Santa Anita for Sunday 19 January 2014

Good looking card this afternoon. For those of you who like betting fillies and mares it is your dream day as there isn't one race for the boys all day.

Best of luck as always!

race 1    average clarity

4  Goldilocks Planet   away since Oct. but working up to snuff........1st time in the Aguirre barn and training up to snuff.........drops possibly with an agreement with the connections that he would train the horse if they run her where she can win.........filly 16nw3 can do the trick

5  She's a Go Girl   good history back in short rest.....and very short rest of 9 days here......blinkers off this afternoon most likely in hopes of slowing down this speed filly in the early stages

1  Woodlandsway   not much on the grass.........2 for 3 on the AW.........1st on dirt but training fairly well on it..........fits fine if handles the new surface

race 2    average clarity

5  Browsing   toss out last as this Sadler runner didn't car for the grass......race 2 back is very strong and disguised by a brutal trip.......checked 3 early and ran wide........1st at a route but bred OK to get the one mile

6  Moonlight Stroll   solid par like mc debut and accomplished the task at the extended one turn distance of 7 1/2F.........1st on conventional dirt but if anything she is bred better for the dirt than the synthetic

3  Drink M. Pretty   better filly since switching to route racing........but she will still need her best ever here to win unless things go wrong for our top two selections

race 3    average clarity

5  Salsita   only race (and a race that stands out here) sprinting on the dirt at SA is quite strong and if he repeats the effort here 1st time in maiden claiming he should be tough.........trainer has won with 44% of his last 3 dozen 1st time in maiden claiming.......yikes

1  La Pequena   very aggressive work regiment for this Victor Gracia 1ster.......mom has tossed 3 winners from 3 starters.......sure appears primed.......well meant........and ready to roll

4  Shared Image   Owens has won with 6 of his last 13 maiden claiming 1st timers and has won 2 of his last 3 when teaming up with Stra.......works are good and mom has tossed 4 winners from 4 starers including a Stakes winner......good Az sire to boot

race 4    average clarity

3  Pearl D e Vere   best ever was lone race at SA.....that effort sure fits well here......and the fact that this Eurton filly just worked a bullet 4F drill suggests she is ready to strut her stuff at a high level once again at SA.

6  Zulu's Petals   low % jock has been aboard for all 4 lifetime races and this Jones filly has a record of (4 1 2 1)........top gun aboard today and Bejarano has been the trainer's go to guy the last couple of months

1  Sidebar   on the right end of the learning curve and if her connections keep the trend intact she has a shot here......good trainer/rider combo to help get that accomplished

7  Small Moves

race 5    average clarity

6  Flashy Ways   Baltas is off to a good start at the SA meeting and can keep the ball rolling here if this filly gets a better trip than she did in her last..........broke a little tardy and blocked in the stretch or wins this condition in her last.......race lacks speed and if Nakatani can break her better she seems likely to get great position early

2  My Gi Gi   greatly in need of a confidence builder as she hasn't won since June 9th, 2012 as she has been facing steady diet of Grade 1 and Grade 2 racehorse........best horse in here for sure but seems challenged today as she is deep closer in a race lacking speed and has only one mile to work with.......still.......she is dangerous to fly on by very late

4  Fantastic Miss   a little short fig wise but seemingly has the best shot to be sitting on or close to the front in a pace that should be very favorable.......jock has been riding well (better than his record indicates) and knows this mare well

8  Indecise

race 6    slightly below average clarity

4  Beverly The Boss   reared and ran wide in MSW debut going off at 5 - 2........toss it out............blinkers on and new jock today in Espinoza who has been getting on many "live" Miller horse's..........should be in the hunt from the get go if breaks cleanly this time around

11  Midnight Dream   either the turf run in last and/or the blinkers off has vastly improved this Baffert runner in the a.m..........believe this filly will sure plenty more horse this afternoon

7  Faith Hope Love   good looking grass MSW debut might have muscled up this young filly and she might be able to show more this afternoon in her 2nd lifetime start........good sign that Bejarano sticks around with the switch in surfaces

1  Not A Love Song (tie for 4th - somewhat dangerous 1st timer)

10  If You Would Like  (tie for 4th - somewhat dangerous 1st timer)

race 7    average clarity

2  Bosserette   on the improve with every start........and just popped her best drill ever a solid 59:3H 5F bullet...........good grass conditioner in Zucker......and a rider upgrade........sure seems highly likely to fire best ever today

6  As Rulers Go   impressive 1st ever on the grass in a race run at 6F at Bhp.........broke a length tardy and blocked a couple of lengths in the stretch..........finished full of run.........and this $400K at sale filly is bred to be a good one on the sod

3  Reflected Love   beat the boys in 2nd lifetime start in a race run in GB in July.........off since but training like she is ready.......trainer is quite good with GB invaders and at his most dangerous when he uses a top echelon jock.........Bejarano up

9  Famous Alice

Long-shot consideration    1  Lazy Daisy May   Az bred has done little wrong in 5 lifetime starts all on the dirt at Tup and her sire sure has been producing good grass runners......seems dangerous

race 8    slightly above average clarity

5  Broken Sword  2 for 2 with the blinkers on running in route races.........both were very impressive crushing wins...........loves the front and seems likely to get the lead here

1  Let Faith Arise   best ever was her lone race on conventional dirt which was at Pln..........sure is working great..........you don't see too many 59:3 B (breezing) works at SA.......believe she is sitting on her best ever

4  Fiftyshadesofhay   consistent Baffert mare seems likely to be stalking our top pick most of the way.........she can take this if she brings her "A game".........training exceptionally well even by Baffert standards.........would have rated higher if she wasn't win-less at SA in 4 fast rated tracks

2  Ondine

race 9    average clarity

7  Tangerine Tickle   most of her career fits well at this level.....has never been on the hill but she runs as if 6 1/2 furlongs will be to her liking......so if she handles the unusual configuration of the SA hill turf course she should be very stout here

1  Perfecta   Richard Mandella is very dangerous with overdo drop downs and that is the case with this mare........five-year-old mare has handled the hill just fine in the past

3  Promiscoussuances   very dangerous on the Santa Anita hill where she is (7 3 3 0) on it versus (11 1 1 2) elsewhere on the grass.........might be declining some but her favorite surface might be just what she needs to wake up

5  Cayanna

10  Blushing Martha

6  Romantic Wish
