Hollywood for Friday 20 December 2013
Not too hot of a card this afternoon as you can tell by the clarity ratings. Saturday's 11 race card is better.
Best of luck as always!
race 1 Â Â below average clarity
2  Larocco  2 for 2 on the AW at Hollywood (most that handle the Bhp AW handle the grass) bodes well for her chances of handling the grass as does her pedigree.......bad trip in last......solid better than par adjusted for trouble fig
1  Bosserette  on the improve with every start and gets Kayla Stra who has blossomed into one heck of a rider since the birth of her child......one very nice story for the holidays!
6  D'ya Knowwhatimean  crushed the competition in her lone lifetime race......steps up to a level.........she probably needs to improve a little but only about 2 or 3 lengths..........1st on the grass but bred fine to handle it
race 2   average clarity
7  Stunning Drama  big debut 2 back on the Bhp AW way back in June fits well here..........weak race on the dirt at Mnr in August......last chance to run on the Bhp AW........Canani likely to pull out all stops to get plenty out of his young filly this afternoon
2  Hot Bride  well proven fresh as this Baffert baby won her maiden debut......fresh today and well placed to win.......prolonged tightly spaced work series ought to have this girl wound up and ready to go
4  Time for Angie  poor record for Walter Solis "1st time in claiming" for a given horse but he is win-less for the meet and gets Bejarano to ride........shot to break the mold here
6 Â For Emma
race 3 Â Â average clarity
4  Pebble Beach Baby  been waiting for this O'Neill runner to sprint on the turf as she handles the grass but flattens too much late routing........both lifetime wins were 6F sprints on the main track........6 furlongs on the lawn here
2  Midnight Lady  rebound city in last.......gets Bejarano today.......last time (only time) the jock rode he guided this filly to a 5 1/2L win.......solid reassuring 4F drill since her improved last
5  Julio's Gold  main track races fit well enough and Belvoir is solid 1st out after a claim which is the case here.......but........turf pedigree is a ? mark........strong on mom's side.........very unproven on dad's side.......is she does handle the grass she has a decent shot to open up a loose lead
1 Â Sultry Season
Â
race 4 Â Â average clarity
9  Rambling House  might be playing with fire with this top choice as the 9 post is an uncanny 0 for 44 in sprint dirt races at the meet.....yikes.....but I view it as a bit of an anomaly......lone lifetime race looks tough here both in pace and final time.....and the trainer has been firing on all cylinders albeit with limited starters
5  Short Sword  soft works leading to this runners layoff last..........very sharp drill........that has gimme/go written all over it for this Mitchell baby
8  No Longer Blue  Jones is a low percentage trainer with 1st time starters and very dangerous with 2nd time starters........poor start in his debut and then showed he can run some thereafter
4 Â Candiz
Â
race 5 Â Â average clarity
2  Scorcher  early career grass races would crush these.....and this fellow seems to be rebounding in form......has been flattening out late some in turf route affairs but Bonde sharply seems to be putting some endurance into this colt in the a.m.
6  Quick Cielo  lifetime best was his lone turf race and it is somewhat hidden by a poor trip.......that grass race was a sprint......but..........he showed he can manage two turns in his last on the AWÂ
8  Ransom Canyon  consistent sort retains Bejarano who seemed to get the most out of this O'Neill four-year-old in his latest.......more of a challenging post for the top tier rider or would have rated higher
9  Meringue Pie  (tie for 4th)
4  Gallant Charm  (tie for 4th)
Â
race 6 Â Â average clarity
2  D J Manlove  significant but logical drop off of such a long break in the action......and owns significant early speed.....and fresh speed is usually very dangerous
10  Awesom Indy  par like effort in latest.........very solid drills since for Jones who usually works his works in slow times.......and a rider upgrade......seems likely to fire a good effort this afternoon
5  Turn On The Brites  very consistent sort including on the Bhp AW......but........the gelding tends to hang in the stretch somewhat
1 Â Congregationalist
Â
race  7   slightly below average clarity
10  Tangerine Tickle  four very sharp turf sprint efforts in four lifetime turf sprints......won last despite a poor trip.........very difficult post but his efforts/figs are strong enough to overcome 2 or 3 lengths of trip trouble and still beat these if of course she has remained in good form
7  Oscillator  highly competitive in almost every lifetime start with few reasons not to believe her consistency won't continue this afternoon......jock switch to Maldonado who is one for one with this fillyÂ
3  Always a Chance  shuffled back (1st after the O'neill claim) in last which hurt as the pace up front was slow.......nice improved drill since.......believe moves froward today and switches to Bejarano who has been a hot combo teaming up with O'Neill the last 2 or 3 months
8Â Vegas Rules
Long-shot consideration:  4 Ralphy Girl   filly has handled multiple surfaces and owns an OK grass pedigree so she might take to the turf in her 1st run on it......owns an abundance of early speed and likely has only one other speed horse to deal with in the no. 2
Â
race 8 Â Â average clarity
12  America Rising  very consistent in all 6 lifetime races and it is noteworthy that in three of those races the horse that graduated came back to win their next.........blinkers on in last produced one of his best efforts
4  Arctic Warrior  very dangerous speed combined with the cut back of one furlong makes this Bobby Grayson colt a major player in this affair
11  Indygo Andy  24 to 1 for a mc 1ster of John Sadler's strongly suggests the race was needed.........small drop in maiden claiming and a decent recent 5F gate work hints this colt will be much more formidable today
10 Â Old Pueblo
14  Burlister Â
2 Destino  highly doubt a winner....smaller pie of the pie
