race 1 Â Â average clarity
5  Vegas Bound   last two strong races for this filly came when her trainer switched riders from low % to high %......and both of those solid efforts were run off of short rest which is the case today.......so.....what we want is her effort (or close to it) run five races back on 12 Jan 14Â
6  Lovely Instinct  consistent sort takes a logical drop to a level that should suit her more.......away since April but I highly doubt this is a tune-up or Palma would have placed her higher........hot trainer/rider combo in Palma/Valdez
2  Amina Perfect  good history in sprint races and the cut back of one furlong seems as if it will be a plus

2  Power Jam  Baffert 1st time starter was training fairly well at LA but since he came on over to the Great Race Place he has been training "lights out".......last 3 works are gate works and that says Baff and company want to win in his debut
4  Action Hero  39 to 1 in MSW debut suggests the race was needed for this Proctor colt and the race was rather decent.........closing late following a bad beginning and did it in a fast heat.......love the five tightly spaced (6 day intervals) works since the race........rather sure he is ready to compete for the top prize today
3  Moe Candy  decent work regiment for this John Sadler first time starter.......three year old colt is working as if he will be coming from off the pace......very nice breeding

2  Gallant Charm  overdo drop for this Avila runner.......he sure appears to fit solidly in this weak looking group if he can overcome his tendency to hang........if he has remained healthy and runs his race he will have to hang his eyeballs out not to pass and win
4  Broadcaster  four year old gelding has a definite shot to be the controlling speed in the race.......rider trainer are 3 for their last 5 as a team
6  Cole Cole  trainer Alfredo Marquez has been hot of late and is often at his most dangerous sprint to route which is the case today

4  Twenty Eleven  three lifetime races all at SA and her best by far was the only time she ran at today's 6F distance.......and she drops back to the level she was claimed at in her mc debut.........should fit well today
6  Beyond Lucky  broke horridly (about 8L slow) in MSW debut 3 back and was beaten by 12L.......showed much less in 2 starts to follow........drops to the bottom today.......recent works are better......might be up for a rebound.......fits if she is
5  Lyla Della  nice forward move 2nd out after the one year layoff.......2 reassuring drills since......last might be good enough.....more and she might be the one to overcome

5  Durango Flier  best ever by far was 1st time as a gelding two races back on the dirt..........so so in next out.......but......vastly better works since his last hints at a significant rebound........1st time running on the grass as a gelding and the grass might be his preferred surface.....very dangerous
7  Blackford  par like efforts in last two endeavors both on main track surfaces.....also handles the sod and the 1 1/8th distance appears to be a plus and might not be for quite a few in this race
4  Deputy Heat  on the improve since Sadler took over the training duties for this four year old and like our 2nd selection the extra 1/16th to cover seemingly is a good thing

6 Where Is My Mind  it has been quite some time since this Avila runner worked between starts......might be feeling better and if she is she likely is the one to overcome
1 Holiday Maker  seems to be on the rebound and retains Bejarano who has won his last two mounts riding for Canani
3 Take Back Spring  seems to be doing better in the a.m. and takes a small drop in claiming......cut back of one furlong from 7F to 6F led to an improved race on 11 Dec........same scenario today

8 Entrechat  nearly won MSW debut down the hill despite a bad trip.......positive jock change for today for her 2nd lifetime start which is also down the hill .......and......continues to train like a happy healthy individual for Drysdale
6 Boat Drinks  nice MSW debut 2nd which was down the hill......and the grass appears to have legged this filly up as her a.m. prowess on the SA dirt since the debut is impressive......Hall of Fame rider Stevens wisely sticks with the Sadler runner
12Â Avenge AE Â Stevens stays with the R Mandella three year old filly for a 3rd straight time.......filly exits a very fast heat and in the affair she had a wide trip.......effort was quite a bit better than par when you adjust for her compromised position.......1st on the sod but bred fine for it

6 Warren's Veneda  maybe never sharper and this Lewis late runner seems to have plenty of early speed in this affair to flatter her late run
2 Thegirlinthatsong  another off pace runner likely to have the race shape in her favor......top trainer.......top rider........should be tough
1 Yahilwa   fits if she brings her "A game" and she seems likely to get a nice stalk or mid pack position behind a lively pace and with Gary Stevens in the irons

2 Bobbi Grace  broke slowly......ran wide and still won in her 1st ever down the SA hill....earned a solid adjusted for trouble fig........ in all likelihood best career work ever since......same or better today
8 Belle Et Bete  two OK route races since arriving in the USA from Ireland.......won her last three sprints overseas.......so.....the cutback route to sprint makes her quite dangerous and not to be overlooked
11 Spirit Xion  work tab hints this laid up GB invader (since Sept.) for Richard Mandella might be ready and if she is she seems well placed in this small Stakes race.........dangerous sort
