race 1    slightly below average clarity

2  Lindz Winz   not an easy race to decipher but this Hollendorfer six year old mare is likely to get a nice mostly inside stalk position which was the route to victory 3 races back

4 Popalicious   woke up some in last in her 1st ever at Dmr......and just worked an eye popping best of 63 four furlong bullet on the Del Mar AW........might be up for better and better would make her tough here

5  Hit Girl   last two times Michael Stidham put this filly up for a tag she won......up for a tag today

3  On Golden Pawn

 

race 2    slightly above average clarity

4  Big Cazanova   Grade 1 winner in Argentina took to the Dmr synthetic in a big way in his last.......two impressive drills since.......should be very tough here

1  A Red Tie Day   seems slightly better on the sod but Ellis has been making all the right moves this meeting........still this colt will need his best ever today or a poor effort by our top choice to overcome him

2  Stoney Fleece   basically a grass horse except on one main track surface.......Del Mar's........he owns 2 wins in 4 lifetime starts at the track........like our 2nd choice he has a shot if our top pick has an off day

 

race 3   slightly above average clarity

4  Nowalking   new trainer - sharper drills and they are at Dmr........new rider Mike Smith - 4 for his last 5 riding for D'Amato........both lifetime races are better than appear in print

6  Noble Bird   on the right end of the learning curve and now we get a rider upgrade......such a deal

2  King Ptolemy   so so work tab prior to sprint MSW debut.......works since indicate Baffert means business this time around......nice pedigree to handle a mile

3  Constantine

 

race 4    slightly below average clarity

4  Giant Journey   lone lifetime win came in maiden debut which was the only time Vallejo was the listed trainer......back with Vallejo today for 4th lifetime start and training awfully well at GG.......drops and gets Bejarano to ride........should be a major player here

6  Sheza Eyeopener   vastly improved since the blinkers were added.......and handled the Dmr AW quite well in last......just needs similar here to be in the hunt for the circle of joy

5  Gelila   last seemed a little funky and now the connections drop her into claiming......dangerous here if the last was the gimme and today is the go

8  Hey Pretty Girl

Long-shot consideration:   3  Bobbylouie   so so in last but her race 2 back fits and is disguised by a very rough trip.......and.......today we get a rider upgrade

 

race 5     slightly below average clarity

9  Royal Stack   off since a dull layoff race on July 10th......but......returns as a 1st time gelding and the recent works hint he is now an improved runner for Miller......we shall see

3  Znelle   best efforts are at Del Mar so Sadler wisely drops from mdn30K to mdn20K to take advantage of the Dmr AW before it is no longer

4  Shock Wave   only lifetime race was at AP on the grass.....not as bad as appears in print......but more importantly he is training for his new conditioner at Dmr like he fits on the new surface and might compete at a high level for the top prize

10  Dust At Zahn

Long-shot consideration:   7  Boss Cat   good work tab especially in July.....backed off some lately possibly to key the claiming vultures at bay.....dangerous

 

race 6    average clarity

7  Carrick Bay   trainer is having a terrific Dmr meeting and picks up a new horse......rider is on fire on the grass .........invader from AP fits today's condition well

8  George's Peach   ultra consistent grass runner sure fits solidly here and retains Bejarano......but he sure has to overcome a strong tendency to hang in the stretch......6 2nd's (one win) in 9 grass races and counting

5  Eduring Erin   decent turf invader from AP shows up in the Hess barn and when Hess rides Desormeaux on these kind he has been awfully tough at the Del Mar meeting

race 7     slightly above average clarity

1  Seeking Shamrocks   looks like a claim by Puype with plenty of potential.....last sure fits solidly both in pace and final time......Ellis might be sorry he risked this filly

10  Only Josie Knows   might have needed layoff last and her last isn't bad.......and.......with the way Canani has woken up of late quite a bit more might occur this afternoon

3  Midnight Lady   best at Dmr and this likely is her last shot to run on it's synthetic surface until late Fall

8  Air Of Royalty

11  It Is Living Water   1st out after the Miller claim.....good drill put in by his new trainer......and.......last sure fits.......cut back of 1/2 furlong seems like a plus

10  Bitter Heat   another just snatched at the claiming box......debut last was decent......will be tough here if Glatt can get just a little more out of her and/or if she benefited physically from her debut effort

5  I'll Fly For Young   late runner likely will appreciate the extra 1/2 furlong......and the rider seems to be snapping out of a prolonged slump......nice to see because any slump in racing whether you are a rider or trainer or owner or handicapper ----is brutal
