  Funny Gal

race 3    average clarity

5  Temeraine   Proctor/Stevens (6 for the last 18) and a well traveled four-year-old gelding who has handled multiple grass courses quite well........and he sure appears best at the marathon distance of 1 1/2 miles

3  Segway   improving Richard Mandella runner deserves a shot versus the big boys and gets it..........bred to run forever so the 1 1/2 miles likely is a plus...........worked 23 furlongs over a span of 12 days........yikes........Mandella really means business here

6  Lucayan   another bred to run all day.......toss out last as this Drysdale colt dislikes a yielding or soft grass course.......races 2 and 3 back pace runner has a very strong late kick when he's right

race 4    slightly above average clarity

2  Zuboff   our top selection in his last luckily ran even better than I thought and he paid over $20......the effort would usually blast 12,500 claimers but he hung on by 3/4 of a length in a fast heat.....the effort fits today at this higher level and it is most likely his last race ever at the track he greatly appreciates (4 3 0 0)

4  Apollo Ten   resurgent Brice Blanc (brought home our long-shot play yesterday in the feature at a giant price) will be out to make amends here with this gelding who broke slow and was blocked on the turn and the stretch in his last.....likes Bhp and has been facing better.....sure should be tough here

6  Toledo Eddie    1st break in the action for this Dollase runner following a rigorous 11 races..........3 months since his last and a very tightly spaced works series likely has him rejuvenated and wound up and ready to roll

3  Dunmore East

race 5     average clarity

1  Divine Way   broke poorly from a difficult post and that was bad news as the pace up front was as slow as it gets for a 6F grass race at Bhp.........did well to gain a length of position from the quarter to the finish and only get beat by 4L.....better post today.....can be in the hunt from the get go with a good start today

3  Sheza Smoke Show   decent MSW debut on the AW for this Eurton two-year-old filly and Eurton is seldom tough with 1st timers........bred OK to handle the sod........the trainer has had a lackluster meeting to date but he is much better with 2nd time starters and he gets the red hot Joe Talamo to ride

10  Salsita   1st two lifetime races fit for the level but the next two do trainer isn't afraid to drop a horse yet he keeps this filly in a MSW........and a recent bullet 3F drill suggest rebound city today

2  Among The Stars

Long-shot consideration:   9  As Rulers Go   if you plug her only lifetime race which was on 29 Sept. into her work series it strongly suggests the race was a public work-out and today she is meant and ready off of an impressive tightly spaced work regiment.....and she sure is beautifully bred for the turf

race 6    average clarity

2  Street Status   slumping trainer just wants to win.........or..........claim me please.........suspicious MSW to mc20K drop.......but Bejarano  stays up..........might consider 1st or out of the money

4  Sofos Quick Logic   bad trips in last two races hides an improving since July but he is working as if he has returned ready......trainer has done well with limited runners at the meeting

1  Ice Cream Truck   way too wide in last or would have won for fun albeit in a slow heat..........seems best at today's 6F jock today

9  Senor Pegasus

race 7    slightly below average clarity

6  Soi Phet   best at today's distance......and what a jockey upgrade........from a struggling apprentice without his weight break to many lengths do you think that is worth?......I would say about a half dozen.........big effort today if this Powell runner has held his form

1  Blueskiesnrainbows   learned to rate in last in Ultra marathon of 1 3/4 miles......that and his endurance should be build up..........nice work regiment too........seems poised for a good effort

9  Hear The Ghost   big effort in his lone lifetime route race........had a nice layoff sprint race and solid 6F drills since.......seemingly pointed for today and ready to roll

8  Rousing Sermon

Long-shot possibility:   3  Slim Shady   1st ever on the main track but has always trained well on main track surfaces and if our 2nd pick rates again this gelding likely is loose and that where he likes to be

race 8    average clarity

10  Bench Light   vastly improved with the blinkers put on in latest......not too afraid of the post because of the long run-up at 1 1/8th with the rails all the way in........and.........with the red hot confident Joe Talamo in the saddle

2  Spring Up   improving and done little wrong in 3 lifetime route races two of which were on the sod.......excellent work regiment in preparation for today's race......believe sitting on best ever today

8  Cervaro    slow developing sort has turned out to be strong late running grass horse and there are few reasons not to believe the learning process won't continue this afternoon......Bejarano and his agent think it will

6  Boyett

race 9    average clarity

6  Shared Belief   two straight easiest of winner powerful sprint races to start the way this Hollendorefer baby took off in the stretch drive in his last......1st at a route but bred well to handle the 1 1/16th distance

2  Tamarando   big late kick for this Hollendorfer two-year-old........last at Bhp fits well here and this colt sure appears to have held his form breezing in 1:00 flat a week ago

5  Tap It Rich   horse has tons of talent and endurance but he sure could use the wide sweeping turns of Arlington or Belmont........strong work tab hints he has held form and might be better than ever........definitely a major factor here if he takes the turns better

9  Karma King

race 10    average clarity

5  Katrina Cowgirl   ran quite well on the AW and not so well on the conventional dirt........and owns a stout turf pedigree.......that tells me this Glatt filly will take to the grass and many in here will not

1  Filli Vanilli   good pedigree to handle the turf and the 7F drill just 4 days ago (after 2 tightly spaced 6F drills) strongly suggests that this Mulhall runner is ready to roll in her MSW debut

3  Im A Giant Star    Miller 1st starter sure owns a stout pedigree for the grass and the distance and gets Rosario to ride.......not exactly working great but fast works aren't everything

10  Papa's Flashy Girl

11  Unusual Style

12  My Aunt Annie
